Truly stunning and thought-provoking, Alienated is a YA novel whose extraterrestrial concepts take readers on an out-of-this-world journey :)

I’m not sure exactly what it was about this science-fiction title, but I just couldn’t get into it. I did purchase a copy for my library and several kids who like books like across the universe have been giving it a go.

"High school senior Cara Sweeney gets more than she bargained for when she agrees to participate in earth's first intergalactic high school exchange program". She basically gets a very hot alien from L'eihr by the name of Aelyx. As welcoming as Cara's family is, though, there are a large number of people who don't want the aliens here and will do whatever it takes to drive them away.

I loved Cara and Aelyx! They were like oil and water when they first met, but the more time they spent together, the more they grew on each other. The secondary characters were well developed and the story itself was very engaging.

I enjoyed this book very much and look forward to reading the second book in the series to find out what happens next!

5/5 stars.

I absolutely adore YA Sci-Fi, and you were no exception. I devoured the first book in your series, and anxiously awaited to find out what would happen next in Cara and Aelyx's individual journeys.

Your story picks up right where Alienated drops off, with Cara forced to go to Aelyx's home planet, L'eihr, and Aelyx back to Earth to help solidify alliance negotiations. But their jobs don't turn out to be as easy as they would seem. Cara finds herself with alien clone bullies, a new diet, and extreme classes/physical training on top of trying to gain basic human freedoms as the human representative on a panel preparing for a human colony of L'eihr. Meanwhile, Aelyx is busy being shuttled from one PR event to another trying to help his people's image and gain the Earthen's trust, but someone keeps making attempts on his life. With both Cara and Aelyx struggling to survive on opposite planets, how can they all learn to live together in peace?

I felt terrible for Cara. Trying to adjust to life on a new planet without chocolate? No, thanks. And then Aelyx is nearly getting assassinated at every turn of your pages. To say their lives are effed up during the entirety of you is a vast understatement, Invaded. My heart churned with despair for each of them. As always, Cara's snark had me laughing out loud, but despite that usually being my fave part of a book, I found that my favorite part of you was the new relationships that were formed in your pages. Seeing some more of characters we have yet to and new ones too, was indescribable. It made your story that much more complex and heart-warming. MANY NEW SHIPS AND OTPs ABOUND.

On top of the new ships, I enjoyed Cara's chapters the most, because something cray cray was always happening on L'eihr, whether it be suspicious meteorites or creepy members of The Way. Something was always going down. It captivated me. And the blog posts! I was extremely happy to see that Cara started up a new blog. Maybe I'm biased about the blog posts thing but I WOULD LOVE TO SEE MORE OF THIS IN BOOKS!

All in all, I may have enjoyed you a little more than your first book. I think the only thing I would have loved to see more of inside your pages that was in Alienated was the steamy scenes between Aelyx and Cara. I remember fanning myself during Alienated, but unfortunately since our couple is separated for the majority of you, Invaded, those steamy scenes were few and far between. Maybe your author, Melissa Landers, has a steamy comm call convo up her sleeves? One can hope!! (As I definitely am!) Four stars to you, Invaded.

I unfortunately was not able to read this book. I was excited when ever I had chosen to download or pick this book up on Netgalley. However, time moves by so quickly and I never got to read it.

I did not understand how to use Netgalley previously when I requested this book and subsequently did not read this book on Netgalley. However, I did order this book for my bookstore and recommended to several customers and it was a hit!

I've had this book for a while now and I really don't know why it took me so long to read it. I loved it! Bring on different species! I love how species is another way to talk about race. And that shows really well in this book. The L’eihr exchange student that Cara gets is Aelyx. Aelyx is hiding something from Cara, but she doesn't know what yet. Over the course of the book Cara and Aelyx's relationship becomes more than a girl who is housing a L'eihr. Alienated was addicting!! I couldn't stop reading until I finished the book. Amazing!!!

Thoughts as I read this:

4.36% Wonder what she has against her brother?
20.93% They have some MAJOR differences to overcome...food being a big one for them.
40.99% Just what exactly is Aelyx up to? The author does a good job keeping me wondering what secret he and the other 2 have up their sleeves.
58.72% I cannot believe those searches came up when typing 'how to' And he looks into them, lol!
Wow, that was actually quite steamy for a YA novel their test of each other was interesting.

Enjoyed.
