When I saw this book available for review I knew I had to give it a try. I've been crocheting for years, so I know the basic stitches. I loved making these cut little animals! My daughter who is 9 saw these, and now she wants to learn as well! I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a fun cute book that is very detailed and easy to follow along!
If you want to give a try to this part of crocheting, but never crocheted anything before, have no fear, because this book is really gonna help you.
I love how this book is organized, showing the tools and yarns you can use and then explaining every step needed to make an amigurumi, from crocheting the parts, to attaching them together, adding eyes and other details, filled with pro and cons for every method, as well as QR codes for video tutorials.
The book also has some specific designs, but the way it's written, it's easy to combine the techniques and make you own original design.
With easy to follow instructions, clear pictures and a simple, yet effective organization, this book is a 10/10 for me

There are tons of adorable dolls pattern inside that you can follow easily with different skill level so you can choose which one that would suit you best.
At the beginning there's also a tutorial that would introduce you to the materials, crochet techniques and stitches, how to change different color of yarns, sewing, stuffing and many others tips and tricks that would be useful and wish I knew earlier!
These adorable dolls would make a good gift for kids on their birthdays or just for fun!
This is an adorable collection of amigurumi patterns to help you make some miniature crocheted animal friends. Super cute and, more importantly, very clearly detailed instructions, as well as ideas to go off and adapt the patterns to your liking. Very well-written and encouraging, with plenty for the confident crafter to learn too.
Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for access to this e-ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
A terrific guide for new or seasoned crocheters with easy to follow instructions on how to make adorable amigurumi animals. There are 20 designs that can be used to create 100 such creatures, one cuter than the other. Recommended!
This book is a great resource for creating cute amigurumi! Although I did not need the instructional beginning, I think that it is a fantastic resource for anyone wanting to get started. I could easily see someone who is incredibly new to crochet being able to easily follow the instructions and photos; the inclusion of QR codes to take you directly to videos, if photos aren't enough, is that extra feature that definitely bumps up my opinion of this book! I have many, many pattern books and none have been so helpful as this one.
One thing that you get in so many pattern books is just patterns with no other variations suggested or any way to modify said pattern to create something slightly different. Gauthier-Boutin flipped this on its head and included an entire sections showing how to make different body shapes and poses, different basic shapes for other parts, different accessories, and showed how she designs amigurumi. It lets you really play around with different combinations and create your own personalized amigurumi in addition to the pre-designed patterns included.
This is overall a fantastic resource for creating any type of amigurumi, and, as an enthusiastic crafter, I'm thrilled to have a copy!
Thanks so much to NetGalley and Quarry Books for this opportunity!
Full of adorable patterns, clever tricks and tips, and hundreds of detailed photos and explanations, this book is a wonderful resource for anyone looking to get into amigurumi for the first time, or seeking out new adorable possibilities!
This book is so incredibly charming! The images are clear and vibrant, the explanations are wonderful, and I loved the little anecdotes and side notes scattered throughout the book! I have some experience with crochet and amigurimi, but I'm not an expert by any means. However, the pattern was clear and straight forward, and my bunny came out adorably! I also really appreciated the library of tips and tricks that helped make my project even better!
What worked for me:
- This whole book is so cute. Each page is lovely to look at, and there are so many images showing how to do everything.
- For more complicated techniques and instructions, the book includes QR codes to video instructions!!
- The patterns are really great, easy to follow, and the one I tested came out great with no fiddling needed!
What didn't work for me:
- The instructions for the magic ring were SO confusing. I know a different method of making a MR that works for me, and after several failed attempts to follow this method, I gave up and just used my own.
- Flipping back and forth between different sections while working on the pattern got a bit tedious. Having page number references of where the instructions for the next step are located helped, but I still lost my place frequently (especially in the ebook form), and I could see all the back and forth being rough on the spine of the book depending on how it's bound.
Overall, I really like this book, and I would love to try out more of the patterns and make a whole cute collection of animals!
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
This was a great introduction to amigurumi. You probably want a little bit of basic crochet knowledge going into it, to make things easier. I did a Woobles kit before which helped immensely when reading these patterns. One thing I loved was the QR codes to video tutorials, because sometimes it’s difficult to see what you need to do with only a picture of the yarn on a hook. I also loved how the patterns were similar, and then with modifications, it became a different animal. It helped demystify the process. There are a nice variety of animals if you aren’t sure what you like, this will give you lots of ideas.
Thank you so much for the eARC!
This is a book of 20 amigurumi patterns that are a bit customizable and for beginners as well as people who are well versed in amigurumi. The animals are very cute, it gives great instructions if you are a beginner and overall a good book if you're looking for patterns for amigurumi.
Amigurumi Friends by jade Gauthier-Boutin has everything you need to get you started making your own miniature . With so many plushies to choose from you are sure to find something you enjoy from farm animals, woodland, zoo, and even some that are out of this world.
The step-by- step instructions made it clear and easy to follow, from basic stitch techniques, to individual patterns, including step by step pictures all made these projects easy even for those who are just getting started. I loved the customization ideas she included to get you started making your own amigurumi designs,. This book is a must have for those who wish to get into making amigurumi.

