Magick, romance, and humor all in one? A cozy romance? Sign me up. This super cute and funny read got me excited for autumn and Halloween decorating.

The not-so-good -
*I initially found it took a little while to get into,
*a little predictable

The good-
*chemistry,
*magic,
*character growth,
*aunts and great aunts galore,
*full of excellent side characters,
*the humor,
*the writing

Fingers crossed that this is a series starter.

This was my first time reading the author, and I will definitely read more.

A delightful fall witchy read. A little cheesy at times, but overall I loved this!

It's third person, dual POV.

Delia Merriweather comes from a long line of powerful witches, according to her very magic-less grandma and aunts. They just happen to be hexed.

She thinks it’s just an odd belief they hold, as does the town. They believe that she is a Blue Witch that has the power to break the hex. So every blue moon they make a soup, er, potion in hopes their magic will return.

Max is a powerful hex breaker. He also happens to be the descendant of the man who hexed Delia’s family. He’s in town to keep an eye on the Merriweather women and make sure Delia doesn’t break the spell before her 30th birthday.

The side characters are amazing. The Merriweather women are hilarious, Nikki the familiar being both a human and a cat is *chefs kiss*, and Luc the brother is so clearly going to fall for Amy in the future.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for my advanced digital copy!

This book definitely put me in the mood to break out Halloween decor and put on Practical Magic! This was such a cute and cozy read with all the fall vibes you could want. Parts of the book did drag a little but then picked up again so the pacing wasn't quite consistent but still a good read.

This is the PERFECT Fall/Halloween book! It’s like Practical Magic and a Hallmark movie had a baby. This was a fun, easy read. The characters were hilarious and belie it or not, relatable. Definitely add this to your fall tbr!

Thank you NetGalley and the author for providing a copy of this book for my honest review!

What a perfect blend of cozy, magical and steamy does this book bring. I would love this becoming an extended universe and would eat up any prequels telling me all about the world this book is set in.

Both MCs are adorable and relatable. It’s an easy read that can feel slightly rushed at times, but I think the author did a great job pacing themselves overall and told me enough through the book to leave me wanting more. It is also refreshing to see a witchy female MC that is the total opposite of dark & brooding, she’s sugar, spice and everything nice - bubbly and delightfully southern y’all. Although she’s described curvy, that’s not her entire personality and the book doesn’t revolve around it, she’s sexy and adorable and it has nothing to do with her size.

When it comes to the more intimate parts of it, I believe the author struck the perfect balance of it both making something stirr inside of me, but also brought me to giggles and blushing out of how cute their interactions were.

You should pick this if you’re wanting to cozy up with a cute, funny and slightly spicy read for the fall, this will be the perfect book to start.

What a creative funny read! Delta's family puts the E in eccentric. There were so many times I had to laugh. I mean who says "slapped the salami with me?" And the "zingus butticus" literally mad me snort. What a clever story and so very enjoyable.

This was such a cute book! The magical realism was so fun to read about. The book remained cozy despite there being some big obstacles for our main characters to overcome. The grumpy x sunshine dynamic was absolutely delightful, especially when paired with outsider to a small town trope. Watching Max find a home in this tiny town in Texas was just as heartwarming as the actual romance plot. Max, Delia, Ian and Nikki stole my heart and I was very invested in them finding happiness. Max especially really wormed his way into my heart. It was adorable watching someone who had been raised to value logic above all else grapple with having *gasp* a crush. His journey was really sweet to watch and I hope that this turns out to be a series because I want happiness for the side characters too. Nikki had my whole heart so I really hope if there is a book 2, he's the main character. If you're looking for a cozy, witchy romcom to curl up with this is definitely the book for you!

This book was exactly what it was marketed as, just a cozy fun read with all the practical magic vibes you could want. I do feel like it dragged a little, as in halfway through and the big drama of the curse stuff hadn't even happened yet, but overall I still really enjoyed it and think its the perfect fall cozy easy read

This is a cute witchy book to get you into the mood of Halloween. It was slow moving in parts, but overall an enjoyable book. The growth Max's character has is great. Grandma Maddie is a hoot! Definitely will look into more Carly Bloom books!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

I was so excited to see Carly Bloom is back with a new book! I loved her Once Upon a Time in Texas series, and this book is just as good with a fun paranormal twist. It was charming, entertaining, funny, and so much fun to read!

