I received an ARC of #ImStillHere from #NetGalley
I really don't know how to put these into words, maybe this review lacks a lot. Having a pet is truly another level of living, though the moment we need to say goodbye is heartbreaking each time, even for a short holiday getaway. So I really sympathize with those who lost their pets, and really need to read this book. Being loved unconditionally by them is truly a blessing, and letting that unconditional love go is hard. The authors of this book made sure you remember those love are gone for a while, and will be reunited with you in a short while, and more encouraging words are given in this read. Even while my pet is still here, it is hard to read and imagined, also write this down.
This was the most adorable book I have ever read. The illustrations are amazing! My dog is 12 years old and getting to the point that I am no sure how much longer he will be with me, he is my heart dog. Reading this book was very comforting about crossing over the rainbow bridge. I would definitely recommend this one.
Thank you, Cathryn Michon, for sharing such a beautiful book. And thank you, Andrews McMeel Publishing, and Net Galley for the opportunity to read it.
This is a sweet book designed to help when you lose a pet in death. The illustrations are excellent. I think anyone who has lost a pet will be comforted by this book.
I'm Still Here: A Dog's Purpose by Cathryn Michon is a wonderful, short, illustrative book. Dog's aren't just animals, they are family who love you unconditionally. This book does bring tears to your eyes but also happiness to your soul knowing your furry companion loves you as much as you love them. When they cross over the rainbow bridge, they will be waiting for you with a wagging tail and a tongue hanging out to greet you at the pearly gates when it is your time to run wild with them again.
Please adopt, don't shop. There are so many animals that need loving homes; but are instead discarded like trash. No one deserves that.
Thank you NetGalley.
My beloved Pom passed away over a year ago and I still cry and long for him to this day. I loved the cover and so enjoyed this beautifully written book.
I loved this beautiful, heartfelt book. I laughed, I cried, and I remembered. Everyone who has loved a pet should read this book! Bravo Cathryn!
This is a wonderful book, especially if you have loved and lost a pet! Beautiful illustrations and words!
I put off reading this ARC because every time I started it my eyes blurred and I could not get past the first few beautiful pages. I read it tonight on the verge of losing my sweet 14 year old husky. This is why I put if off because I knew the time was near and thought it would be better read it at this time. This lovely message from an angel dog does indeed still make me tear up but as I continued to turn the pages I began to smile.
A warm reminder that she will be waiting for me at Rainbow Bridge and will always be in my heart. Huge thank you to the writer and #Netgalley for this book at just the time I needed it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Andrew McMeel Publishing for providing this book, with my honest review below.
I lost my little fur baby some years back and still yearn to cuddle him one last time and make sure he knows mommy loves him. This book gives me a little bit of light and hope that somehow we are still together, will be together, and that he isn’t scared or lonely in some far off place but by my side or another’s who loves him as much as I still do.
Thank you, Netgalley, for allowing me to read and review this book. These opinions are completely my own
This might be the hardest book I have ever had the pleasure to review. It's also comforting as I just lost my Frankie and it felt like she was talking to me. I miss her so much, and I now feel like maybe she misses me too.
“dogs spend a lot of their time
𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦
trying to get people to see
that they should feel the way dogs do
happy to be 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦
or 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦”
My heart can’t take it 🥹🥰. If you have ever loved and lost an animal, this book will speak to your soul. It certainly spoke to mine.
With beautiful illustrations and the most endearing and heartfelt message, I’m Still Here highlights what we can learn from animals and why it is so very easy to love them…but then so utterly devastating to lose them.
I recommend this to anyone who has ever had to say goodbye to a beloved family member, best friend, and the loyalist of companions. They are with us always. ❣️❣️
Thank you to @cathrynmichon, @adogspurpose, @andrewsmcmeel, and @mbc_books for the #gifted copy. The illustrations by Seth Taylor are just beautiful!
Dogs are here to love, comfort and teach us. We are so lucky.
