Thank you to Forever Publishing for the ARC of this book! This one definitely gives Sabrina the Teenage Witch vibes and it was super fun! It got a bit of a slow start for me or I probably would have rated it higher than 3, I just had a little trouble getting into the story line. I felt that the writing style was fun. It was one part rom com, one part mystery with a whole bunch of magic. The whole story takes place in the world as we know it so I wouldn't call it a fantasy book. The vibes were similar to Bride by Ali Hazelwood. I would probably read more books by this author in the future and appreciate the opportunity to review it!

First of all, this book was so much fun: I loved the Merriweather witches, Delia, Nikki and Luc! Max was also a great character and I loved seeing him getting roped into the Merriweather chaotic life train 🤣 the chemistry between him and Delia was top notch and, overall, Hot Hex Boyfriend was everything that a loved in a cozy witchy romance!

"Hot Hex Boyfriend" by Carly Bloom is a delightful blend of humor and magic! 🧙‍♀️ Delia’s misadventures kept me entertained from start to finish, and the chemistry between the characters was electric. The sudden twist towards the end had me flipping pages faster than I expected—talk about a speed read! 😅 But those final pages? They managed to tug at my heart just the right way. 💫

This was so much fun & the witchy romance I didn't know I needed! I loved Delia & her family and how truly they believed they were witches. The town's people were fantastic as were the MCs.

Lucien and Max (and their fam) trying to fit in in the human world was hilarious.
There's a lot of quirky things that took place throughout the book but that's part of what hooked me and while it's a romance there's so much more going on!

Thanks to NetGalley, Forever (Grand Central Pub) & Hachette Audio for advance copies

I read the book and listened to the audiobook of Hot Hex Boyfriend. I loved the story but actually preferred reading the book to listening in this case. First of all, I adored the Merriweather women! They all have such fun personalities and I would love to spend a day with them. Throw cold and logical Max into the mix and you have a perfect combination of grumpy/sunshine with a magical twist. This was an enjoyable read and is a perfect addition to a spooky season TBR!

I enjoyed reading this book. At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about a book with witches but I have to say I was *charmed*. It’s a perfect book to get into the Halloween spirit and I liked how the book made sure to cover all the bases to maintain a strong storyline. It was nice to see that there were no holes left in this story’s plot.

This is the first book I have read by Carly Bloom. Romance is my favorite genre and I read the whole spectrum of romance, so this paranormal romance sounded like fun.....and it was.

Delia and her family are witches, but generations prior her family was hexed and their magic was taken. So while family lore was that they were witches, Delia as the youngest did not believe the story. She believes that her family is slightly nutty. When the hex on her family was set, a provision was included that a blue witch could break the hex. Delia is that blue witch, but since she doesn't believe any of it, she isn't trying to break the hex.

In enters Max, the handsome nephew of Delia's deceased neighbor and he has a secret - several secrets really. A major one is that he was sent to ensure the hex wasn't broken, but he didn't expect to be so attracted to Delia.

This book was so fun. It was part mystery, part romance, part fantasy, and all of it was delicious. I loved Delia and Max, but I also loved the supporting characters especially Nikki the imp.

I have to admit that it took me a couple of chapters to really get into the story, but once it grabbed me, it didn't let go. If you are looking for a fun, mostly closed door romance, this one is for you. Thank you to Carly Bloom and NetGalley for letting me read this book prior to its release date.

I really really enjoyed this cozy witchy read! The Merriweathers were an absolute riot and I found their antics to be absolutely delightful. Delia is a strong and really relatable character. It was nice to see her come out of her shell more and more as the story went on. All of the characters in this book lend a special something to the movement of the plot. I really liked Max and found his demeanor while off putting at first was just a defense mechanism. Once he started opening up he quickly became the leading man we needed. I also appreciated the magic system and a new take on witches and power distribution. All in all this is the perfect witchy romcom for this fall!

I don’t even know where to begin with this one… I was bored but also so confused and just could not get into . I ended up skimming the last 50% of the book. It had cute elements, but could have been half as long - so much was repetition or unnecessary detail. I feel like the plot itself was mundane & surface-level, while the character development was non-existent. Like was Cordelia really so dumb that she didn't figure anything out until the very end? I just couldn't even like her as a character.

It did give Sabrina the teenage witch vibes which I loved (including the crazy aunts)! I’m mostly bummed because the premise was cute & perfect for a cozy, fall read. I’m sure others will read it & love it, just a miss for me.

What a perfect read for the fall!!

Delia Merriweather never imagined she'd become the witch she always believed she was as a child—until a twist of fate proves her right in the most unexpected way.

Delia accidentally breaks a hex, restoring her family’s long-lost powers and setting the stage for a magical adventure.

Her mysteriously attractive neighbor, Max, seems to know more about her powers than she does!

This book is an absolute delight, perfect for anyone craving a light-hearted read with a magic.

The characters are wonderfully quirky and funny!

If you enjoy romantic comedies with a magical twist, this book will charm you from the first page to the last.