Delia doesn't believe in magic. However, she humors the other women in her family who believe they are witches whose family was cursed many years ago. Max is only supposed to be in town to settle his uncle's estate and to make sure Delia doesn't break the curse. I loved the two of them both individually and as a couple. They were so different, but brought out great things in one another. Their connection is undeniable despite the rules and their own hesitations about relationships.

The secondary characters were fantastic, too. I loved both Delia and Max's families and friends. They were also very different, but added a lot of humor and fun to the story. I really hope we get to read some of their stories. It would be interesting to learn more about the magic system, the witch stronghold Shadowlark, and to see what is different after the events of this story. I am already looking forward to rereading this book in the future and seeing what Carly writes next!

This was SOOO cute and funny with a whole lotta heart, body, and soul. Sure, it did start off a little slow in the beginning when explaining the history and magic system, but it picked up so good in the end (chef's kiss) that it just blew me away. Very creative and sweet, but magical and had me anxiously flipping the pages to see what as next.
So we have our FMC Delia Merriweather who is an alleged "blue witch", but doesn't believe in magic whatsoever, despite what her family claims. The Merriweather family is very eccentric and on the fringes of society, not having anywhere to belong as nobody believes their claim to be witches, of course, including Delia. Still, it's hard to deny the strangeness that surrounds them. Every time the Merriweather women fall in love with anybody, the are met with a terrible demise. And so, Delia accepts the fate as single, and of course, not a witch. Just weird.
Things take a strange turn indeed when Max, her beloved late neighbor's nephew, shows up to sell the Halifax Manor. He's eccentric AND rude, but he's oh so hot, and for that, Delia can't deny the pull of his charms. As she teams up with him as an interior decorator to help sell his manor, sparks fly, and in more than one way, but against his will. As a Logos witch, he is ruled by his mind and mind alone, and as much as he thinks he may like Delia, he has to keep his distance due to a troubled history between his family and hers. But being in close proximity to her, he can't deny the attraction between them, and when she mysteriously breaks an ancient hex, all HECK breaks loose with some hilarious results.
The magic system here, as I've said before, is incredible and creative. I really loved learning about it as well as the history of Willow Root and Shadowlark and the witchy world. The characters and their motivations made it so easy to understand and love them, and I think the story kept getting better after the hex his broken when we end up finding out the truth as to the true nature of the hex. This is something of a Romeo and Juliet type story--except that Romeo and Juilet end up fixing their own ending. There's also some found family dyanmics that are sure to touch anyone's heart, and themes of finding your true place and destiny in life. Some of the twists end up being quite surprising, but it adds to the love and charm of Willow Root. I sure wish Mourning Glory Cafe exists irl by the way.

Hot Hex Boyfriend by Carly Bloom is a super cute lighthearted contemporary witchy romance — Delia Meriweather doesn’t believe in witchcraft, but her quirky family is convinced that they are witches that have been hexed, they are hopeful they can break the curse and regain their magic.

After Delia’s neighbor passes away - his nephew Max has come to take over the estate along with his brother. Max knows more about the hex on the Meriweathers and his POV is delightful alongside Delia’s throughout the novel.

This book is hilarious - I found myself chuckling throughout the piece. There’s a lot of silly situations along with the zany characters that make it hard to put this book down. I had a lot of fun reading this one, and I was surprised at the spiciness that we are given as the somewhat forbidden romance unfolds.

I highly recommend this one to fantasy lovers looking for a cozy read and a laugh - this will be perfect to curl up and read on a cool autumn day with a warm beverage. I look forward to reading more from Carly Bloom.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Forever (Grant Central Publishing) for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Hot Hex Boyfriend is a super fun & lighthearted witchy read! It has an eccentric yet hilarious and lovable cast of characters and a very sweet romance with a dual POV. I enjoyed the different types of witches & kinds of magic and how there were a bunch of little mysteries to solve along the way. The ending especially warmed my heart and almost brought a tear to my eye. I would definitely recommend reading this in the fall, it made me even more excited for spooky season.

