What a lovely copy of Anne of Green Gables. Bringing this classic to life in a new and fun way! I think the physical copy of this will just be so special.

This special edition of the full Anne of Green Gables novel includes collectible items such as letters "written" by the characters and other mementos. Now... what I got my hands on is the eBook and I can see I will need to get the physical book when it comes out in October - which is perfect, as Anne says: "I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers." The eBook gives a description of the extras included in the print version and includes details on the research and history involved in creating these items, such as: a map of Anne's world, the Lord's Prayer card, recipes, Diana's note to Anne when she was forbidden to speak with her folded in a pinwheel shape like a "puzzle purse," Anne's note with recreated children's handwriting based on L.M. Montgomery's early written letters, the Queen's pass list as it would have appeared in the newspaper, and more! Barbara Heller, who oversaw the creation of all these items has done the same for Little Women and Pride and Prejudice... I am going to have to check those out, too!

I am a huge fan and lover of anything and everything Anne of Green Gables. When NetGalley offered up a review copy of the special edition version with mementos I leapt at the chance to grab an early copy. The forward was a sweet acknowledgement of so many children's love for the Annie of Green Gables tales but also includes a grown-up adult perspective.

There are additional documents listed at the end of the digital book. The documents include newspaper articles and an appendices. The appendices provides information on the letters and mementos scattered throughout the the hardcover version of the book. That's the only problem with reading the electronic version of the book. The replicas from the story are not included in digital format. I would have liked to see everything included. I'm sure they are splendid, however, and purchasers of the hardcopy will be in for a treat.

Barbara Heller's addition of Anne of Green Gables into the Handwritten Classics series will delight fans of Heller and Anne, alike.

I am a huge fan of anything Barbara Heller puts out and I think I have all her published works from this collection. Was very excited to read the way this one was put together (MASSIVELY loved the intro she wrote for it) but wish the ebook had had the inserts aside from the descriptions of what it will be. I had even gone to the end of the book to see if maybe the images of what were to come would be there, but they were not. Definitely will still recommend and gift this to those who I think would be interested and cannot wait to see the finished product.
