It’s difficult to say what’s to attribute to the translation or the actual story itself. It’s a short long winded book about swimming and a toxic relationship and a toxic relationship with swimming… so straightforward enough I guess. But there were times where I really don’t know where the narration is taking us. I think more exposition at the start could have helped prepare readers better for what’s to come at least.

I really enjoyed the psychological feel to this story, I thought the concept worked well and had that realism that I was hoping for. I thought Marie-Hélène Larochelle did a fantastic job writing this and left me wanting to read more.
