I would define this book as THRILLING! I thought it was SO good! The pacing was perfect for this type of story and the location was amazing being in New Orleans. I loved how dramatic and tense this book was! I also loved how the perspective changed and getting to see different peoples perspectives! The female leads were all so strong. Each of them had different personalities but were well developed and very relatable. And honestly the conclusion was perfect! I loved the similar vibes to Pretty Little Liars at times too! Solid book and def will be reading more by Olivia Worley!

Thanks to NetGalley, The Author, & St. Martin’s Press for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This story is easy to get into, has great world and character building, and the setting is so much fun to read. I will be reading more from this author!

I loved the New Orleans setting in this one. There were some serious Pretty Little Liars vibes which was appreciated. There are multiple POVs so you get snippets of what actually happened from many of the characters. What worked less for me was that it was clear from very early on who the villain would be. While I wasn’t 100% correct on the ending, I was pretty darn close which took the fun away.

**ARC Review**

Unfortunately, I do not think I was the right person for this book, and I do not think I had the right expectations going into it. The premise seemed interesting, and I liked the blurb. However, after the first several chapters, I wasn't able to get into it. I expected to have an idea of the main conflict by that point, but I wasn't sure what was driving the story and didn't enjoy the commentary by the POV characters. For those reasons, I chose not to finish the book.

The Debutantes is a fast-paced and action-packed book that follows three girls whose lives are all changed by the debutante culture in New Orleans. When Lily, the queen bee of the event, sends a text before her disappearance, her friends do not immediately assume it’s real. But as clues fall into place, fear starts to creep in that Lily could be in serious danger. Can the three girls unite despite their differences to save Lily before it’s too late?

The Debutantes was hard to put down! It was very informative about debutante culture and how important it can be to families who have grown up with it. The Debutantes kept me guessing until the end! I liked the twists and enjoyed the mystery as it unfurled. All three of the girls had great personalities and compelling reasons to find Lily, even if friendship is the least of them. Readers who like Karen M. McManus and Diana Urban will enjoy this thrilling debutante mystery.

Thank you to Olivia Worley, Wednesday Books, and Netgalley for a free audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

For publisher: My review will be posted on Goodreads, Amazon, Storygraph, and Barnes & Noble etc.

Thanks to NetGalley and Wednesday Books/St Martin's Press for early access to The Debutantes in exchange for my honest opinion. Being at Dartmouth for homecoming with my parents put me in the perfect setting to finish this dark academia YA thriller.
Set in New Orleans, this was a quick, twist-filled read that I enjoyed a lot. Three debutantes without much in common come together to unravel some deep, dark secrets of the city’s elite. The POV switches between the debutantes, keeping the reader engaged and aware of each one’s secrets. If you like stories where rich people behave badly, I bet this book will be right up your alley. I also enjoyed the author's previous release, People to Follow. Can't wait to see what she writes next!

I love me some ya mystery!! The unlikely trio looking for the missing queen was such a fun dynamic! I enjoyed each character and what they contributed to the group. It was creepy, a bit predictable and the ending was kinda all over the place but still I read this technically in one sitting & I had such a fun time reading this! Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for this arc! Can‘t wait to read more from this author

Welcome to modern day New Orleans. You are a teenage girl forced by her traditional parents to participate in a debutante ball, where The Debutantes are formally introduced to society. However, a masked boy pulls a Carrie trick during the event recalling the death of the previous year’s Queen. Speaking of the previous year’s Queen, was her death a simple overdose or was something else going on behind the scenes? When the current Queen goes missing, her princesses try to unravel all the secrets bubbling beneath the sparkling purple and green surface of New Orleans’ high society even while trying to keep their own family skeletons hidden.

The plot of this book was extremely twisty and kept me guessing. Plus, I loved the backstage look at New Orleans’ traditions written by an attendee of her own debutante ball. However, all the main characters were extremely unlikable. A word that rhymes with witches would not be an exaggeration. Because of that, I really couldn’t get too involved in the mystery. However, I think young adults closer to high school age would really enjoy The Debutantes. 3 stars.

Thanks to NetGalley and Wednesday Books for providing me with an advanced review copy.

First I would like to thank Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC of this novel.

I have been struggling to get into YA novels lately but this one sucked me right in. I loved the New Orleans setting and the entire vibe of this book.

The twists in this book were great and they kept me guessing throughout the entire book. It was a page-turner for sure.

The only thing I struggled with was keeping track of all the characters at the beginning. But overall I really enjoyed it.

4/5 stars

After the ball last year Margot was found dead. She was a bit wild so some are not really suprised.

Lilly is too perfect. She is the perfect queen for this years ball. Until a jester shows up and starts terrorizing the guests. Lilly send a message to three girls. Why would she do that? How can they help?

What is happening? You'll have to read and find out !

This book was a solid read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this Arc

I don’t read a lot of thriller or mysteries and I for sure prefer YA ones so I am excited to read the debutantes. It was very bingeable with different point of views, lots of secrets, twists and reveals. I loved the setting of New Orleans and it gave me Pretty little Liars vibes. It was an entertaining and fun read.

I was initially interested in The Debutantes because I was just craving a really good young adult thriller. This delivered. The characters were so well-written, and the action just kept coming. This plot was so different than any thriller I've read, and it gets bonus points for being set in New Orleans, which I also found fascinating. I'm interested to get into more of this author's work.

The perfect balance of old-world tradition and mystery in this YA thriller. I was immediately swept up in the detailed descriptions of New Orleans, emphasizing not just the well known places, but the locally known hidden locations as well. The story started out with elaborate descriptions of an old-world tradition of showcasing debutantes, with the storyline following along with each of these women as they work to solve a mystery that is much more complex than even they could imagine. There is a stain on this revered tradition, as one of the girls from last year was found dead shortly after the event, but it seems everyone has put that behind them, except her closest friends. When one of their friends go missing, the girls decide that is enough, they must get to the bottom of it, but who can they trust? Less people than they would think.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC, all opinions are my own

This was phenomenal!! I loved the way the story developed and I really liked the ending twist. It was very fast paced and I felt like the pacing of the reveals was good. I loved the setting and felt like the author didn’t rely on the creepy aesthetic of New Orleans to generate the intrigue and mystery. Instead I felt like it only added and supported the mysteriousness. I loved the multiple POVs. It was really giving the Originals x The Inheritance Games. Cannot recommend this one enough if you are in the mood for a YA mystery!!

I was really drawn to the concept behind this story it seemed like pretty little liars vibes. However the multiple POVs all kind of blended together instead of being separate voices. It also was really predictable as far as the mystery of it all.

In The Debutantes Les Masques Ball is the social event of the season for New Orleans elite, even though last year’s queen, Margot Landry, was murdered. Margot was a wild child, and many people thought her self-destructive tendencies won out. Then this year’s queen, the perfectly poised Lily LeBlanc, disappears after the ball is hijacked by someone in a Jester costume. She sends a text to the Maids on her court, her best friend Vivian, her boyfriend’s sister Piper and April, her frenemy, asking them to meet her the next morning. However, she never shows up. The three of them must band together to find out why she disappeared and rescue her before she becomes another dead queen.

Pretty simple premise: all rich white people racist and bad. This new trope and starting to get old. Have been seeing it develop more and more in YA over the years and it's sad. Wish authors would keep their political/social views out of their writings and just let kids/teens be teens. They will have way more than enough bs to put up with when they get out into the real world.
