The Wild Lavender Bookshop is the 2nd book in the Someday Valley series, but it can easily be read as a standalone. Andy Delane has arrived in Someday Valley after receiving a letter from lawyer, Jackson Landry. Her father wanted her to hear his final words and she will finally meet her brothers. Andy is in government service, law enforcement and is hiding as someone she put away/will testify against is after her. She meets and works with local detective, Danny, who vows to protect her, but she doesn't want help, she is afraid to get anyone else hurt. There is some action and adventure as well as several other storylines involving romance.

I enjoyed this sweet story, but it seemed to be a bit disjointed with several relationships that didn't really fit together. I enjoyed the romantic suspense storyline, although I wasn't expecting that from the synopsis. Andy is a great character, independent, strong, smart and caring. She doesn't want anyone to get hurt, so is willing to go it alone, even though that is more dangerous. There are several secondary characters that add to the story, some a bit quirky which I liked. I think if I had read the first book, the relationships might have made a bit more sense. I will go back and read it so I have the full story. I do enjoy Jodi Thomas' writing, with a quickly moving story and a satisfactory ending. The audiobook was narrated by Jeanine Bartel, a new narrator to me. I enjoyed her voice, tone and expression thus enjoying the story as well.

I think the blurb needs to be rewritten, it gives away way to much about the story and doesn't indicate that the main couple is Andi/Danny.
The romance was all a bit to fast/sudden for two of the couples that the book follows.

I listened to this on audio and it was an engaging listen. I loved the bookstore aspect and the small town feel. I couldn’t really relate to the characters so for me, I was not invested and wasn’t drawn into the story. It was fun to listen to but it didn’t leave me raving about it. My thanks to the publisher for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

The Wild Lavendar Bookshop is an interweaving story about a Someday Valley, TX and all of its diverse inhabitants, both old and new. Jodi Thomas spins a tale that follows several subplots that all feed into a larger, overarching story. How all of the characters stories merge together was so wonderfully done.

If you want a book that gives you the warm fuzzies through multiple POVs and has HEAs for all the characters, this is the book for you! How there is so much story in such a short book is a compliment to the author. It was all done in such a believable fashion, while giving each POV their own voice and story.

I listened to the audio for this book, and the way the narrator gives each character their own voice really did the book justice. I loved the listening experience that came with the audio. It really helped to bring the story together. Great audiobook and very talented narrator.

Because there were so many stories and characters, it did make it hard to connect with the characters. I am glad that this is a series because there are a lot of moving parts and a lot of characters. You want to see how their stories play out, but you will have to wait until the next book.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. Anyone that loves books that do not follow just storyline will love this. The warm fuzzies you get makes it well worth reading!

I loved reading The Wild Lavender Bookshop by Jodi Thomas. It had a few different romances happening, mystery, suspense, and the feeling of friends, family and community. All fantastic elements of a story that you can get lost in. As always, it was good to see apperances from chacters that the reader meets in previous novels and fun to learn about the new characters.

Andi came to Someday Valley to accomplish two things, lay low for a while and meet the brothers she never realized she had. In doing that, she meets Danny, the Deputy assigned to protect her (although, she is the law herself).

Noah, the bookshop owner, finds himself connecting with the quiet girl he's admired for a few years - Cora Lee Buchanan, a local schoolteacher. Cora Lee's father, Bear, owns the building that Noah's bookshop is in. Bear has a secret of his own. Soon, all their lives start to intertwine as the danger Andi had been running from threatens to find it's way into Someday Valley.

When it comes to a Texas romance, Jodi Thomas does it best.

Jeanine Bartel did a fantastic job of narrating this book!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Books ~ Family ~ Texas ~ Romance ~ Small-town setting ~ Sisters ~ Love ~ Quirky characters

Thank you NetGalley and RB Media for the ARC to review this audiobook. I'm sorry to say this book was not what I was expecting. Romance is just not my genre. All opinions are my own.

Meh.

I've listened to this audiobook from start to finish, and I'm still not sure what genre it was. Apparently, it’s a romance - which explains the corny stuff- but, to me, it looked more like a ... Bad action thriller ? Everything felt disconnected : The title of the book that has practically nothing to do with the story, the somewhat serious main plot (Andy being hunted by a drug cartel) Vs. the corny secondary love stories that were useless frankly, the way Andy's character seemed to magically change, from being portrayed as friecely independant (detached even) to calling strangers she just met "brothers" ...

I can’t say the generic "this book wasn’t for me" here, because romance books are my favourite, and I enjoy small-town settings in almost every genre. Multiple subplots ? Yes please. But something just wasn't right about this one.

🎧 Audiobook : 1/5 I rarely have something negative to say about the narrators' performances, but I honestly can't say that this one did a good job. I disliked her accent and her voice.

Thank you NetGalley and RB Media for the opportunity to listen to and review this audiobook. All opinions are my own.