Cute creations, but the patterns are really one body with different skins. Not sure I would want to purchase a whole book for that. I did find the tips section to be the most beneficial, though. Definitely learned some new techniques that I am very excited to implement.
This was a really cute book for amigurumi. I like how there are QR codes to lead you to videos. I loved that it gave you the basics so you knew how to create the animal and you could be as creative as you want with it by putting it in a different pose and adding accessories. Very cute and I can’t wait to crochet some for my nieces and nephews.
If you’re thinking of taking up amigurumi, this is a great place to start. I am a total novice and have always been interested in learning this craft but have always been too intimidated to try it. This book really breaks it down into small chunks and doesn’t overwhelm you.
It starts out by listing all the materials and types of materials that are used in the craft of crochet. I liked the table where it showed a chart to match the hooks with yarn types. I also liked the detailed photos and directions on the basics. You’ve got to start with the basics, right?? The book takes us through the process of reading patterns, stuffing, changing colors mid project, and eye placement for the animals. They also have printed QR codes so you can watch videos for us visual learners.
There are patterns for zoo animals such as giraffes and zebras. Then there is a section for woodland creatures like foxes, moose and bears. We also get farm animals such as cows, goats, and donkeys. Lastly, there are patters for mythical creatures like unicorns and dragons.
Darius the dragon and Marty the moose were my two favorite animals from the collection. They even give us some simple patterns for accessories to make your creation even more unique.
This book really inspired me to start making my own creatures. I’m still practicing but getting more confident in my skills with practice.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my truthful review.
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook.
This is absolutely so cute. I cannot wait to make some of these. My niece and nephew have picked out a pattern that they like and I will do an update as I make one. These would be a perfect gift for Christmas or birthdays or even baby showers. You can also use the head and arms to make lovey blankets for kids/babies also.
I would like to thank Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review
First off, the patterns are really clear and the possibilities are indeed endless, if you mix and match the different heads and bodies that is.
In the first chapter there is a clear list of materials needed followed by a step by step explanation of the different stitches you will have to use in these patterns. With these explanations come a lot of pictures to make sure it is easy to follow for beginners like me. If these aren't enough, there are QR codes included that lead you to a small tutorial. A simple, yet really appreciated detail
The patterns itself contain difficulty levels so that everyone can pick the pattern that suits their level of crochet.
Overall a really great instruction book and I can't wait to try some of these myself!
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Amigurumi Friends is an adorable step by step guide on creating your very own little Amigurumi animals.
The book starts off with the basics of equipment you will need and tips and crocheting steps, then goes on to show you how to create each little animal. There are twenty adorable animals to make, and I really want to make them all. This was a great book with detailed instructions and pictures to accompany each step, but as I received a netgalley shelf version, I couldn't zoom in enough to follow each one and make them. I would definitely recommend getting this in physical form, and I really want to get it in paperback ASAP.
A nice guide to Amigurumi animals. It starts with info on supplies and basic techniques, and then has patterns for heads, 5 body types/poses, and then 20 patterns for animals (the ones shown on the cover). The title is a little misleading in my opinion - yes, you can get 100, but that would be by making each of the 20 animals with each of the 5 bodies. The book does not specifically explain how to take these patterns and turn into additional animals - you would need to work on and figure that out on your own.
I really liked all the step by step instructions and color photos. A good book for someone starting out with Amigurumi, just beware it doesn't cover 100 different animals.

These patterns are adorable! I love how it’s such a simple set up that can make soooo many different variations! I’ve made the bunny so far and I’m obsessed with how well it came out! I’m gonna have to make so many more now!
Full review to come.
This book is exactly what I was looking for to start crocheting for my kids. Absolutely perfect!
I would like to thanks Quarto Publishing Group – Quarry | Quarry Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this eARC in exchange for an honest an honest review.
Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. This is full of beautiful patterns. I like how it gives the instructions for the body shape and then it can be tailored for each individual pattern without the book just being filled with the same pattern over and over. I cannot wait to give some of these a go,
