This one was absolutely lovely! The vibes were immaculate immediately and I wanted coffee and scones and a warm blanket to read. I love all of the family on Delia’s side, the romance was sweet, and I always love a good familiar. Such a good one!

Thank you NetGalley for the advanced reader copy of Hot Hex Boyfriend by Carly Bloom.

This book has witches, spells, potions and the fall season.

Delia was born as a Blue Witch and has to break a hex that was put on her family by her 30th birthday. Max and Luc arrive next door after their uncle passes away. They are there to make sure the hex is not broken.

Delia and Max have an attraction but are “different” witches who should not fall in love.
Does Delia break the hex and can they fall in love???

Definitely read to find out.

It’s not secret that I love a good paranormal witchy romance, and this one ticked all the boxes. With October/fall/spooky season right around the corner, this book is a fun, lighthearted witchy romcom that is sure to satisfy your mood reading!

Easy reading, good pacing, quirky aunties/family, clumsy romance, generational hexes, neighborly proximity…

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for this eARC in exchange for my honest review!

Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for providing this book, with my honest review below.

Hot Hex Boyfriend was a delightful witchy romance. Delia is the witch in question here and she was a light and entertaining character (I also loved her body positivity, which was not made a focal point of the book but gave her character an underlying self confidence I feel is still rare to see in books). Delia’s family is also great, as they are convinced they are witches despite showing no talent in bewitching anything, but rather than coming off as delusional as a result this becomes a quirk that makes them even more fun. Finally, Max, who is aware he is a witch and living next door to stop Delia from realizing she truly is one, was a standout male main character, serious but with a lot of heart and no chips on his shoulder that could make for an awkward read.

Brought together these characters (and more) hide things from each other, fall in love, and save the witch world. What’s not to love when the story has a great premise and is written so well?

For fans of Halloweentown and Gilmore Girls!

This was such a cute & fun time. Felt like a classic 2000s romcom but with witches. I really enjoyed the quirky small town and the characters. I also found this to be really funny. I thought the hex was interesting and the plot engaging.

The romance was sweet and sexy. I liked Delia and Max's chemistry. They had great banter and tension.

A delightful experience.

What a fun holiday read! I truly enjoyed this one, it was a delightful story about a family of witches that is cursed. Add in forced proximity and quirky families and you have a perfect Halloween blend.

It was like an adult Sabrina the teenage witch but without magic because her entire family was hexed. I enjoyed reading, there was romance, humor and lots of magical moments.

Hot Hex Boyfriend by Carly Bloom is a third person dual-POV contemporary fantasy romance set in small town Texas. Delia comes from a long line of women claiming to be witches with the catch that they can’t do magic. Long used to this, Delia no longer puts any stock in their claims and is trying to start her new career as an interior designer by offering to spruce up the house next door before it’s sold. Max is looking for more than to sell his uncle’s house; he needs to make sure the hex on Delia’s family stays in place after Delia’s thirtieth birthday.

The magic system has heart, mind, body, and soul witches and a tiered society. Max is a Logos witch, a logic or mind witch, and so is the rest of his family. They live away from the human realm in a society that doesn’t value romantic relationships to the point that Max’s parents keep separate houses and essentially raise the kids apart. As a result, Max is a bit awkward when it comes to romance, but, for the most part, is fairly encouraging of Delia’s goals when he starts to get to know her.

The enemies-to-lovers set-up is a lot less knife-to-throat and a lot more ‘there’s this secret between us and the longer it goes on, the harder it is to say anything.’ Calling it enemies-to-lovers doesn’t feel quite right and neither does rivals-to-lovers, but given that Max is tasked with keeping Delia’s family magic-free, it does loosely fit in the box. If a reader is looking for a more cozy version of the trope, I think this could be a fairly good fit.

Delia and Max’s relationship really flourishes as Delia’s confidence does. Max isn’t turned-off by her more juvenile humor or how her family doesn’t have a lot of boundaries or how much Delia can eat. Delia, for her part, is attracted to Max physically (especially when we see him in a sweater), but she’s also into him for the genuine ways that he does encourage her and the positive relationship he has with his brother and ‘cousin’ (actually a familiar).

I would recommend this to fans of fantasy romance that are contemporary and more romance genre, readers looking for a cozier iteration of enemies-to-lovers, and those looking for a romance with thirty-something year olds.

"Hot Hex Boyfriend" is a cute paranormal romance with very cozy vibes. There is good chemistry between Delia and Max, and I love Delia's wacky but loving familial relationships. The pacing of the book felt off, though. The set-up took more than half the book, and resulted in the ending feeling a but rushed. The build-up could have been less or the ending filled out more.

