Practical Magic vibes meets Sabrina the Teenage Witch, black cat included. This book was hilarious and cozy and kept me fully entertained. Even the side characters will keep you going… honestly, I think one of my favorite running parts was Luc learning all things from food to dancing. However, the story between Max and Delia was heartwarming. Open door, and plenty of spice! A perfect palate cleanser 🥰

This would be a good book for the spooky season, but it just wasn't for me. Wasn't keeping my attention. But I'm also a mood reader, so I will reattempt to read this book around the spooky season. Because just from what I read and listened to, it would be a good book.

If you’re a fan of *Practical Magic*, small towns, or secret societies, no bewitching is required to fall in love with this upcoming release by Carly Bloom! 🧙‍♀️

A big thanks to Forever Romance for the early copy in exchange for an honest review.

Read if you 🩷:
• ✨ Magical Realism
• 🔥 Slow Burn Romances
• 💜 Plus Size Heroine
• 🍹 Cocktails in Hot Tubs!

Cordelia Merriweather never believed in magic—until she accidentally breaks a hex and restores her family’s powers. Now, she’s grappling with her new witchy reality and the suspiciously handsome Max next door, who’s either helping her or trying to keep her from causing magical mayhem. As their chemistry heats up, Max wonders if he’s falling for Delia or if she’s cast a spell on his heart. 💖

This book is a fun and cozy treat! Carly Bloom’s writing brought Delia’s heart and bright demeanor to life, while excellently portraying the stoic and rational Max. The 3rd Person Dual POV had me rooting for this forbidden romance the whole time while also showcasing the opposite sides of their magical realm. It’s an extremely slow burn, so just be willing to wait for those fireworks.

I also loved hearing about the quirky Merriweathers and their shenanigans. It was such a hoot to watch them discover what was happening under their noses in Willow Root the whole time! However, my favorite moments were between the trio of Nikki, Max, and Luc. Together, they could give the Three Stooges a run for their money! 🐈‍⬛

If you’re like me and love witchy romances, be sure to pick up *Hot Hex Boyfriend* when it’s out on September 3rd! 🧡

As Delia Merriweather’s thirtieth birthday approaches, the women in her family keep pressuring her to help break a longstanding curse on their bloodline. As it turns out, though, Delia doesn’t believe she’s a witch.

Next door to the Merriweathers, Max Halifax is packing up his recently deceased uncle’s home (and keeping an eye on the Merriweather women). He’s been tasked by the powers that be to make sure Delia does not break the curse.

This book is such a cozy choice for witchy season.

Highlights for me:
- Nikki, Hartwells’s former (and now Max’s) familiar, an imp who can switch from his cat form to human form
- The funeral food restaurant (Prepare to be hungry.)
- Luc’s fascination with the non-magical world and its customs
- Some Southernisms—I’m looking at you, miscellaneous tea and the one-upmanship and competitiveness of hosting duties
- The growing feelings between Delia and Max

I received an advance copy of the book from Forever. All review opinions are my own.

I’m a sucker for books with a witchy/magical theme. Maybe it’s because my mom named me after one of the most popular teenage witches in pop culture, but I digress.

This book was an absolute delight, packed with humor and genuinely lovable characters. It was wholesome in the best way possible, and I finished each chapter with a smile on my face. The author did an amazing job pacing the story, nothing felt rushed and I was fully engaged during the entire book. So, if you’re searching for a whimsical romance with an enthralling plot for Fall or Halloween, this is it.

Thank you NetGalley, Carly Bloom, and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for granting me access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

Read this book if you love:
•Halloweentown
•Twitches
•Practical Magic
•Sabrina the Teenage Witch
•Romance with a dash of spice
•Found family
•Magical lore
•Line dancing

This was a cute witchy time. Delia’s eccentric family believes they are hexed witches. Delia doesn’t believe a word of it. Max next door is secretly watching them to make sure their powers don’t come back. Cute setup. I loved Delia’s family, they’re very charming. Delia and Max were fun. All the characters were charming. Not a lot of witchcraft, but it was an enchanting story anyway. Good for a Fall read.

This is a super cute witchy romance about a family of witches who believed that they were hex everyone but Delia who just thinks her family is crazy. Enter in Max new to town he is packing up and cleaning his uncles house and Delia’s new neighbor. But Max is really there to keep an eye on Delia and her family because his family were the ones to hex them a long time ago and the hex can’t be broken or can it?!

Super cute I really love the world building and the different witches in this world. Delia’s family is funny and honestly I wish they were part of mine. And I wish I had a familiar like Nikki. There were parts where it was just a little slow and boring but Overall the story is perfect for Halloween and the fall of your looking to read a cozy paranormal witchy romance this fall definitely check out this book.

I would definitely read a prequel book about the Merriweather witches.

Thank you NetGalley for this arc.

Delia Merriweather’s childhood fantasy of being a witch turns into a magical mess after she accidentally unhexes her family’s dormant powers. Now, her life as an interior designer is upended, and she's caught between mastering her newfound abilities and grappling with her magnetic yet mysterious new neighbor, Max. As Max helps Delia—and grapples with his own feelings—this charming story mixes humor, romance, and a dash of enchantment. With its witty dialogue and delightful magical mishaps, it’s a spellbinding read for those who enjoy their fantasy with a side of heart.

