"Let the truth be buried in the bones of silence."
Christina is driving home in a storm and hits something, but she isn't sure what it is. Later, police knock on her door and inform her that her husband, Michael, has been the victim of a hit-and-run...in the same place she hit something in the road. Was she the one that hit her husband?
Michael is in a coma until he's not. They both are keeping secrets. Who is going to figure everything out first?
This book has everything you'd want in a thriller: secrets, scandal, blackmail, family drama. It keeps you guessing until the very end. This had me on the edge of my seat.
TW: Auto accident. Coma. Infidelity. Cancer. Grooming.

I was thrilled to learn from this author via her Facebook group that this book is on NetGalley! I immediately downloaded the book to my kindle and read it in one day. AJ is a great writer and she draws you in immediately. This book kept my interest throughout and what a great topic! I loved the relationship with her twin brother especially and she also developed the other characters well. There were great plot lines and twists you won’t see coming! I certainly guessed it wrong, lol! I would recommend this and all her books. I’m always thrilled when she publishes a new book as I’m certain to love it!
Absolutely loved this book. I was gripped from the first to the last page.
Really enjoyed it. Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to review this absolute gem. 5 stars
Holy cow! This is such a good book!! A really solid and meaty thriller, full of all sorts of gasp out load moments! I absolutely loved it!!
Firstly, thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the book.
Christina is driving in home in horrendous weather conditions, raining is pelting down, she is finding it difficult to see and all she wants to do is get home. On the way Christina feels a thud and wonders if she has hit an animal, she gets out of the car in the bitter conditions and darkness but cannot see anything so returns to her car and drives home.
A few hours after she arrives home two police officers arrive at her door to say her husband has suffered severe injuries in a hit and run. Christina instantly feels sick wondering if it was her who hit her husband and not an animal as she previously thought, she is now consumed by guilt. What she should do is tell the police of her fears, but she is so scared she holds back.
Her husband Michael is placed in a medical coma to release pressure on his brain and once conscious states he does not remember what happened to him. This then leads to a series of events that the police investigate regarding Michael’s movements that night that leave some doubt as to where he was that night.
The book moves at a decent pace with twists, turns and revelations occurring as we piece together what really happened and who is the guilty party. I found this to be a quick read which took my attention for a few hours. At the halfway mark I had some idea of what had happened and who may have been out to make Christina suffer but I was wrong about one of the people involved which did come as a surprise.
Now THIS was a thriller. Holy Shrimp!!!! This is a very fast-paced book packed with lies, deceit, backstabbing, and all those other things that make a thriller great. I kid you not, I was having to use deep breathing techniques when I was reading this because I was so anxious. Christina and Michael are married. She has 2 children from her first marriage, which ended when her husband cheated on her. Michael would never do that. He knows how much that hurt Christina. Also in the book are Christina's twin brother Ted. Her and Ted are close as twins often are. Also her sister, Sophia, and her brother in law live not too far. I can't say anymore about the story at all without spoiling the entire thing. But Michael has secrets. However, so does Christina. My head was jerking back and forth like Linda Blair in the Exorcist over all the twists and turns. This was so well written and paced perfectly.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. I greatly appreciate it. I highly highly highly recommend this book.

Did I Kill My Husband by AJ Campbell
Another page turner from AJ Campbell which I couldn’t help myself and read in 2 sittings! An exceptional plot with lots of twists and turns that will have you captivated until the end. Would definitely recommend. Keep them coming AJ!
I was hooked from the first page! Twist after twist and it never lets up. Clear your calendar because you are not going to put this down! I had this read in just 2 days (I have a kid that needs to be fed lol) All I can say is this book was fantastic, definitely a 5 star!
On her way home from the bar Christina runs over, what she thinks is, a deer in the road. As it turns out, she actually ran over husband. The first half of the book is a little slow for me. Christina spends a lot of time worrying over whether or not her husband will remember what happened and know it was her that ran over him. The second part of the book picks up speed and all sorts of secrets and twists are revealed. Ultimately, I figured out the ending before I got there, but so wasn’t too disappointed. I would say that this books wasn’t my cup of tea. I think a lot of it had to do with it being so heavily “UK”. A lot of the wording and slang was foreign to me and made it hard for me to get into.
This book had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I figured out part of the twist at the end but the part I didn't had my jaw I on the floor. The quick chapters helped make it a fast read which I love.
This wasn't the type of thriller I expected or wanted it to be...
Felt like a lot of the characters feeling was way over done, too strong for what was going on around them.
Everyone was awful, just terrible to each other! Most of the time I was just repelled by how they acted and so damn bored!
“(b)elieve me, when I get my teeth into something, my jaws stayed locked until I get what I’m looking for.”
The detective’s words place both reader and protagonist in a vice grip of suspense. Did I Kill My Husband? is a pressure cooker that twists and turns from start to finish.
After Christina Blake’s first husband cheated on her, she is on marriage number two. And she is finding herself unhappy – again. On a cold, icy evening in the English countryside, she drives out to have dinner with the person she trusts the most, her brother. Over wine and dinner, her brother jokes that they should kill her husband. (Or is her serious?) Christina scolds him for his comment, and soon she goes back out into the elements to return home where her two children (from her first marriage) and – she believes – her husband are waiting for her. The road is treacherous and visibility almost nil. Suddenly, her vehicle is jarred by a tremendous impact. She has hit an animal. Or so she thinks. When she gets home, she receives a call from the police: her husband has been hit by a car and is in critical condition.
So begins this, the latest A.J. Campbell thriller.
Immediately, Christina is wracked with panic and worry about what she believes she has done. Terrified, she tells the local detective (who is making this case his priority) that she was home all evening. And it isn’t just the threat of being exposed for her role in the accident that wears down Christina. She must also deal with the demands of a moody teenage son, a younger daughter who survived cancer and a cadre of concerned family members, friends and neighbors whose incessant inquiries about the state of the investigation and her husband’s recovery drive her to the point of emotional and physical exhaustion.
The author lays out her story out in short, pithy, chapters that are nearly all of equal length. Her use of the present tense narrative heightens the immediacy of every scene, pushing the action onward and to ever higher levels of tension.
The ending is sure to confound even the most discerning of readers. Fans of the author’s other books will love this one, as will any readers who favor suspense and, in particular, domestic thrillers.