Thank you to Forever for the ARC!

Delia doesn’t believe she’s a witch, despite the insistence of Grandma Maddie and her aunties. Every year they make their special soup to try and break the hex placed on them hundreds of years ago that tamps down their magic. Max knows she’s a witch and has moved next door to handle his recently deceased uncle’s estate and make sure that the hex placed on Delia and her family doesn’t get broken by her 30th birthday.
On top of that, someone is hexing Delia in the present day, causing problems with all of her business ventures.

This book was so good, I ate it up in one day. It reminded me of a mashup of Practical Magic and the show Warehouse 13. The writing sucks you in with the southern charm so you feel like you live in Willow Creek too. The story is so funny, from the quirky antics of the aunties grandma and Luc’s quips to awkward sexytime interruptions. I loved the banter between the characters too. The book was cute and cozy- it’s the perfect book to read away a fall afternoon

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

I read this whole book in a day - it was just so much fun!! This book feels reminiscent of the series by Erin Sterling and is a great lighthearted addition to the genre, while still managing to capture your attention. The plot surrounding a nefarious system run in the city by Logos witches helped the world feel real, and like there were real consequences and a society outside of the little romance cuteness of our main couple. I think the magic system, while very simple, was not at all the center of the story and wasn't particularly complicated in that way - I'm still a little lost as to some of the side magic systems (?? Animus) but this was presented as sort of lost information in general due to the way in which the central powers had taken over and erased a lot of information for generations. This book was a great standalone - I didn't feel particularly strongly about a need for a sequel, though I could see one in the works for our best friend and brother (separately? together?) that I would definitely read. And this book was written well enough to feel the warmth (and lack of it), with bits of humor sprinkled in (like why did I find the dumb dinner so absolutely hilarious??) with genuine sadness in me when I discovered some consequences for characters that I shan't spoil. Overall, this was a 4.5/5 for simply passing the time and its bits of humor - will definitely be on the lookout for this author and any future books!!

Hot Hex Boyfriend by Carly Bloom is a fun, fall contemporary fiction that has me ready for autumn.

This was an entertaining contemporary fiction that had mystery, suspense, romance, and a whole lot of Halloween fun and vibes.

I think the best part of the book, in my opinion, was the addition of Delia’s fun, quirky, and lovable family, flaws and all. The interactions, storylines, and love that the Merriweather family had for another was the gem for me.

I really liked this story and recommend it to anyone that likes Halloween themed books, and anyone that likes a good cast of quirky, unique, and charming characters.

Cute, cute, cute. It's funny and has such sweet and cozy witchy vibes.

Delia and her extended family (female), are witches but are hexed. Delia breaks the hex and now there's a gaggle of females with witchy powers. Max has been sent to help the women manage their power, except there's one that gets under his skin and soon he's under her spell.

A lovely romance. Quirky, fun and funny.

This book was such a fun read. It has all the perfect vibes for fall with this book having witches, imps, and demons in it. I love how quirky Delia's family is in this book. It reminds me somewhat of how my own family can be. I love how this story comes together in the end. I also love how caring, friendly, and just generally wonderful Delia is. She is such a well written character that she seems as if she could be a real person. I would 100% reread this book.

This is going to be so much fun for fall. It's witchy vibes are perfect for Halloween and the mood reading we will want in that time of year. This is the story of a family of witches that's been hexed and is trying to break it. And the hot neighbor who knows what to do but doesn't want the hex broken.

This was such a sweet and adorable book. There are times when it's a bit cheesy and it took me a bit to get hooked, but once I did, I was in deep. It made me laugh, tear up, and fan my face and that's pretty much all of my favorite things in a book! The plot was somewhat predictable but easy to follow and endearing. The characters are so easy to love.