Do you need a cute witchy book for spooky season? Do you love an FMC who identifies as a swiftie? I loved every second of this. We’ve got a quirky family who everyone in the town thinks is crazy, an MMC whose sole purpose is to spy on them to make sure they don’t break their hex his ancestors placed on them, magic, dual POV and romance. Oh and maybe a green pepper level of spice, but spice nonetheless.

Definitely add this to your October tbr this year or better yet grab it when it releases on September 3rd.

A fun read for the spooky/witchy season. I loved the characters and the storyline so much. And it also had a great sense of humor.

Practical Magic meets Sabrina the Teenage Witch but if the Owens were hexed and didn’t have magic. The prefect cozy fall rom-com!

What I loved…
- the magic system! I wasn’t expecting such a well fleshed out and interesting magic system from a cozy paranormal romcom! I was pleasantly surprised!
- Absolutely fantastic setting and fictional small town Texas setting. I’m dying for a chance to eat at the Mourning Glory Cafe and dance at the Ice House. And begging Ms. Bloom to write more in this world asap!
- family-forward, both blood and found. I absolutely adored the found family aspects of this novel! The town’s coven and people were top notch. The Merrinweathers were perfectly quirky and the family dynamic of the Halifaxs A++++
- I love a nerdy MMC - bonus points when they’re stoic and the FMC is what helps them loosen up!
- THE ENDING WAS PERFECTION. Honestly this was a solid 4⭐️ book for the majority of the novel, but then that climax hit and it was so good! The emotional impact was 5⭐️, Making this book an easy 4.5⭐️ read.
- no 3rd act break up (This is always a win for me and something I like to note!)
- Did I mention the cast of side characters are absolutely incredible? Nikki is my favorite!
- laugh out loud funny
- cozy and a little campy
- proximity - a little grumpy/sunshine - opposites attract

What I didn’t love…
- The second chapter felt a little choppy and was a major departure from the hilarious first chapter. - Don’t let it scare you off though everything falls into a good rhythm after!

Spice: This was on page but vaguely described. Maybe 1/2 🌶️?

This was a super cozy witch romance that i feel like a lot of people could enjoy in the fall if they like a lot of plot that happens with the characters. Do i feel as though it took a long time for the plot to actually happen? yes but did i also enjoy this book? also yes.

Carly did a great job with Delia and the other Merriweather women but also the character growth that happened within Max and his family. I loved seeing Max's dad call him son for the first time and it really showed how magical the Merriweathers truly are to make changes to the other witches. The only negatives i have is probably the way it felt like forever to get to the point of the book and then everything felt rushed after but i overall enjoyed this book in 2 sittings.

Thank you NetGalley and Forever Pub for this eARC in exchange for my honest review ♡

2.5 stars rounded up.

Full disclosure: cozy fantasy isn’t really my thing. I prefer a story with more stakes. However, I was excited for this book to get me in the mood for
Fall, which it certainly did. The book started off strong but as it went on the silliness got to be a little much for me.

Thanks to Netgalley and Forever for the ARC!

This was SO FUN to read! My first Carly Bloom book, and once I started it, I absolutely flew through it.

A perfect fall-time read, Hot Hex Boyfriend was equal parts entertaining, with all the rom-com cuteness, and engaging, from getting meet all the quirky town characters. You've got your eccentric aunts, your hot, mysterious neighbor man, the sassy bestie who's always got something zippy to say.

The pacing of the book picked up at the perfect moment for me, and I liked getting the story's perspective from both MMC and FMC points of view - bonus points that they had equally funny, silly, cheesy little bits come through in their thoughts.

A nice starter-type of story for someone wanting fun, paranormal and witchy vibes, but without extensive and overly complicated world and magic building. Bloom certainly makes the magic happen here with her style of writing.

Big shoutout to NetGalley allowing me to read this witchy little number! Get excited for September to see this out in the world.

Did you also watch Practical Magic a thousand times? Yes? Do you appreciate a touch of Southern Charm? Great! This book is absolutely for you. The story is magical and sweet and a bit spicy and I want there to be more stories in this world because everyone is so much fun to hang out with. Also the cafe that serves funeral food is genius and I wish it was real!

This book was so cute and amazing I loved it. The story line all the way through is very easy to follow. If you like witchy books you will definetly like this book. This book reminds me of go hex yourself which is also a super cute book as well.

This was the perfect fall witchy rom com. Delia comes from a family of women who have driven her crazy her whole life telling everyone who would listen they were witches. However no one believed them since they couldn’t perform any magic, only because they were hexed they said. Everything changes when Max comes to town, the nephew of Delia’s recently deceased neighbor. Max has been sent to the small Texas town to keep an eye on Delia to make sure she doesn’t break the hex and give her family of witches their power back. And as you’d expect, all kinds of delightful witchy things happen while all of that is going on. I loved the side characters, the setting, and the imaginative plot of this story. I found myself pulled into this descriptive world, and needing to finish it once I started the book. A wonderful fall read, that has me sorry this book wasn’t the start to a new series. I received an ARC, and this is my honest review.
