“You might want to prepare yourself. My mother is…weird.”
“Are you serious? After meeting my relatives, you still think yours can compete in the weird category?”
“Yes.”

This is such a fun, witchy romance! It doesn’t take itself too seriously, which made for a lighthearted read despite family curses, death of loved ones, and a few dark moments. I loved how my understanding of the town and the general magical world shifted and grew as the story progressed. I appreciated the parallels between Delia’s chaotic but loving family and Max’s respectable family. Also, the banter is top-notch. I had a hard time choosing which quote to include with my review, there are just so many good ones! Grandma Maddie and the aunts are hilarious and Nikki is low-key savage. He says some zingers.

As far as I know, this is a standalone, but I can see potential for future books featuring some of the other characters like Max’s brother or Delia’s best friend.

This wa a funny witchy romance. I found the family to be very entertaining and lovely. I liked the outside friendships. I just wanted a bit more from the hierarchy.

4.5⭐️ - I LOVED this book! Devoured it in one sitting. Delia and Max’s slow burn grumpy/sunshine dislike to lovers forbidden love had me completely hooked line and sinker. Luc and Nikki were excellent side characters to complement Max, and Delia’s family was incredible!

This is the perfect witchy rom com! Cozy, small town, & magical feels!

A fun Practical Magic-esque story featuring a witch who has a family curse that if she falls in love... her beloved will absolutely be harmed. All her life she's been able to resist until now... when a handsome witch moves in next door. Delia Merriweather comes from a family of witches and they've all been living by the hex that has been placed on them. Delia has managed to keep herself from breaking the hext until she meets max. Max was assigned the job of watching the Merriweather women to make sure that their magic doesn't get out of control. Max has also vowed never to fall in love but can't help but fall for the cute witch next door. Max knows he shouldn't fall for Delia and that his magic and hers are definitely to explode when they come together. It doesn't help that Delia doesn't exactly know what kind of witch she is or how to control her magic. Can Delia and Max work it out or were they never meant to be? This was just a warm autumnal witchy romance perfect for the autumn time. It perfectly captures the Practical Magic vibes and I would absolutely recommend it!

This book delivers a solid and engaging story that kept me hooked from beginning to end. The author has a knack for creating vivid, believable characters and a world that feels both familiar and fresh. The plot is well-paced, with just enough twists and turns to keep things interesting without becoming overly complex.

One of the highlights is the dialogue, which feels natural and helps to build the relationships between the characters. The themes explored are thought-provoking, adding depth to the story without being too heavy-handed.

However, there are a few minor drawbacks. Some sections felt a bit drawn out, and there were moments when the pacing lagged. Additionally, while the ending was satisfying, it felt a little rushed compared to the rest of the book.

Overall, this is a strong and enjoyable read that I would recommend to fans of the genre. It's not without its flaws, but the positives far outweigh the negatives, making it a book worth your time.

Just in time for the unofficial beginning of fall, we've got the first great witchy romance of the year. This one is so charming (ha!), with excellent characters and chemistry, lots of humor, and a magic system that seems comprehensible enough for us non-fantasy readers. I have loved Carly Bloom for a while, and while this was a little different than the last books I read and loved from her, it had the same entertaining "tone" I love.

How excited I am to be reading witchy books again!!

First I want to say thank you to NetGalley for approving me to read this book in exchange for an honest review!

This book is fun, witchy, a lil’ spicy and all the dramatics! 😍 Delia is our main character and her entire family believes they are witches but have no magic. Well, it turns out they ARE witches but they were hexed ages ago and don’t have access to their magic.

Insert Max. He’s in town to make sure Delia doesn’t break the hex before her 30th birthday. But is there maybe a little spark between the two of them? 👀

Also, there is a black cat sooo obviously that helped the story in my book lol.

✔️Witchy Vibes
✔️Crazy & Eccentric Family
✔️Black Cat Who Turns Into a Cool Guy
✔️Psycho High Priestess
✔️Demons (not that scary though)
✔️Tensionnnn & Some Spice!

