I’ve been an early reader of TJ since the very first book although this time around it was much more difficult to get my hands on an early copy due to the change in publisher and her immense growth in popularity.

You can always count on TJ for high-octane, heart-pounding, anxiety-inducing suspense plots featuring airplanes and our worst nightmares. I love that she draws her inspiration and knowledge from a career as a flight attendant. I found it fascinating from her author’s note that she specifically dreamt up this plot after a conversation with a pilot about their worst flight related fears, hence the title “Worst Case Scenario.”

In TJ’s third book, a commercial pilot suffers from a widow maker heart attack 35,000 feet in the air with a full flight, unfortunately causing the plane to crash to pieces around the small rural town of Waketa, Minnesota. Parts of the plane strike the town’s partially decommissioned nuclear power plant, threatening a potential nuclear disaster the rest of the world can only watch with held breaths to see what the small town’s plant workers and emergency responders do to work together and try to solve this terrifying life-threatening situation.

I did enjoy this book and it was entertaining, but I personally had to take it in bite-sizes pieces. I felt it was more graphic, heart-wrenching, and had more of a pervasive hopeless feeling throughout than her past books where I felt had more hope to hang on to despite the circumstances. I did like the ending.

The action starts immediately and doesn't relent. I loved it! And I cried actual tears, which very rarely happens to me when reading a book. T.J. Newman doesn't disappoint .

In her latest book, TJ Newman delivers an intense, fast-paced experience from start to finish - which is a VERY common theme if you've read her earlier works. This one is a little different and was written to be more than just a disaster story, it explores themes of community, family, and the difficult choices people must make for the greater good. The plot is packed with high stakes and relentless action, making it a book you’ll want to devour in one sitting, maybe just not before your next flight!

While the pacing and tension are amazing, the large cast of characters can be overwhelming, and their backstories are somewhat lacking, making it hard to connect with them fully. This book doesn't take my top pick compared to her older reads, but it’s a highly engaging read that showcases Newman's talent for creating gripping scenarios. This was published earlier this month, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves disaster reads.

Worst Case Scenario kept me up all night. It is a blazingly fast read. The plot is simple. Airplane crashes into a nuclear power plant in Minnesota. The residents of the small town in which the plant is located band together to save the town...and the country and the world from extinction. There are heroes and selfless sacrifice. It is a great read. Just don't read it in the plane you are riding in after you have bought the book in the airport book store!!!

T.J. Newman, you've done it again. What an exciting, fast paced thriller that feels both far-fetched and totally believable. This book felt like a love letter to small towns and pulled on my heartstrings.

T.J. Newman is the master of plane thrillers, but this time the book focuses on what happens when a plane crashes into a nuclear power plant. There's a race to save mankind as the threat of nuclear waste may harm the entire country's water supply. Can this small town band together to save everyone?

This book was a tearjerker. I felt all the feels for this small town as they worked together to contain this situation. There were so many stories that I enjoyed following, although at times it felt like 1-2 too many. This is a fast paced read that you won't want to put down. Another hit for me and I'll continue to read whatever Newman comes up with next.

T.J. Newman is back with another heart-pounding story. If you are familiar with her other work (Falling and Drowning), you will understand the level of action to expect in this book. (It’s high!)

One thing I love about Newman’s books is her ability to paint such a clear picture in your mind. Her books all play out like movies in my mind. This book was no exception. Worst Case Scenario was engrossing. I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen in each of the multiple story lines. I really liked all the characters. Newman also got me a time or two with some twists that I wasn’t expecting, which made the book even more exciting.

I shed some tears and celebrated with the characters along the way. Don’t skip this one (or any of her others!) I would definitely expect this story to have a film adaption eventually, just like the others. I can’t wait to see the movies! T.J. Newman is an automatic read author for me, 100%.