Calling all Practical Magic fans!!!!
This is the perfect read for this autumn! Grab you tea and your favorite blanket because you will not put this down. I found the family and mc relationship is really wholesome as they navigate the hex that left these witches…witchless. Then comes in Max, the male lead that is there to keep an eye on the blue witch.
Thank you net galley and the publisher for this ARC

A fun fall read with plenty of quirky witches!

Hot Hex Boyfriend centers on Delia Merriweather, who is believed to be the “Blue Witch” who will break her family’s hex and free their magic. Except Delia does not believe in magic or witches. Max has been sent to keep an eye on the Merriweathers and prevent them from breaking their hex at all costs. But Max catches feelings for Delia and is soon torn between his duty and his newfound friends.

I loved all of the characters in this book so much, especially Delia’s family! The Merriweathers cared so much about each other and were hilarious in their antics. I also loved Nikki, Max’s familiar, who alternates between human and cat form. Delia and Max’s relationship is sweet, and they have a perfect slow burn throughout the story.

I hope we get more books set in Willow Root, which gave me Practical Magic meets Texas vibes! I would love to see more of the coven in town and all the different witches in it. If you want a funny, lighthearted story with oblivious witches, this book is for you!

Overall rating: 4.5 stars

Dalia Merriweather has grown up with an eccentric family that firmly believes they are witches despite never showing any magical powers. They are convinced Dalia is a blue witch that will help return magic to them. Little does Dalia know that they do actually live in a magical world and their family was hexed and their powers were removed. The handsome new neighbor Max was sent by the magical authorities to keep an eye out on this family. They are drawn together when she accidentally breaks the hex.

I had such a good time with this with this cozy witchy romcom. It is laugh out loud funny. Delia and Max have great chemistry. I loved her family and friends. I'm hoping that this will be a series because I would love to have more stories set in this world. The magic system was really interesting.

Hot Hex Boyfriend is a cozy witchy romance book. The story is about Delia Merriweather and her family, who are witches who were hexed a long time ago. Only Delia, who is a blue witch, has the power to break the hex. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The relationship between Delia and Max was incredibly sweet, and all the characters were highly entertaining. The eccentricities of Grandma and the aunties added a lot of humor to the story. Also, Nikki definitely stole the show. I mean who doesn't love a sarcastic imp who can shapeshift into a black cat. Overall, I highly recommend this book especially perfect for the fall season. I also hope there will be another book about Luc and Amy. Fingers crossed! Thanks to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and Netgalley for the arc. I'll post my review closer to the publication date.

Thanks to Forever for the early copy of this book!

This is exactly what I look for in a witchy rom com. I was laughing out loud, cheering for Delia & Max, and falling in love with the town and side characters. The magic system was simple, but also well thought out and explained. This was just so ENJOYABLE, and a light & fun witchy read. This is a total winner!

Thank you Forever (Grand Publishing) and NetGalley for providing me with an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review. 📚

I must preface my review by noting that this novel is a slow burn. 🐌 I had anticipated a more rapid pace, which made it initially challenging for me to engage with the narrative. 🤔 However, I must commend the author for crafting a humorous and uplifting story that ultimately proved to be an enjoyable read, despite the slow pacing. 😊

For those who appreciate slow-burn narratives, I highly recommend this book. 👍

So I've been reading a lot of witchy/paranormal romance ARCs lately (just how the cookie has crumbled, yknow?) and....Hot Hex Boyfriend is certainly unique for its inclusion of magical politics. Unfortunately however, I did not find much of the rest of HHB to be as enjoyable as some of the other romances I've read. For me, after Delia discovers her powers, the book is decidedly less interesting or fun; the "mystery" of how she broke the hex was painfully obvious and Delia's lack of growth on-page as a witch was disappointing. I also didn't really find most of the characters to be compelling: I found Delia's family to be tedious and for me, Max wasn't really a compelling partner for Delia. Honestly, I wanted Amy and Delia to just have adventures together. I will definitely read Amy's book (if Bloom writes one for her) because I absolutely thought Amy was the best character in the book.

All that being said, this is a highly personal view and review. I suspect many will find Bloom's magical Texas town charming and the incorporation of Texan life a unique spin on the paranormal/witch romance.

This was one of the coziest contemporary witchy romances I have ever read and I absolutely adored it. I've also read A LOT of witchy contemporary romances. I found the magic system very interesting and the characters were fully engaging and as layered as a flaky biscuit. There was also a little bit of spice and I will never complain about some tasty spice! It's very cute, funny, magical, and surprisingly believeable given the subject matter. Overall, this was a superb first entry into a series (yes, I strongly feel this needs to be a series), and I highly recommend it for any of you witchy folk looking for a magical little cozy of found family, hot fellas, amazing women, love, and magic. Thanks to Netgalley, Avon and Harper Voyager, and Carly Bloom for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for this review. I am so excited for more Willow Root!

This is definitely for fans of Practical Magical and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Full of eccentric characters and quirks, this is a breezy read for fall. I enjoyed reading this book even though the Texas setting isn't my usual preference for magical settings. I will say that it's unique and definitely has a specific audience appeal in that regard. My biggest critique is that the quirky aspects are overly done in a way that leaves the characters and dialogue feeling juvenile at times. If it had been toned down a bit, I would have given it a 4 star rating.
