Absolutely loved this story, especially as it was based in beautiful Devon, my favourite part of the world.

Good characters that you can relate to and a story where you are transported to that place.

Just loved it.

A fun story. Plenty of heat with the summer fun. I wish I had someone with a good British accent read this one to me.

I found this book enjoyable and easy to read. It was a bit like a holiday for my brain. The book was well written and I found moved at a steady pace. I did not really find the story compelling and it was not that I couldn't put it down but it was nice all the same.

I loved the setting and the characters in this book, but, unfortunately, the romance was lacklustre. The story was rushed with too many characters introduced unnecessarily and there wasn't time to fully develop the story.
If it had truly been a fresh start much of the plot that develops with the fiance could have been dealt with in the first chapter as a backstory leaving space for a true fresh start for Vicky and allowed for a much better romance.

While this book could have been better it was still an enjoyable read that I would recommend.

I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Vicky has lots of decisions to make when she inherits her aunts house. A lovely easy read, with a great setting and likeable characters. I will look out for more by Suzanne McCarthy.

Delighted! Delighted! Delighted!

"A Fresh Start at Bramble Cottage," by Susanne McCarthy is a book I am glad I took the time to read.

The inheritance of a cottage changes Vicky's life. I greatly enjoyed witnessing Vicky's personal journey wherein the writer deftly made me feel like I was a part of it. I felt connected- and it made this story relatable, and easy to enjoy.

The book drew me into this fictious world, and I was vested in the characters. The descriptions of Devon were lovely. This read reminded me of a Hallmark movie- and I LOVE Hallmark movies! Oh! And the romance that bloomed between Vicky and Tom was so sweet! A charming book worth reading!

Thank you to Susanne McCarthy, and Choc Lit (Joffe Books), for an advanced copy of this book which was published on April 30, 2024.

5/5

I really enjoyed this book, yes there were some parts which were predictable, but overall it was a really enjoyable read. There were some characters who were really likeable and of course a couple to dislike! I felt like I got swept along with their lives and enjoyed how the book flowed along. Perfect feel good book to immerse yourself into.

City girl Vicky inherits a cottage from her estranged aunt, in a seaside village where she spent time as a child. Her finance wants her to sell it quickly, and she did too until she got there and imagines what life might be like to live there. Some twists and turns happen along the way but HEA guaranteed!

I absolutely adored A Fresh Start At Bramble Cottage by Susanne McCarthy! It was the perfect book to sink into during a sunny summer day.

The story follows Vicky as she unexpectedly inherits her estranged great aunt's charming cottage. Vicky, who has been drifting through life at the direction of her mother, finds herself in a bit of a predicament after a run-in with some cows on the road. But things take an interesting turn when she meets Tom, a neighbor who she constantly clashes with.

Despite their initial misunderstandings, Vicky and Tom eventually find common ground and form a unique bond. Along the way, Vicky uncovers secrets about her aunt and the cottage that help her discover more about herself and take charge of her own destiny.

I had such a blast reading this book - it was light-hearted, engaging, and a delightful escape into a tight-knit community. It was the perfect read for me to unwind and enjoy the journey with these wonderful characters.

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. This was an easygoing and enjoyable read. I enjoyed the storyline and beautiful setting, and McCarthy created a cast of well-written and developed supporting characters alongside Tom and Vicky. Although some of the prose was a bit too long winded, it did not detract from my enjoyment of the book.

A sweet, cozy tale that will make you fall in love with small town life. The story centers on Vicky who inherits a cottage and her journey of self-discovery, which leads her out of unhealthy relationships and into something better. The story is very feel good and relaxing. I loved celebrating Vicky's successes and journey of love. The only reason the story got only three stars from me is there were at least 3-4 spots where it didn't feel like the relationship between her and Tom was real enough or deep enough for what occurred. I wish, as the reader, I would have been able to experience their relationship deepen to those levels rather than just see it happen suddenly. In the end, the story kept me motivated to keep reading and I loved the ending.

"A Fresh Start at Bramble Cottage" kept my attention the whole way through. It was a nice reprieve from every day American life as it takes place in the English countryside. This was truly a sweet yet zest story. There was a good amount of enticing drama coming from all angles which kept me on my toes as to what would happen next without feeling like it was too much. The only thing that felt overly mentioned was the constant noting of an "inheritance tax" needing to be paid. Other than that, I would recommend this book to any of my friends for a lovely little read.

A sweet story . Vicky just inherited a cottage from her great aunt at Devon so when she goes to look at it and see what will need to fix so she will sell it her neighbor Tom is negative towards her . When she discover her fiance is cheating she deside to live at Bramble cottage near the beach and start from the beginning .
I received this book from netgalley and the publicer as an ARC . Thank you . All thoughts and opinions are my own .