TJ Newman’s latest plane crash disaster novel takes place over the course of one day when a jet flown by a pilot who has a massive heart attack at the controls crashes into a nuclear power plant. The race is on to keep a disaster on the scale of Chernobyl from happening in the US. Unlike Falling and Drowning, most of the action takes place outside the plane as the town, including the staff of the nuclear reactor, first responders and ordinary citizens try and beat the clock.

While Worst Case Scenario didn’t grab me in the same way as its predecessors, it was still a solid, fast-paced thriller that left me with lots of questions about the pros and cons of nuclear power. Four stars.

I have enjoyed T.J. Newman's previous books, and this one is very readable and action-packed. The premise of a large jet airplane crashing into a nuclear power plant is a very scary scenario, so I was interested to see how the author handled the story. My husband worked many years in the nuclear power industry, and I was impressed at the level of detail Ms. Newman included in the novel. The characters were interesting and the various storylines all worked well as a whole. A good vacation read.

This is one of the most gripping stories I have read in recent memory, it really kept me flipping pages to find out what happened. A pilot on a commercial airplane has a widow maker heart attack at 35, 000 feet, the first officer is in the washroom when this happens and because the pilot slumped over the controls the airplane is in a steep dive and soon crashes, some of it hitting a nuclear power plant. The plant is an aging facility that has been in the process of permanently shutting down, staff is limited and some of the plant is non operational. The story unfolds from multiple view points, from the people in the plant, White House staff including the President who try to help as much as they can, rescue personnel who are dealing with parts of the plane that have landed in other areas, including on a bridge where the wing has hit a minivan containing four people, the parents and 2 children, the wife and daughter die on impact, the van is half off the bridge dangling over a rushing river, the wing is on fire and the fire crew that happened upon this accident while trying to get to the plant are trying to put the fire out and think how to save the 2 souls (this scene in particular was very intense). At the plant they quickly realize that the reactor will soon go into meltdown and the plant will blow if certain things aren't done to stop it, that where the countdown clock at the beginning of each chapter appears to tell you they are rapidly running out of time. Overall a very good book, one I would very much recommend. Thanks to #Netgalley and #Little Brown for the ARC.

I just don't understand how she does it. I have now read every one of TJ Newman's books and I just don't understand how they keep getting better. With Falling, we got a heart-pounding book filled with action and a flight attendant having to fight to save her passengers and her family. In Drowning, we got an even MORE heart-pounding novel filled with SO much action about a plane descending into the depths of the ocean packed with SO much emotion focusing on a dad trying to save his child under water and a mother trying to save her family on land.

And now THIS! What the heck! I was excited to see that although this novel does involve a plane - the plane is just the catalyst for everything else that happens. We only spend a chapter physically on the plane and then it's about everyone on land hurrying and fighting and coming together to save - well basically their town and kind of all of humanity! And she did it again - but might I say even better? Drowning has definitely been - in my opinion - her best novel but now this one gives it a run for its money.

How does TJ Newman create a story like this one where my pulse is just pounding the entire time, I cannot turn the pages fast enough, and I am also wiping away tears that are streaming down my face. This novel really showed - in a even bigger way then in Drowning - how a family, a community, and a nation come together in ways big and small to collectively solve a problem and save lives. She brilliantly bounced us back and forth between a group of firefighters trying to save one child on a bridge, a grandfather with a bunker and a radio providing information to the community, members of the community at a church providing medical help and food, the people at the nuclear plant navigating what is happening in real time, and even taking us to the White House where big and fast decisions were being made.

She beautifully used children in this novel to really tug at the heartstrings, but not in an emotionally manipulative way. I was so incredibly invested in a female firefighter and her fight to save a now parentless child and the relationship between a father and son that so deeply moved me, that I had to close the book at one point to wipe tears so I could read the words on the page clearly. This is a BIG 5 stars for me and truly made say out loud "She did it again!" Bravo TJ Newman!

