After loving Newman’s previous book, I was thrilled to be approved for Worst Case Scenario in both audio and digital. This is another action packed page turner. I found I didn’t connect with the characters quite like I did in Drowning. But I think most readers will devour Worst Case Scenario!

Thank you, NetGalley and Little, Brown & Company for this advanced audiobook. And thank you, T. J. Newman for thinking up yet another reason for me to be terrified of flying. I read this in one sitting as it was a riveting storying and I wanted to see how it ended. Newman definitely does not disappoint in the story and suspense department. This author is on my auto-read list forever.

I’d like to thank NetGalley for this ARC copy of Worst Case Scenario by T.J. Newman.
This thriller was the most exciting and suspenseful book I’ve read in years. It had me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole novel. Worst Case Scenario has so many different points of view that keep the momentum going. There’s a lot of characters in this book and yet you really feel like you get to know them all, their personalities and relatability really make them seem tangible. In a book full of technical terms about things from nuclear power intricacies, to scuba gear you’re given everything you need to know in layman’s terms written in natural way that doesn’t feel like needless exposition.
In this fast-paced thriller we see the worst-case scenario for a small town, America as a whole, and possibly the world. Starting from the cockpit of a Boeing 757 to the small town of Waketa, located 55 miles northwest of Minneapolis, we see a tragic and horrific scenario played out from various points of view. What happens if the worst happens to your pilot? The plane? What happens if the plane crashes in the worst possible place causing the maximum amount of damage? What if the plane hits a Nuclear plant? It feels like you’re speeding along as the story moves, throwing you from scene to scene keeping up the momentum and pace consistently the whole way through.
You witness this scenario play out through the eyes of a variety of people, from the flight crew, to the fire fighters working the scene, to the President who has to keep the nation calm in the midst of turmoil, to even a small child whose life is suddenly upended by this cataclysmic event. Each scene moves the characters and events through a timeline that counts down to the ultimate outcome. As you’re moved through these points of views you get to know each character and story that helps build the overall scenario of what could happen given the worst-case scenario.
I can’t say enough about this book. It’s engaging, suspenseful, emotional and exciting all at once. Not only all of that but it’s well written too, not once did I find myself forcing my way through to get to the end because everything flows naturally. If you like suspense, thrillers, and human resilience in the face of adversity then this is the book for you.

Strap yourself in for this high octane thriller. From page one you are thrust into the high stakes action.
We join T J Newman for another fast paced aviation centred hit. A plane has crashed into a nuclear power plant. Each chapter is a countdown to zero hour, this builds anticipation as we don’t know what will happen when zero hour is reached.
This kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. I really enjoyed all the different stories linked to the main incident. We got to know an interesting and complex cast of characters including those in the village next to the nuclear power plant, those trying to stop a wider catastrophe and those in the actual plant.
I read this and enjoyed it so much I also listened to the audio. The narrator fit the story perfectly and really encompassed the urgency and the high stakes of the story.
If you loved T J Newmans first two then you’ll love this just as much.

Thank you NetGalley!
I enjoyed this book. The story was heart stopping and fast paced. Every book I read from T.J. Newman is so stressful in a good way. I overall enjoyed the story but the middle seemed to lose me. I know the book needs to explain about the science part of nuclear power plants but it caused the book to slow down a bit. But over all I enjoyed it except the weird part of the character having a rant about kids. It felt so out of pace from the rest of the book.

TJ Newman is an automatic must-read for me, and this book delivered the tension and pacing she's so well-known for. I found myself missing more of the airline component from her other 2 books, and wasn't totally prepared to learn that much about nuclear power. At times, it felt like everything truly WAS the worst possible scenario, making it all a bit too far-fetched. That said, I LOVED the Dani/Connor storyline and without spoilers will say that this book had me in tears more than once. Overall a solid 4 stars.

If you’ve ever read any of T.J. Newmans works, you’ll know generally what to expect with her genre, but she takes it up another notch with Worst Case Scenario. I read the entire book in a day while traveling for work - maybe not the best choice to read a plane crash book while on loads of flights, but it was so engaging I couldn’t stop reading.
As with her other works, Newman seems like she has done extensive research to make the plots plausible (in a science/engineering sense) even if they are improbable. It reminds me of watching a season of 24, where each situation makes me think “well, I guess that really could work that way in isolation, but how much more can you possibly put these people through!”
This particular book is premised on the Worst Case Scenario for pilot/airlines/the world - a plane crashing into a nuclear power plant and the chaos that ensues. The small community around the plant jumps into action to stop impending doom and lives out actions of sacrifice, courage, and selflessness.
There is a very good amount and mix of characters in the book. You feel as though you connect with each on some level and truly feel for them as they encounter various conflicts, but there are not too many as to be confusing.
If you like either of Newman’s first works, or general suspense/thriller books, I highly recommend picking up a copy when it comes out Aug 13!
Special thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for the ARC.

My goodness. This book kind of terrified me. In a good way. TJ Newman drops you immediately into the action with this one and it does not stop until the very end. Thank goodness it's on the shorter end because I need to be a responsible adult and live my life but I just could not until I finished this one to see how it was all resolved. In classic Newman fashion, the story starts on a plane but it soon moves to a small town in the Midwest. There are life-and-death scenarios that grasp you and make your heart race. This time, the results of the action could have global consequences.
The pace of this book does a stellar job of capturing the stress and tension the characters are under. Several storylines overlap, but the reader is never lost or confused as the narration jumps from one to the next. If you are looking for a highly entertaining book that really holds your attention and increases not only your heart rate but also your emotions, this is a great choice. You will be left satisfied with the ending and wondering yourself....what if?