This book comes out next week!! Give it a try! 😍

I didn’t know what to expect from this new to me author and her book ‘Hot Hex Boyfriend’ but I do love a good witchy read. The plot line had me intrigued, a family hexed to not be able to do magic and warlocks watching over them so they don’t break that hex. Delia has been blessed with fairy magic but she feels her life is cursed until she unwittingly breaks the hex that has plagued her family and begins falling for the prickly warlock next door, Max, who turns out to be a golden retriever MMC. As the truth comes out about why the family was hexed Max rushed to save her magic and their budding relationship.

I really loved the progression of Max and Delia’s relationship and their interplay with both of their families was really fun. I loved how Max’s perspectives on witchcraft changed the more he knew about Delia’s situation and how open minded he was as well as how quick he was to come to Delia’s defence. Also, I liked the mystery element to the story towards the end. I found the story slow at the beginning and it was a very drawn out romance before they finally got together which I didn’t enjoy as much. Overall I really enjoyed this and I will definitely look to read from this author again, maybe a sequel for Amy and Luc’s story?!

I couldn't get into this one I was about 25% and truly nothing happens. It is very slow and not keeping my interest at all. I had to DNF.

This was such a fun book! I would say that it’s definitely a cozy romance and perfect for autumn or spooky season. I loved the Merriweather family to pieces; they were full of humor and were just utterly delightful! The romance was magical and had some tension, which I always enjoy.😏 I’d absolutely recommend this book, especially if you’re looking for something to remind you of movies like Halloweentown & Practical Magic and also give you cozy, small town Hallmark vibes (Good Witch) and feelings that remind you of Gilmore Girls. 🧡

Thanks so much NetGalley & Forever! It was such a pleasure to read this book!

Synopsis:
Delia Merriweather grew up believing she was a witch, like all the women in her family, but none of them ever had any magic. Now an adult, Delia is skeptical about magic—until she accidentally breaks a hex and restores her family’s powers. Suddenly, she’s forced to navigate a new reality where she truly is a witch. This might also explain why her mysteriously handsome neighbor, Max, has been watching her so closely, as if waiting for her to fly off on a broomstick.

My Thoughts:
If I’m being honest, I had high hopes that Hot Hex Boyfriend would be a cozy, magical read perfect for fall, but it fell a little flat for me. The romance between Delia and Max didn’t quite sizzle, and their chemistry was lacking. Their relationship felt more like a subplot than a central focus, which made it less engaging.

The pacing also affected my enjoyment. The story had a slow start, and the main plot from the synopsis didn’t really kick off until about halfway through. By that point, I was ready for the pace to pick up and found myself more interested in just reaching the end. The last 20% of the book was where things finally started to get interesting for me, and I found those sections the most enjoyable.

One highlight was definitely Nikki, Max’s uncle’s imp familiar. An imp who can shift between cat and human forms, Nikki was funny, sneaky, and sweet, bringing a lot of humor to the story. His antics were delightful, and honestly, a whole book about him would have been fantastic!

The adorable cover was also a big plus and definitely worth mentioning. Overall, I’m giving this book 3.5 stars, mainly for Nikki and the charming cover. It didn’t fully meet my cozy fall expectations, but it still has some whimsical moments worth checking out. Hot Hex Boyfriend will be available on September 3!

Wow! This was an unexpected and fun find for me. Thanks to NetGalley and Forever publishing for giving me the chance to discover this fun adventure that I didn’t know I needed. In this fun romance Max has been keeping an eye on the Merrieather women. Delia hasn’t believed in magic until she breaks the hex and restores her family’s powers. Now Max has to help keep the family and the clueless new witch from exposing witches to the world.
Both discover unexpected feelings and aren’t sure how to handle it.
This was super fun packed with amazing detailed characters, humor and of course magic! The author,Carly Bloom, was new to me and I have become a huge fan. This book really grabbed me from the start. It was the perfect little cozy romance with a magical twist that I really needed. I loved the fun and relaxed feeling the story gave me. Perfect for a snuggle up and read book for fall. You're going to love this one. I can’t wait to read more.

Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the advance reader copy of Hot Hex Boyfriend by Carly Bloom.