If TJ Newman writes a book, you better believe I will read it! This book was her third book and it was outstanding. The amount of research she does is clear. Newman starts her book off running with a plane that is soaring to the ground. And once it crashes, we don’t stop the fast paced countdown to potential mass devastation.

Nothing makes me happier than a T.J. Newman book and this book was no exception. From the beginning to the end, my heart was pounding. This book has everything a good action thriller needs: heroes to root for, action packed scenes, and even some tears. This book is the perfect summer read but be ready to ignore your life as you race to the end.

Where do I even begin. Well first, this book definitely lived up to its title because a worst case scenario somehow continuously got worse 😂 This book had me on the edge of my seat with my heart racing for the entire story and in literal tears by the end. I ended up enjoying this book a lot more than I thought I would when I first started it. The majority of this book focuses on the aftermath and consequences of the crash. Going in I didn’t know many specifics of a power plant so I did feel a little overwhelmed by that information at first, but I also learned some! By the end of the book, I was so emotionally invested in the characters and their stories, which led to all the feels. I feel like this will be a book I think about often.

-I guess my only complaint would be that after the first chapter detailing the crash, I felt like the story proceeded to get off to a slow-ish start? It took me a minute to settle into the story, but I think it was because I was learning about power plants since I went into it knowing very little.

4.5 stars! Another heart pounding thriller from TJ Newman! Set in a rural Minnesota town, a commercial airliner goes down. Not only is this a tragedy for those who were on the airplane, but the crash happens to hit parts of a nuclear power plant. Plant employees and regular civilians are thrust into every single “worst case scenario” they can think of. With multiple different characters, each handling their own missions, this story had me on the edge of my seat! I did get a little bogged down in the specifics of the power plant and nuclear energy but still found a great read! Thank you NetGalley for the eARC. All opinions are my own.

TJ Newman's Worst Case Scenario was my first introduction to this author but it won't be the last. I'm extremely afraid of flying so I skipped her previous two titles but now I'm desperate to get my hands on copies of them.

Worst Case Scenario imagines what happens when a pilot has a heart attack midair and crashes into a nuclear reactor. Full of fast-paced plotting, Worst Case Scenario switches perspectives and gives you lots of POVs. I couldn't put it down.

Additionally, I was granted access to the audio version and the narration is ON POINT. I will look to see if there are other Joe Morton books out there because this production was so good and his voice and pacing told the story so well. I was on tenterhooks.

This book was such a fun ride!

This is the third book I've read of TJ Newman's and each book was better than the first. She has such a way of writing that it is like watching one of the best action movies. It was almost impossible to put down. Every chapter was better than the one before it.

I love the way she writes scenes but doesn't' go into a million details for you to be able to picture it perfectly.

This is an action/thriller book that still manages to be heart-felt and even bring me to tears at parts. I really had no knowledge of nuclear plants before this book but I felt like I learned stuff even as the book went along.

I am such a fan of TJ Newman and her books.

T.J. Newman is on a roll. Worst Case Scenario has a plot that is both intriguing and fast-paced. This is a thriller but on a different level and unlike anything that I have read before. Newman has the ability to draw you in from the very beginning, giving you permission to engage and become involved with the characters. There are those that you find yourself rooting for and others not so much. What an emotional roller coaster ride! T.J. Newman is one of my favorite authors, and I was so excited for this book. Now that I have finished it, I am anxiously awaiting what is next. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.

A thrill ride like no other. Worst Case Scenario will appeal to the adrenaline seeker, the science nerd, the weeper and the up all night reader. As always,, Author Newman did not disappoint. However, a few less characters would ease the brain overload.

Wow this book was phenomenal! I think it was even better than her first two. It cut right to my core and had such incredible character development while still being a full-blown thriller. An absolute 5 star read!!

Wow. This book will have your heart racing and you will be anxious the whole time. It is truly a wild ride but also full of depth and complexity. Definitely finished this one with tears streaming down my face.