This book was different. I love books that are set in cozy little bookshops but this one was different had a little mystery a little love and the police undercover was very interesting as well. Would make a beautiful movie!

Another small town romance from one of the best in the business. Ms. Thomas is a master of interweaving multiple stories into one complete storyline. I would have like more interaction with the residents of Somewhere Valley.
I will admit that I ended up reading the book instead of finishing the audio. I found the narrator's voice to be a bit annoying after about the halfway mark.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this audiobook.

The three couples that this book follows are interesting. At the beginning I felt like the book was discussing more about Andi and Danny, but as the storyline continued, you get to learn more about the other two couples - Cora Lee and Noah | Bear and Eliza. I think the only couple who was denying their feelings for each other were Danny and Andi, well it was mainly Andi who was denying it. I can see from her perspective of why she didn't want to be tied down - because she didn't want to endanger those she loved. But I think Andi also forgot what career Danny is in as well. I just adored Eliza and Bear, who are the oldest of the couples. Listening to their history and their current story made me root for them. The way Bear treats her is, what I believe all people should treat someone they have feelings for. Cora Lee and Noah's story was cute, once they admitted how they felt for each other, I felt like it was end game. This was really a great read.

Thanks to #netgalley, Jodi Thomas and RB Media for this arc.

Follows several characters in Someday Valley, Texas.

Each of these characters has some relationship they are developing. The story was sweet. The romance felt a little rushed to me. The blurb said slow burn, but I did not find it slow burn and some was pretty quick and the connections did not feel genuine to me.

The Wild Lavender Bookshop as a setting itself seemed like it was lacking. I was hoping that it would maybe be more of a center of the story.

I really liked Andy Delane part of the story, but the suspense threw me for a loop since I figured this would be just a contemporary romance.

Regardless, it was an easy read and a good palette cleanser.

This romance itself is pretty clean, I did not find any offensive content.

I got a copy of this book for free from the publisher in exchange of a review.

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version.
I did not know this was part of a series. I felt like this book just starts and you are instantly lost. But I really didn't like any of the characters and the plot was just okay. The narrator did a good job but I was just not hooked.

This is the second book in this series, but it can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read the first book, but this did not feel like the story was connected to other books.

The book features three different couples that are also in different stages of their life and the story accumulates when all three couples come together at the end.

I really enjoyed the small town setting. However, for such a short book, there was just a bit too much going on. I sometimes had a hard time keeping the stories of the two younger couples apart, specifically the background story of Noah and the deputy, this might also be because I listened to this on audiobook. I am also not too sure if the storyline actually made any sense either. Especially, Andy’s background story and her way of ‚protecting‘ the family she didn’t know about by coming to their town made very little sense to me. Bear’s storyline was sweet in the present, but I could not get over the fact that he showed interest in his significant other when she was still a child. Given that he has children of his own, the age gap made me feel uncomfortable.

Thank you to NetGalley and RB Media for gifting me this ALC of the audiobook to review.

cozy books are typically my go to. but I just couldn't sink into this book. the vibes were just off. There's a certain balance needed in these books and something was just askew with this one.

I recently had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook "The Wild Lavender Bookshop" by Jodi Thomas, narrated by Jeanine Bartel. While I was excited to listen to this story, I must admit that I couldn't get invested enough to connect with the characters or the storyline. I felt that too many characters were introduced too early in the book, making it difficult to keep track of their individual storylines. DNF only completed 25% before realizing it wasn't for me.

There is a full cast of characters. Each interwoven with each other. They all have big personalities that comes out in the story. There is a mystery feel to it throughout with romance. Noah the bookshop owner. Cora Lee who is a teacher living in the same building. Bear the town fix it person and the father of Cora Lee. Eliza who keeps to herself and has an unexpected secret behind her. Dan the town deputy assigned to protect Andi who’s a detective from Dallas who shows up in town to find her long lost brothers that she just learned about and is hiding away in this small town for other reasons. You will enjoy these characters as they develop in the story. It has that small town feeling to it! There are twist and turns and some surprising developments and loads of romance. If you like Robyn Carr and Susan Mallery’s stories you will love Jodi Thomas! Definitely enjoyed this audiobook! Narrator did a good job! Enjoyed her voice! You can listen to this as a stand alone like I did. Don’t pass this one up! I always enjoy Jodi Thomas! A must read!

Thank you NetGalley and the publishers in letting me read this book and allowing me to leave an honest review.

This Austin girlie really enjoyed the world building in this book. I recognized a lot of the settings in the book. In addition to the great scenery, I thoroughly enjoyed the relationships, and there are many relationships to keep track of. There was steamy love, sweet love, and strained love.

Adventure from start to finish, you go on the run with these wild characters. Running from a family members haunting past, you go on the journey with each character as they find themselves.

Take a stroll through the Texas Bluebonnets and fall in love at The Wild Lavender Bookshop.

Thank You to NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book. The thoughts and opinions on this book are my own.