One thing about TJ Newman; she's gonna make you STRESS.
Having now read all of her published books- you can see how she's progressing incredibly.
In Worst Case Scenario, a plane crashes into the town of Waketa. Destruction is everywhere, but the biggest focus is Clover Hill power plant where the crew is working tirelessly to stop a nuclear meltdown that will devastate all land along the Mississippi River.
This book is so high anxiety, while still giving you room to learn to love the characters. Every single person is so well written as a human. Never once did I stop and think "no reasonable person would do that" which is what I truly believe sets TJ Newman above the rest when it comes to this genre of disaster thriller.
I highly recommend this book, and I hope that TJ Newman keeps writing because I'm certainly going to keep reading.

Thanks Netgalley for an ARC of this novel. I’ve really enjoyed all 3 of this author’s books. This one involves a commercial jet crashing into a nuclear power plant and the aftermath of the crash. There are interesting side stories & rescues, it’s very fast paced and like Newman’s other books it would be a great movie!

Wow - I have read all of Newman’s books and this is probably my favorite to date. It seems impossible that she keeps finding new, terrifying flight scenarios that each are completely different from one another. This one, centered around a small town reeling from a plane crashing into a nuclear plant was un-put-down able and my biggest complaint is that it had me crying on my train ride home from work. Would love to see this as a movie. Great characters and totally gripping. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

Maybe don’t read this book if you plan on flying anytime in the near future, or, you know, ever.
A high-octane read from the very first sentence, T.J. Newman delivers by creating a story filled with terror from the first page, making everyone who reads this ponder the possibility of ‘what if?’ in this perfect storm of all that could possibly go wrong… a pilot suffers a massive heart attack and the plane filled with people crashes into the sleepy town of Waketa, Minnesota… sending debris from the wreckage across a large area, much of it landing at the nuclear power plant causing catastrophic damage.
“Worst Case Scenario” wrecked me causing me to cry off and on the last 25% of the book because Newman makes you care about each of the characters she has created both as individuals and collectively as a whole; begging the question - what is more important: the individual or society?
Available in stores everywhere on August 12, 2024, this is a book you won’t want to miss! Thanks @littlebrown and @netgalley for the advance digital copy.

This thriller has everything!!! It was so captivating and intense throughout the entire book! There were twists and turns until the very end!
I was worried that this book would be repetitive since the authors previous books are all about plane crashes, but I was very wrong! This book focuses more on the aftermath than the actual plane crash.

I have been waiting to read the next TJ Newman since reading Falling and Drowning. This book was more fast-paced than the other two, and at times, it was hard to keep up. Nonetheless, I enjoyed it. Kept me on toes. Connor pulled at my heartstrings.

TJ Newman writes crisis fiction like absolutely no other - I knew when I got approved to read this early that it would be just the book to bring me out of my reading slump, and boy was I right. I was absolutely enthralled from page one, and for the first time in a while stayed up well past my bedtime to finish it in one day. It was THAT good. The one thing I will say, is it was really confusing having two "C" characters - I think it was Claire and Carla? Something like that. Either way, that kept throwing me out of the story periodically, because I couldn't keep straight which was which for the life of me. But seriously, that was the only complaint I had in the whole entire book - it was breath taking and suspenseful from beginning to end.

This is my first book by Newman and I have to say once I got to maybe 15% in, my attention was hooked. I finished it in a few hours. I loved the writing! Loved the story! And I bought her other 2 books.

A dead pilot, a plane crash, mayhem in a small town and a looming nuclear disaster that could end humankind…welcome to Worst Case Scenario! ☢️
3.5 ⭐️ I enjoyed this one! I have to hand it to the author, because her imagery is vivid and unparalleled! This book is full on action right from the start and immediately sucks you in! The authenticity she brings to her books based on her flight experience really adds a a layer of believability as you read. Don’t get me wrong, the plot is beyond outlandish to be sure 😂, but as pieces unfolded I was definitely feeling the “could this actually happen”!?? COULD IT!!??? 😂 My reason for not rating higher is simply because the nuclear angle wasn’t really my favorite and I think I’m ready for something a bit different from the author. She’s proven she can write an engaging story, but this one definitely felt like it followed the exact formula her first two books did.
My thanks to NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for a complimentary advance copy of this eBook, out 8/13/2024.

Thank you T.J. Newman and NetGalley for the ARC of “Worst Case Scenario”. At this point if T.J. Newman writes a book I’m 100% reading it. I read “Falling” and “Drowning” in one day each so when I saw that T.J. Newman was publishing a new book I jumped at the opportunity to read it before it was released.
The only reason I rated it 4 instead of 5 stars is because there were a few parts that were slow but the other 80% is so fast paced I could not put it down.

Not my favorite of T.J.'s books. This one kind of slogged along a bit for me. I wasn't attached to the characters as much due to the jumping around from so many points of view. I wanted to care more about certain deaths and accidents but it just didn't emotionally draw me in

TJ Newman knows how to write thrillers. I enjoyed the level of scary that accompanied this one. I think anyone that lives near a reactor would say this would be their absolute nightmare. Newman is great at starting the book off intensely and keeps on running.
I would have liked to see an update in RJ. He was cantankerous and felt the world owed him. It would have been nice to see him again towards the end of the book. But this was a fun, tense thriller from start to finish.
