The author takes the reader through the history of St. Patrick's Day and it's symbols. It also gives us a look at how the holiday is celebrated across the world. Great if you want to teach a child about the holiday.
This has been a fun series. I love finding out the traditions from other countries and other religions. I really have enjoyed the series. I received a copy through Netgalley. A review was not required.
This book is such a great book explaining what St. Patrick's Day is. It goes into the history of who St. Patrick was, what Ireland is, and the people who live there. As an adult I actually learned a lot about St. Patrick's Day that I never knew before. I would definitely put this at a 7+ age. It wouldn't hold the attention of a younger child. It has cute drawings throughout that go along with the text, but it is definitely more text heavy than pictures. I also appreciated the Christian History, I don't like when authors take out the Christian foundations and this book did not disappoint. If your child is interested in learning all about St. Patrick's Day and Ireland I would highly recommend this book.
This book would be a great resource for teachers/educators to use in the classroom on St. Patrick's Day. I love how at the end of the book the author shares some activities and recipes to do on St. Patrick's Day. I am excited to use some of these ideas with my kids this coming holiday.
Thank you Callisto Piblishing for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
An early guide to why St Patrick's Day is a thing, and what happens where with the world's major parades. You also get a lot of activities and crafting ideas at the end, so that when the leprechauns run out there is always more text to guide you towards a colourful celebration. It does seem slighter than other titles in this series, especially Christmas and Hannukah, but that's probably to be expected. I'd not hesitate to recommend this, especially if you've had a couple of stouts of a certain brand and need to explain to a passing youngster why you're suddenly wearing green.
And no, that's not a situation that I've ever found myself in.
It's just not my colour.
I absolutely adore this book! This book wasn't overwhelming, but it was packed with genuinely interesting facts and information about St. Patrick's Day. I learned a few new things about one of my favorite holidays, which is awesome! Since this was my experience, I believe that many other readers will have the same experience. Additionally, this book was written and organized really well, which helped all of the information make sense and really sink in. Even further, the illustrations were colorful and accurately represented the energy and happiness that surrounds St. Patrick's Day. This was easily my favorite aspect of the book because of those reasons! I have absolutely nothing bad to say about this book.
Bravo!
