Enjoying the story. Some answers from Vol 1. More questions from Vol 2. More twists and turns with a great blend of answers and questions to make me excited for Vol 3.
Such a fun second volume! I think the first one remains my favourite so far but I really enjoyed this one and so far love Nei who is introduced this volume. She’s such a fun character and I especially love her scenes with Alma. As always, the art for this series is absolutely stunning!
Alma and Tao are back for another set of mysteries. Alma meets a weird fellow at the shrine and parts with some of his food. Tis likely that he and his "family" will show up later in the series. Alma and Nei, another troubleshooter, go out after some monsters together and Alma learns his weakness. Alma later befriends a street girl named Kanata who you really do not want to get on the wrong side of. Then there is the case where Alma and Tao free some mermaids from durance vile! In al a very interesting collection of short chapters that build up the story-line incrementally. Nice art helps provide the proper vibe for the tale!
Thanks Netgalley and Viz Media for the chance to read this title!
Gokurakugai's art is great, and it's good to see that the quality has not declined in volume 2. The overarching plot, though, where is it going? It's hard to tell based on how this volume went. Volume 2 does have one-shot that kicked off this serialization, and it was interesting to see how they changed some elements/character designs. I am looking forward to volume 3, but I hope it has more than pretty art to keep my attention.

The character designs are so sexy! How can I focus on the plot when everybody looks so good? Sheesh.
In volume 2 of "Gokurakugai" we spend a short time with some shady characters. Yoru and Yumi are giving me "Jujutsu Kaisen" vibes. We hate to love a good-looking villain. Or at least I do. I am curious to see what chaos they will cause in the next volume.
"Gokurakugai, Vol. 2" continues the thrilling adventures of Alma and Tao, the troubleshooters of a lawless town filled with monsters and mysteries. Yuto Sano masterfully weaves together elements of action, suspense, and supernatural intrigue in this captivating volume.
One of the highlights of this installment is the introduction of a mysterious young man, adding depth to the narrative and leaving readers eager to uncover his secrets. Sano's characterization shines through, particularly in the dynamic between Alma and Tao, showcasing their camaraderie and contrasting personalities.
The plot, centered around a series of chilling murders and the presence of human-devouring monsters, keeps readers on the edge of their seats with its twists and turns. Sano's world-building continues to impress, painting a vivid picture of the eerie yet fascinating setting of Gokurakugai.
Overall, "Gokurakugai, Vol. 2" delivers another exciting chapter in this captivating series. With its compelling characters, intricate plot, and atmospheric setting, it's a must-read for fans of supernatural mysteries and action-packed storytelling
Thank you for my early copy!
As always, the art is stunning. The new conflicts introduced in this volume were really interesting and kept it fresh, it had me flying through the pages! Also monsters and mafia, what a combo, it's been done in a fair few manga title's, but this one just seems to flow so smoothly, keeping you gripped and I now have started a mental theory board for what I think may happen, and for me, that's a sign of a good story, one that keeps you thinking about it even after you've put it down.
Also, Tao, just, omg 😍
Starting off strong by mysteriously introducing two characters that seem to be antagonists and finishing it off with posing a conflict for one of the main characters!! I absolutely love the art, pacing, and the entire story as a whole.
There’s not much that I can say in terms of improvement since mangas build on previous volumes and I can see the shape that the manga is trying to take right now.
