This is the best book! What sweet memories it stirred up of my Southern grandmothers and childhood while I laughed so hard at all the stories that could have been my life! This book is about cake, love, Jesus, kindness, football, and family. It explains perfectly all the things we do and say in the South, and will have you laughing until you cry! I will be quoting Ellen, gifting this book, and rereading “Hey Jesus, It’s Me” over and over because I have hollered “Hey Jesus, it’s me again” a lot in the last few years of menopause, empty nest, and loss of my parents. The instagram comedy skits, that were the prelude to this book, made my hard days better and the author, Ellen Skrmetti seem like an old friend. I love this book so much!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I'm new to Ellen Skrmetti but will definitely be checking out her videos and social media going forward. She told tales of growing up in the South. I recently asked a southern woman for a recipe and she said her aunt forbade her from giving it out. Now I understand better what's behind all that. She told many relatable stories about being a woman, raising children, going through menopause and more. I could relate to so much while all the stories about the South were eye opening to me....like learning there are two reasons someone can be put on "cups and ice" for family gatherings. It made me want to go live in the South for a summer or two...if only to try someone's caramel cake.

Each section of the book starts out with a conversation between Ellen and Jesus. She talks to him about everything and that's what this book is about....reminding us that we can and should go to the Lord with all the things in our lives. He wants to hear about everything, the big and the small. That's always a good reminder and I was thankful for it.

Thank you to Worthy Publishing for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. I'd recommend it. All opinions are my own.

Fun and funny, this is a great book for anyone who loves reading about life in the South. Ellen Skrmetti grew up in Mississippi. She was "raised right," and she's here to share all of her colorful stories about family, marriage, cooking, & church. I did not know who Ellen was before picking up this book but I enjoyed this light and easy read and thought her explanation of all things southern was spot on. I am also thankful she included a few recipes too- I was about to be madder than a wet hen if they were left out. Thank you for the ARC!!

This is such a quick and fun read. I had never seen Ellen Skrmetti's Instagram content before reading this book. As soon as I finished, I started to follow her. I think the way she talks to Jesus and about Jesus is amazing. It manages to be funny and poignant also.

Hilarious. Just what I needed.
Thanks to author, publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book. While I got the book for free it had no bearing on the rating I gave it.

Hey, Jesus, It's Me was billed as a fun, comedic book because well, the author is a comedian. Problem is, there is very little humor in this book. It's more of a regular old memoir, which wasn't what I signed up for.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC for an honest review.

Thank you #Netgalley for the copy!

So many funny stories from Ellen! She talks about growing up in the south and how she wants to be close to family but not too close for a quick pop in. Quick and easy read like your chatting with a girlfriend over a cup of coffee. Though there are religious undertones, hence the title, the stories outweigh it. Don't let it steer you away from this read!

For those of you who enjoy Ellen Skrmetti's Instagram shorts, this book will be a little different. It's far more memoir than comedic commentary. It's sweet and Southern. If you are religious and from the South, I believe you will really enjoy it. Very short - could easily be read in one sitting.

Congrats to Ellen Skrmetti on the publication of her new book Hey, Jesus, It's Me! This is a fun book that will make you laugh, cry, and laugh some more...and maybe call your sisters or girlfriends and share some of the quips from the book! Her southern opinions on mamas, menopause, and menus reads like you're chatting with a girlfriend on the porch with a glass of wine!

Grab yourself a good bottle of wine, a comfy spot and cozy blanket. This book is like talking to a good friend and if you don't live in the south will make you wish you did. Born in raised in the south this book made me laugh, cry, and smile appreciating our uniqueness in how things are done and our love for Jesus. May the world get just a small glimpse of what makes me proud to call Mississippi home.

Ellen is a Jen Lancaster with a sprinkling of Jesus. This book is good for a laugh and a healthy reminder that no matter the reason, it’s always good to keep the line of communication open with Jesus.

I enjoyed the author’s fresh – and southern – perspective on conversing with Jesus. While her sketches offer comedic relief, it also reminds women that they can find themselves conversing with Jesus throughout their everyday lives. He meets us where we are and is there to listen to us no matter the reason. I found myself laughing out loud at parts and enjoyed the doses of southern wisdom. This was a fun, relatable read.

Thank you to Ellen Skrmetti, Worthy Publishing and NetGalley for an advance e-copy for an honest review.
