I recently finished this book, the prologue intrigued me from onset, the character development within Lake Pines was well done. When things got weirdly bizarre I was in for the ride, forever having me guessing, on what was going on in that place, the things that were happening it was just creepy where I could totally see it from Laura POV… stuff got crazy… some people give me the ICK like that creepy landlord.. Graham was by far my favourite he was a dream! Even if he was quirky.

The Lake House book description caught my attention, it seemed like a quick read that begins with a toxic relationship and then turns into a thriller. However, I am giving this book 2 stars since I DNF’ed it at about 20%. The writing was a touch repetitive and the same words were used again and again, it just didn’t allow me to visualize the scenery and characters the way I would have liked. The characters and flow also were rushed in the beginning, like people were just thrown at you without much explaining.

With that being said, if you like a quicker book without a lot of description and character building, then this may be a book for you. I will probably try another Theo Baxter book in the future and give this author another chance though.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I ended up staying up till 3am just to finish it because I wanted to know if I was right (which I was). I think the story telling was very easy to read and follow however parts were a bit rushed hence the minus of a star. I didn't like how the ending dragged out making me think that there was another twist coming but its actually just like 5 chapters wrapping up the story.

I will definitely be checking out more by this author.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read and a big whodunit situation. A woman found her fiance cheating on her wedding day so she moves to get away…until everything catches up to her. I will be reading more by this author!

Laura’s finds her fiancé and best friend hooking up right before the big day. She finds herself torn between two men and now her ex fiancé moved in next door with his new wife.

The character frustrated me at times when they seemed to side with Tony and Mary. The situations were relatable and made the story that much better.

There was a lot crammed into this book so it’s doesn’t lose your interest.

This book was a slow burn for me. I did enjoy it once I figured out who the man characters were. The story was good and kept my interest. I did have my own ideas of what was going to happen. It was a fun read and will for sure read more of his books.

I have read a number of theo Baxter books so wanted to give this a read. This was a quick and suspenseful read that I was able to finish in a day.
You will find yourself rooting for Laura after she discovers her fiance and maid of honor hooking up right before her wedding.
After moving to an interesting small town a lot of strange things begin to happen as Laura also has to decide between two perspective boyfriends, the death of a neighbor and her former fiance and his wife moving next door to her.

2.5☆ (rounding up to 3) I was so intrigued with this book after reading the description and this was a quick and entertaining read. however after 60% it all just felt a bit lacklustre for me. some things were repetitive and then the ending did feel slightly rushed. I also didn’t particularly care for any of the characters but overall, it was still a decent thriller read.

So pleasantly surprised by this book!

It gives very commercial thriller from the cover and description but reads so well and gives a wonderful story.

The premise of a ex-fiancée making a new life with your best friend and them trying to turn you, a victim, into an outcast? Infuriated and totally with the main character from the start. Well done.

The side characters, especially Graham, were super fleshed out and felt real, like they equally had skin in the game. I was hooked from the beginning and the ending took me OUT.

The Lake House by Theo Baxter is an extremely well written story with an intricate plot and skillfully drawn characters. it's a real page turner with twists and turns that seem to spin out of control. The ending was explosive and totally unexpected.

This type of story can easily be a true story and that made me want to read this book so much more. I really like Theo’s writing and this one didn’t disappoint at all. Can’t wait to read what’s next!

This book had me hooked from the first page, Laura was cheated on by her husband tony and her best friend/ maid of honour Mary. Years later Laura is in therapy, tony and Mary are together turning the mutual friends in to their side.. that part drove me crazy that some of the friends thought Laura should have gave them privacy!! Anyways Laura moved to a small town in pine lake where she becomes a talented writer, makes friends with quiet but friendly neighbour brandy and friends with Brian who sold her the house on rent to buy terms. After her neighbour suddenly passed away Laura makes friends with another writer in the community named Graham. Graham thinks it’s something strange is going on regarding brandy’s passing and the rush to put the house back on the market and after Tony and Mary move in next door Laura starts to expect something strange as well.

I couldn’t put this book down, I got in touch with each character and felt so many emotions while reading like anger, confusion, shock..I felt like the ending was a bit rushed but other then that I really enjoyed this book with all the twists and would recommend

The ending took me by surprise as I wasn’t expecting it. The book is a real page turner that is sure to reading well into the night I’d highly recommended this book.

This is a great, entertaining thriller that I raced through. Laura was cheated on in the worst possible way and now the other woman is living by her, what are the odds?! Ok it was a little cliche and predictable in places, but redeems itself with a tightly placed plot that is a good solid read.

Ooooh as soon as I saw Theo Baxter I knew I had to read this book!! It did not disappoint! It had suspense, intrigue, action packed, murder, mystery, a great who done it and some crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and had me glued to my Kindle!