3 stars. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a complimentary copy of this book. These opinions are my own,

MF
Southern charm
Magical town
Witches (lots of them)
Dual POV

Rating: 4/5 - this is a book that I will probably reread
🌶️: 1/5 - there is one explicit intimate scene
🎃: 5/5 - the spooky season vibes were perfect (magic, fall, Halloween, pumpkin hummus)

TLDR: Fun, easy, and light with perfect spooky season vibes

This book was so much fun. Really lighthearted with lots of magic. There was a quirky family, sassy best friends, and meddlesome sidekicks. What more can you ask for? This book was just adorable the whole way through. It was not a book that took any thinking whatsoever. It was straight forward and enjoyable like popcorn. And I will absolutely gobble up any more stories that the author chooses to set in this world. As lighthearted and fun as this book was I will warn you that it did make me cry at one point which I could not have predicted. Ultimately I would recommend this to anyone looking for a rom com that will get them in the mood for spooky season.

So cute! An adorable witchy romcom ✨️🖤 Sometimes I'm not a fan of the main character being ignorant, but this is one of the times it works. Imagine chasing dream after dream and having them all fail. What if it wasn't your fault? And what if the handsome man next door could change all that? Now, I'm also not usually a fan of the girl-meets-boy-and-her-whole-life-changes trope but watching Max fall for Delia made it worth it. If you're looking for a witchy romcom to add to your TBR, try this one!

So cute, will definitely recommend to followers!

Magick, romance, and humor all in one? A cozy romance? Sign me up. This super cute and funny read got me excited for autumn and Halloween decorating.

The not-so-good -
*I initially found it took a little while to get into,
*a little predictable

The good-
*chemistry,
*magic,
*character growth,
*aunts and great aunts galore,
*full of excellent side characters,
*the humor,
*the writing

Fingers crossed that this is a series starter.

This was my first time reading the author, and I will definitely read more.

A delightful fall witchy read. A little cheesy at times, but overall I loved this!

It's third person, dual POV.

Delia Merriweather comes from a long line of powerful witches, according to her very magic-less grandma and aunts. They just happen to be hexed.

She thinks it’s just an odd belief they hold, as does the town. They believe that she is a Blue Witch that has the power to break the hex. So every blue moon they make a soup, er, potion in hopes their magic will return.

Max is a powerful hex breaker. He also happens to be the descendant of the man who hexed Delia’s family. He’s in town to keep an eye on the Merriweather women and make sure Delia doesn’t break the spell before her 30th birthday.

The side characters are amazing. The Merriweather women are hilarious, Nikki the familiar being both a human and a cat is *chefs kiss*, and Luc the brother is so clearly going to fall for Amy in the future.

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for my advanced digital copy!

This book definitely put me in the mood to break out Halloween decor and put on Practical Magic! This was such a cute and cozy read with all the fall vibes you could want. Parts of the book did drag a little but then picked up again so the pacing wasn't quite consistent but still a good read.

This is the PERFECT Fall/Halloween book! It’s like Practical Magic and a Hallmark movie had a baby. This was a fun, easy read. The characters were hilarious and belie it or not, relatable. Definitely add this to your fall tbr!

Thank you NetGalley and the author for providing a copy of this book for my honest review!

What a perfect blend of cozy, magical and steamy does this book bring. I would love this becoming an extended universe and would eat up any prequels telling me all about the world this book is set in.

Both MCs are adorable and relatable. It’s an easy read that can feel slightly rushed at times, but I think the author did a great job pacing themselves overall and told me enough through the book to leave me wanting more. It is also refreshing to see a witchy female MC that is the total opposite of dark & brooding, she’s sugar, spice and everything nice - bubbly and delightfully southern y’all. Although she’s described curvy, that’s not her entire personality and the book doesn’t revolve around it, she’s sexy and adorable and it has nothing to do with her size.

When it comes to the more intimate parts of it, I believe the author struck the perfect balance of it both making something stirr inside of me, but also brought me to giggles and blushing out of how cute their interactions were.

You should pick this if you’re wanting to cozy up with a cute, funny and slightly spicy read for the fall, this will be the perfect book to start.

What a creative funny read! Delta's family puts the E in eccentric. There were so many times I had to laugh. I mean who says "slapped the salami with me?" And the "zingus butticus" literally mad me snort. What a clever story and so very enjoyable.

This was such a cute book! The magical realism was so fun to read about. The book remained cozy despite there being some big obstacles for our main characters to overcome. The grumpy x sunshine dynamic was absolutely delightful, especially when paired with outsider to a small town trope. Watching Max find a home in this tiny town in Texas was just as heartwarming as the actual romance plot. Max, Delia, Ian and Nikki stole my heart and I was very invested in them finding happiness. Max especially really wormed his way into my heart. It was adorable watching someone who had been raised to value logic above all else grapple with having *gasp* a crush. His journey was really sweet to watch and I hope that this turns out to be a series because I want happiness for the side characters too. Nikki had my whole heart so I really hope if there is a book 2, he's the main character. If you're looking for a cozy, witchy romcom to curl up with this is definitely the book for you!
