*Did I Kill My Husband?* by AJ Campbell is an intriguing psychological thriller that unravels secrets, betrayal, and the lengths we’ll go to protect ourselves and our loved ones. The novel opens with a heart-pounding scene which sucked me right in, and kept me coming back for more!!
Campbell’s writing kept me guessing, and the suspense was intense. I suspected a few things would happen and then bam! Plot twist! Followed by twist after twist!! Such a well written, thought out storyline! This book kept me engaged until the very end!!
*Did I Kill My Husband?* explores trust, deception, and the consequences of choices. It’s a rollercoaster ride of emotions, and the ending delivers yet again another curveball!

Christina was driving home in treacherous conditions when she believed she hit an animal on the road. Having gotten out to check and nothing to see, continued home, only to be told by police in the early hours of the morning, her husband had been involved in a hit-and-run and they didn't not know the driver. Did Christina kill her husband? This plot takes you through the feelings and turmoil Christina experienced following the awful night and piece by piece, she finds information out that makes her unsure she knew who her husband really was.
I was expecting a lot from this book with the reviews and ratings by other readers, however I don't think it quite lived up to the hype in my eyes. The beginning of the book drew me in well with a great plot but I ended up a little bored in the middle with it being slightly stagnant with a lot of the same feelings being relived for multiple pages with no movement forward in the storyline. The last 25% of the book was worth continuing with faster-paced writing, multiple possible ways for the storyline to go and some red herrings thrown in too to try and put you off the scent. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a resolve at the end with the culprit being revealed.
"The police officer’s voice is steady as he tells me the news. ‘Your husband is in hospital.’" "And more importantly… do the police know where I really was tonight?"
Did I Kill My Husband was a fast paced page turning book from beginning to end. It had so many twist and turns that I did not see coming and the ending was so good. This was my first time reading anything by the author and I look forward to reading more from AJ Campbell. I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend this book to any reader who likes a good crime book. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC read in exchange of my review of Did I Kill My Husband.
This book started off good but very quickly I found myself bored. I wish there had been more action/suspense in the first half of the book. If I wasn’t reviewing the book, I probably wouldn’t have read on. The second half of the book is where it really gets good. There’s a lot of intrigue and more suspense. I was wondering what kind of person Michael really was and what truly happened the night of the accident. I did like the big twist and the ending seemed fitting. I was a little disappointed there wasn’t one more big reveal of who really hit Michael. I feel like it was being set up for one more major twist but then it never happened. If you don’t mind a slow start, this was a good read overall. Thank you to NetGalley for my copy!
I received this ARC from netgalley.
When Christina goes out one night, and the police later show up at her door to tell her that her husband is in the hospital, she has a choice to make. His lies… or hers?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
5 stars! This thriller and fast paced and launches immediately into the action. Every time I thought I had guessed the twist, or who was really behind each different shady action, the story turned in a different direction and I was wrong. You never knew what was coming next. I really enjoyed this one and plan to read the other books by this author! Definitely add this one to your TBR for May 29!
What did I just read? The best physcological thriller that is what! It's a whodunnit with twists at every turn. I had no idea who the culprit was but the person that I did have in mind was innocent. Christina wouldn't kill her husband, or would she? This is a binge worthy read that instantly engaged me with short and fast chapters. I would say just one more and before I knew it I had finished the book. It's so fast paced.
Amazing amazing amazing. @ajcampbellauthor work is always the work of a genuine magician. This story had a powerful start which gripped me immediately and kept momentum throughout and I genuinely thought good guys were bad and they turned out good 😊. Another read thoroughly enjoyed with easy to read short chapters its definitely a “just one more chapter book!” Keep them coming!!
What a thrilling journey of a book this was !! It was a quick read, with fast-paced short chapters each filled with suspense. I loved that there were secrets unraveled throughout the book. I kept guessing and doubting everyone and did not expect the twist in the end!!
I tried to think of something that I didn't like about the book, but there was nothing as such.
It was a brilliant, engaging and binge-worthy thriller! Absolutely recommend it!
Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and AJ campbell for this ARC !!
I couldn’t put this one down and it was a quick, exciting read. The story is about Christina who accidentally runs her husband over and then tries to keep that a secret but finds out along the way, her husband has secrets of his own.
I never figured out which direction the book was going, which was refreshing trying to guess. I was wrong and was surprised by the ending. Good read!
Thank you netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.
Definitely a binge read! From the first page I was pulled right in. If you love a book that’s super engaging with a twists & turns that you never saw coming, then pick this up! Did Christina kill her husband? What secrets is Michael keeping from her? Thanks NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC this was a wild ride!
The title captured my attention and how quickly the story started. Unfortunately it started dragging and a bit repetitive midway. The writing style took a little getting used to especially when most of the chapters ended in form of a question. Once the story picked up again I truly enjoyed the twists and how the story came together. Is blood thicker than water? Scandalous!
Another great read from AJ Campbell. I was drawn in right from the start and my head was spinning from the twists and turns. Couldn't read it fast enough. Sure to be a hit.

Their marriage begins to crumble, especially after a tragic accident involving Christina. As the story unfolds amidst secrets and suspicion, Campbell's fast-paced narrative keeps you guessing until the very end. Every time I thought I had figured it out I was wrong.

In "Did I Kill My Husband?" I found myself drawn into a gripping narrative crafted by A.J. Campbell. From the moment I learned of my husband's hospitalization, the tension became palpable, setting the stage for an emotional rollercoaster of twists and turns.
Campbell's writing style is incredibly immersive, pulling me deeper into the story with every page turn. The complex dynamics between the characters kept me on edge, as I struggled to decipher the truth amidst a web of lies and deception.
One of the most compelling aspects of "Did I Kill My Husband?" was the depth of the characters and the internal conflict I experienced as the protagonist. Loyalty clashed with suspicion, leaving me torn between protecting my family and uncovering the secrets hidden within.
While I wished for more insight into certain characters' perspectives, Campbell's decision to keep certain aspects of the story shrouded in mystery only added to the intrigue and suspense.
Overall, "Did I Kill My Husband?" proved to be a riveting psychological thriller that kept me guessing until the very end. With its fast-paced plot, unexpected twists, and compelling characters, it's a must-read for fans of the genre. I wholeheartedly give it a 5-star rating and extend my heartfelt thanks to A.J. Did I Kill My Husband? was a fast paced domestic thriller that hooked me from the beginning and right through the last page. This is my second read by AJ Campbell and I really enjoy the style they are written in e.g., short chapters, twists and turns, a variety of likeable and unlikeable characters and their secrets. This is a great choice for someone who needs a quick read with lots of twists and makes you question who you think "did it" all the way to the end.
Thank you Net Galley, AJ Campbell and Bookouture for the opportunity to preview this novel prior to its release on May 29, 2024. The opinions expressed are my own.
