Another fantastic and terrifying thrill ride from TJ Newman. A pilot has a widowmaker heart attack and dies while the copilot is in the bathroom. The plane crashes--into a nuclear power plant in a small town in Minnesota. Newman takes you on a horrifying journey of what happens next and the gravity of the situation. As in her other books, she takes us through the situation with multiple POVs: the people in danger (which in this book is literally the entire world), the people trying to fix it, and the people in government who sometimes impede the process. Newman makes you care about all the main characters in the book, and there are a lot. She also is able to make them different enough that I never thought "wait, who is this again?" and she made me care for them. I thought one storyline was a little ridiculous but it came full circle and I appreciate the point she was trying to make. I enjoyed the layman nuclear science--it's something I find utterly fascinating but have no understanding of it at all.

Overall, a great book. Many thanks to Netgalley and Little, Brown, and Company for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Worst Case Scenario was pulse pounding from the very start. I started the book immediately after downloading and didn't put it down until I finished. An airline captain has a heart attack while momentarily alone in the cockpit. No one else can get into the cockpit before the plane crashes into an aging nuclear power plant in rural Minnesota. Thus begins the race to prevent a nuclear accident capable of destroying much of the world. We learn a lot about nuclear science. While I didn't understand the science, the explanations conveyed the difficulties and realities of dealing with the disaster. The characters were well presented and relatable. I give the book 5 stars and highly recommend it. Thanks to NetGalley and Little Brown for a copy of the book in return for an honest and unbiased review.

T.J. Newman does it again!! Worst Case Scenario is her third book and it doesn't disappoint. It is like a rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. I read it in 2 days.
The book starts with a bang when there is a medical crises onboard a jet airliner. The plane is hurdling toward Earth, destined to crash into a Nuclear plant. There are numerous characters who scramble to solve one life threatening problem after another. I was rooting for all of them. Ms. Newman does a great job of writing so that her readers care about her characters. The tension increases as the book goes along so you are on the edge of your seat!
I have loved every book T.J. Newman has written. I can't wait for the movie versions to come out!
Many thanks to the author and Little Brown and company for providing the ebook ARC.

Everytime I read a TJ Newman book, I don’t think it can get anymore gripping and jaw dropping than the last book that I read, but she proves me wrong everytime. Her newest book releasing 8/13 is no exception. Worst Case Scenerio is action packed from the very first sentence. The premise is a pilot has a fatal heartattack mid flight causing the plane to nose dive full speed into a nuclear power plant. The rest of the story is about how to save the town because it’s estimated that the plant will meltdown in 16 hours. What I love about Newmans writing is that each character whether they are a main character or a character that only appears in one paragraph-she gives them a voice, a perspective, and an important role inherent to the storyline. There were multiple times I physically gasped while reading the story. You think things can’t get any worse in the plot, then Newman throws a curveball that ratchets up the action and suspense. This book is graphic, informative, thrilling, gripping, jaw dropping, and puts you in the edge of your seat the entire time. Pick it up when it releases next month. Thank you Little Brown and Co and NetGalley for allowing me to read this fabulous book in advance.

What a tearjerker. I love TJ's books. While they one seemed the most dangerous to me, it still had all the elements of anxiety, fear, relationships, and sacrifice. It makes me never want to get on a plane again! An airplane crashes into a nuclear plant and the town is off trying to save people. Who will make the ultimate sacrifice? Bring the kleenex! It reminds me a lot of the movie, Armageddon.

I've been a fan of TJ Newman but this one did not land with me. I've enjoyed her airline stories and I'm glad this one didn't have a happy ending for the plane or a completely happy. ending in general. But this was much too science based. Normally her multiple POVs make sense and I like them but a lot of these were very reoccurring or limited to a single opportunity POV. It jumped around too much and got confusing at times. I wanted to love this but with all the science and POVs I was lost.

I've read and loved Newman's other books and was excited to see Worst Case Scenario available on NetGalley. I knew WCS would be an adrenaline ride but I wasn't prepared for what was to come.

In Worst Case Scenario, we are immediately thrown into chaos as the plane's pilot has a heart attack when no one can reach him. The plan ends up crashing into a nuclear power plant. There are multiple POV from various characters who are struggling with what is occurring all over town at this time.

I enjoy the fast pace action of Newman's books. This one was a little too much at points with the Nuclear Power Plant and radiation... had I realized all of that, I may not have picked it up at the time. But, overall it was still a good read. I can definitely picture it as a movie.

I just couldn't connect with any of the characters. Perhaps that's because the disaster really starts on page 1, so I had no bond with them before they were pushed to their limits. Perhaps it's because the characters all seemed ridiculously self-sacrificing. Or maybe I was distracted by all the necessary but distracting explanations of the disasters they faced and all the possible ways they could fix these problems.

The pacing was also weird for me. It was one crazy catastrophe after another, so much so that I didn't really feel a sense of suspense. I didn't really care how one danger was resolved because I just knew another would follow.

Finally, there were so many cheesy, eye-rolling moments and snippets of dialogue.

I guess overall it just seemed a flattened, sanitized Hollywood disaster movie.

