I have read several books by T A Williams and agree they are very samey. That said, if you like the format, then all the books being similar is a good thing. In this book there's very little in the way of angst. Everything is sorted quickly and with little drama. I liked the inclusion of the Labrador, and Williams always writes about the Italian landscape beautifully. As for the romance, it wasn't given much time. I couldn't understand why Amy fell for Adam. The ending felt rushed and underwhelming if I'm honest. I was more invested in whether Amy would take the dog on full-time. With thanks to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Canelo for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This was my first T.A Williams read, and I enjoyed his writing style and the plot. The story moved at a nice pace, and the description of Italy, characters and food was beautiful woven into the story without over-crowding.
This was not, however, a Romance. This was a Women's Fiction with romance being a sub-plot. Although I liked Amy (the FMC), I didn't have enough of a picture of Adam to be invested in their love story. I couldn't understand how Amy loved him so quickly, and it felt a bit too rushed towards the end.
As much as I love TA Williams’ Dan and Oscar series, I also love his romance novels, and Far From Home is no exception. It's so easy to read and I was effortlessly transported to the village of Sant'Antonio, with its beautiful landscapes and wonderful mix of people. TA Williams’ descriptions are amazing and it's impossible not to fall in love with the place.
The protagonist of Far From Home is Amy. She's a character I found it easy to empathise with. When she initially comes to Sant'Antonio she is dealing with a lot of emotions and I really enjoyed seeing her grow in confidence as the story developed. She's surrounded by some great supporting characters, including Adam, Danny and Pierpaolo and I loved her burgeoning friendships with them, and of course, Max the Labrador.
Unlike some romance novels, there is a slight element of mystery in Far From Home and I was keen to see where this would lead and what it would mean for Amy.
I am looking forward to my next adventure in Italy with this author!
I do love a T. A. Williams book and I'm in eternal amazement at just how prolific his writing is, in two different genres, and both to such a high quality.
And Far From Home is another wonderful book from this author. Don't worry it has the trademark black Lab, a gorgeous dog called Max who stole my heart, as well as Amy's heart.
We have a surprise inheritance with a slight mystery as to just why Martin has left so much to Amy, when she has never heard of him. There is also some incredibly gorgeous Italian men, and a wonderful Tuscan setting of Sant'Antonio.
I loved Amy's story, seeing how she adjusted to her changing circumstances, and trying to work out just where she might be happiest living in the future. While at the same time becoming more and more integrated into life in Italy, and she makes some lovely new friends.
It had me wanting to book the next flight to Italy, in order to move their, I was that at home in the setting, which was so wonderfully described.
An incredibly enjoyable story that I devoured, and couldn't get enough of. Another worthy addition to this author's catalogue of fabulous Italian based books.
Thank you to Canelo and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Amy is used to working long hard days in forex, until she collapses with a suspected heart attack. At the same time, she discovers she has been left a property in Italy by a complete stranger. Forced by her employer to take several weeks leave to recuperate she travels to the Tuscan hills to discover a magnificent inheritance. The time alone will also allow Amy to decide how she feels about her boyfriend and whether they have a future together.
This was pleasant enough, although I didn't feel the romance - I kept wondering why she fell in love with him. Also, TA WIlliams' novels are all beginning to feel very similar with the inevitable Labrador and lengthy food descriptions.
I received an ARC from the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.
Honestly I cannot get enough of TA Williams books. It’s like you’re transported into the story as soon as you start the first page.
This book was no different to any of the others in the fact that I loved it! Amy was a lovely character and I liked Adam too. One thing I will say is that I felt it needed a bit more romance between the 2 but apart from that it was a fab read in a stunning location as always.
Set in a picturesque small town in Tuscany, Amy has inherited a beautiful home from a mystery man and after a health scare in her place of employment, decides to go to Sant’Antonio.
An enjoyable read with family secrets, an inheritance and finding new friends makes this book a wonderful read that will leave you feeling happy.
I absolutely love TA Williams so I was so excited to see she had a new book coming out, I definitely have burnt myself out with my job and it really does affect your mental health just as much as physical. I was so curious to follow her along her journey to healing and unraveling the mystery of her family. I also loved the aspect of the romantic interest being in journalism and as a former journalist as well I could really relate to that aspect a lot. I thought it was such a beautiful book. Very well written and held my interest. I absolutely recommend picking this up and adding it your beach bag.
