I have mixed emotions about this book, things I liked and other things, not so much. Henry is a little rough around the edges, but makes a great leading man, although maybe a little too perfect. I loved that Blue Dog, the author’s dog that’s pictured on the cover, is a big part of the story, even if I am a cat person.
The early pages pulled me into the action, introducing the need to get cotton to market, as well as the conflict in Sue’s relationship with Henry. But I have a hard time loving a story when I don’t connect with or care for the heroine. Sue was judgmental of Henry, even when proven wrong, and never seemed to mature.
Still, Vow Unbroken is a book that many fans of historical romance will enjoy and I’d like to try another book by this author.