T.J. Newman is back with another heart pounding thrill ride!

What would happen if an airplane full of fuel and people crashed into a nuclear plant? You are about to find out.

This is a story of that event and a bigger story of the ordinary people who came together to save their town.

The tension never lets up and I was exhausted when I finished the book. It is another work of genius from Newman.

Thanks to Little, Brown & Company, and NetGalley for providing me with a digital advanced reader copy (ARC) of "Worst Case Scenario" by T.J. Newman, scheduled for release on August 13, 2024. I've read Ms. Newman's previous novels, "Falling" and "Drowning," and was thrilled to receive notification from NetGalley to read an advanced copy of "Worst Case Scenario." I couldn't believe my luck! Ms. Newman's story captivated me with its non-stop action and her exceptional talent for storytelling.

At the beginning of "Worst Case Scenario, the pilot has a heart attack, dies, and all heck breaks loose. Instead of the plane crashing into the ocean, it heads towards a nuclear power plant. The narrative is suspenseful, and there are various sub-plots. The characters are well-developed, and Ms. Newman did a great job providing their backstory. Thanks to this, I found the characters relatable and was not surprised at the choices and decisions made by several main characters. "Worst Case Scenario" is about family, death, destruction, loss, redemption, love of family, sacrifice, and the effort to save humanity.

The book includes many predictable events and tear-jerking moments, but overall, "Worst Case Scenario" is a great, engaging, and immersive read. I think Ms. Newman is a talented storyteller who can suck the reader in and never let go. "Worst Case Scenario" is gripping and intense, and Ms. Newman's novels get better and better.  You can't go wrong reading a book by T. J. Newman, and I encourage you to read this pulse-pounding novel.

AMAZING! She can do no wrong, I will read anything she writes. High stakes, and very emotional. She gets better & better with every book.

The number of times I put this book down to catch my breath.... whew...Worst Case Scenario is similar to Newman's other works in that it will increase your heart rate, tug at your heartstrings, and cause you to sit and read for so long that your sit-bones ache. The writing is fantastic. The story is engaging, exciting, and heart wrenching. The characters are likeable, relatable, and will have you in tears throughout but especially at the end. Read it, and, if you haven't read her other two, read those, too. I just really hope that Carla apologized to RJ.

"Worst Case Scenario" by T.J. Newman is an electrifying thriller that kept me hooked from start to finish. The novel kicks off with a chilling premise: a commercial airliner crashes into a nuclear power plant, triggering an unprecedented Level 8 disaster. Newman's storytelling is masterful, as she deftly weaves together the lives of ordinary people thrust into extraordinary circumstances. Each page is packed with tension and suspense, making it nearly impossible to put down. The characters' courage and resourcefulness are inspiring, and the stakes couldn't be higher. This book is a rollercoaster of emotions and a testament to the human spirit in the face of unimaginable odds.

I panicked. I cried. I became invested in characters like nobody's business. The book started with a tragedy on the very first page, and only gained momentum. If you loved Newman's previous works, "Falling" and "Drowning," you'll be enthralled by "Worst Case Scenario." A must-read.

Thank you TJ Newman, Little, Brown and Company, and Netgalley for the advanced copy!

Thank you Little Brown for the #gifted galley and e-arc to read and review.

Wow. Holy expletives. TJ Newman’s ability to write a heart-racing story is unmatched.

Worst Case Scenario is a story that will stay with me forever. It is jaw-dropping, fast-paced action that is unputdownable.

Expect —> thriller, global crisis, sacrifice, fast-paced, wonderful characters, tears

A commercial plane crashes into a nuclear power plant and the ramifications are catastrophic.

Never have I ever cried while reading a thriller. Until today. The way I care for these characters is astounding. Whether the character had one sentence or half the book, each one was significant and played a part in this epic ride. Newman hooked me immediately and refused to let me go.

This book was fantastic. Be prepared for your heart to race the entire time you read.

After reading TJ Newman’s first two books, I was so excited to read this one. I was not disappointed! This book was a fast read for me, mostly because I could not put it down. So many emotions came from reading this book, fear, anticipation, anxiety, sadness, and tears. This book was a reminder there are good people in the world, community is important, and family and friends are everything. I highly recommend this book!

I loved TJ Newmans first two books but this one fell a little flat for me. The nuclear power plant plot was a lot to wrap my mind around and I found it harder to follow the story. The stakes were just as high as the other books if not higher though!

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author for the ARC of Worst Case Scenario.

Are these books literary greats? No. But are they super entertaining? Yes, definitely. This was another example of a heart pounding thriller by TJ Newman. It definitely drew me in and made me want to keep reading! I enjoyed Falling, loved Drowning and enjoyed this one as well. It was definitely a different vibe than the first, as it didn’t really have much to do with the actual plane crash after the first few chapters. At some points it did get a little too “science-y” for me, and I didn’t completely understand all the Nuclear power plant jargon, but the cliffhangers and intensity still was strong!

If you enjoyed Newman’s first two books, or are just looking for a unique thriller I would recommend this one for sure.