Following his uncle’s passing, Max must both settle the estate and monitor the hex on the Merriweather family. When it’s broken, Max has to balance his and his family’s concern regarding the Merriweather family and the growing feelings that he has for Delia. Delia has a talent as an interior designer which creates the perfect opportunity for Max to use her skillset to work on his uncle’s house.

This book is very lighthearted with really lovable characters. I found our main characters, Delia and Max, to be very enchanting. In addition to being lighthearted, there’s definitely humor built in throughout this story. I was surprised by how much of a slow burn this story was, but given the plot setup, we get tons of time with Delia and Max. Their relationship is complicated with Max and the family’s hex, however, as the story progresses, Delia also has her own concerns to deal with which sets up sensible third act tension in their relationship. The side characters are also so fun, both families and of course, the cat! A lighthearted read if you’re looking for a fun rom com this fall season.

A [love] story between a hedge witch and a witch hunter? It wasn't very clear and the story was incredibly dull. It doesn't go anywhere and the book just talks in circles. Very disappointed. I had high expectations.

Hot Hex Boyfriend is a cute romance with a mix of humor and witchy elements. Delia is a witch whose family has been hexed to lose their magic, and that happened so long ago that Delia doesn't even believe the family lore that they once had magic. Max is a descendant of the person who hexed Delia's family, and he's currently watching her family to make sure she doesn't remove the hex by the deadline of her 30th birthday. This book is cute and readable, but the actual plot of the book doesn't seem to actually kick in until the halfway point. The romcom elements of the book are a lot of fun, and the side characters are a strong point.

Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. These opinions are my own.

This book is such a delight! I has a super unique set up. Delia thinks her family is deluded with their family lore that they are witches under a powerful hex. But they are correct. And Max is in town to make sure she does not break the hex before her thirtieth birthday when she will lose the ability to do so.

It is completely different from any witchy romance I have ever read before. I loved the magical system and world that Carly Bloom created, and I would dearly enjoy reading more set there.

Delia and Max seem such an unlikely pairing. They do way beyond opposites attract with actual teachings that he should be ruled by his mind, rather than his heart. And how they come together surprised and enchanted me.

Plus she has a great best friend in Amy. His friends, her family, his familiar are all wonderful. The book tackles consent in a beautiful way by addressing love spells.

I know this will be one I reach for again and again when feeling the need for a witchy read. It's set around Halloween and an especially perfect romance for this time of year.

3.5/5 stars

I was so excited about this book because I love this author’s Cowboy romance books.

I wanted to like this book so bad, but the romance just fell flat and was kind of boring.

I enjoyed all the witchy stuff and the Merriweather family and Nikki way more than the romance between Delia and Max.

If you are looking for a fun witchy vibes story, look no further. Delia and her family are fun and quirky and believed they were witches despite not having any witchy powers. Max moves in next door to sell his recently deceased uncle's home. Max and Delia ends up working together to stage the home and I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop. Both Delia and Max's family added such a fun element to the story.

Laura Knight Keating and Zion Kang did a great job with the characters.

I am so glad I got to read Hot Hex Boyfriend by Carly Bloom before it hits the shelves on September 3. Now I can recommend it to my friends, and really anyone who wants a great witch book, for their fall tbr. Delia and her family are the kind of ladies I wish would take me in and friend me. This book has humor, found family, love, magic, witches, and a cafe that I wish was a real life thing. There’s even a little spice. It has a small town feel and was a fun read. It is a very cozy read just in time for cozy season. Thank you NetGalley and Forever Publishing for an arc ebook.

What a fun witchy romance!

4.5 rounded up

Delia Merryweather doesn’t believe in magic but all of her older quirky aunts/gran are convinced they are witches that have been hexed to not be able to use magic. Everyone just assumes they are eccentric and a bit silly except for their next door neighbor Halifax who unfortunately just died. His nephews come to put his affairs in order and to make sure the Merriweathers aren’t up to anything nefarious.

This was so cute. I adore a gaggle of older ladies with limited filters. And the romance was sweet. It had a little bit of spice but not much.

A great read for Halloween!