This story is about dogs and the way that they can teach us so many things. We try and do teach them how to fit in our lives. But they are busy showing and telling us what is important - like being in the moment and what unconditional love looks and feels like. It is so very hard to deal with life when our beloved dog is at the end of theirs. This book tells and shows us that part of the purpose of a dog is to show us and help us better understand and accept death. What a gift, even if it does break our hearts.
It really does comfort me to think that I will get to be with the people and dogs that I loved on earth again. That really does sound like heaven. This book is full of beautiful illustrations that add so much to reading this story. The dog on the cover can see right into your soul. Loved the cover. Don't be afraid to read this book. I put it off for so long just because I did not want to remember all of the sad times I have spent missing the dogs that I have loved and loved me. This book seems to give purpose to losing and loving a special dog and shares the joy of seeing them again. It also gives comfort by sharing that the dogs we loved never leave us in spirit.
The sweetest story to remind the reader of a dog's true purpose. It reminds you that even after they've gone, across the rainbow bridge, that they're with you. In different ways, they'll always be there.
You don't have to have (or have had) a dog to have this book resonate with you. Our house is full of cats, and this book can be read thinking of cats who have crossed the rainbow bridge as well. It makes me think of my first baby, Tamara, that I truly hope is waiting for me. Still.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This beautifully illustrated heartfelt narrative is told from the point of view of an angel dog who shows “I’m still here” and watching over you. If you have ever lost a dog, you will cry, nonetheless the story is comforting.
This book is a must for anyone who has lost their best friend. I highly recommend it.

I’m Still Here: A Dog’s Purpose Forever is such a comforting read with lots of beautiful illustrations. It’s an adorable book about dogs who have passed away and showing that they love us and that they’re still with us. I have lost two dogs to health issues and reading this made me tear up. I loved this book so much and it gives me hope to know we’ll see our fur babies again.
I definitely recommend this beautiful book to anyone who has lost their precious fur baby.
i went into this book with the expectation of a cute read about dogs and left it a crying mess. whether or not you have dogs, if you have a love for animals this book is for you. i highly recommend it to anyone going through the loss of a pet - while i live in a cat household, i still deeply resonated with the words and it reminded me of my sweet calico who passed in 2021. one of the hardest days of my life was when we had to help her cross over during the height of the pandemic. i was unable to go into the vet with her, i could only hold her on my lap in the car. to this day, i wonder if she knew she was loved in that moment even though i - or any of my family members - were in the room with her, and now i feel more assured that she did. my grief over her will never leave, but it will become softer and i am so grateful for authors like Cathryn Michon making that process a bit easier.
This was an absolutely adorable book! I Loved everything about it.
If you had a dog, or even if you didn’t, it definitely tugged on your heartstrings. It was beautifully written and the illustrations very excellent. I will recommend this book to anybody who has lost a beloved dog, or pet in general.
I will most certainly add this book to my personal library.
I loved this book more than words can say. We put our 15 year old dog down a few days ago and reading such kind thoughts and words from the dogs perspective is truly like ice on the wound. I will definitely be recommending this book to the rest of my family as well as other dog people going through the tough decision.
This book made me sob so hard. Such a sweet narrative and lovely illustrations. I recommend to those who have loved and lost a dog. Five star read!
"We go first so we can guide you."
I'm not sure if I would suggest this book to someone who recently lost a dog, as it doesn't focus on grief. Perhaps waiting a few months would be more appropriate, as it emphasizes cherishing the good memories and viewing life from a dog's perspective. The message is truly heartwarming and inspiring. There is so much we can learn from each other. Their love is incomparable, only those who have experienced it can truly comprehend. It's a pure and special feeling. The author did an excellent job portraying how dogs understand what truly matters in life, making them extraordinary.
The illustrations are absolutely stunning!! The artist perfectly captured the way dogs gaze at us.
Thanks to Andrews McMeel Publishing for the ARC!
