The Complete Color Harmony: Deluxe Edition : Expert Color Information for Professional Color Results. This is a book that will be useful to a lot of different people from artists, advertisers, designers, and so many more. It is bursting with colour and excellent pictures and illustrations. The colour wheel and information on how to use, combine, accent, and compliment the different colours is so useful. One of those reference books that you will keep on your shelf and refer back to many times.
An introduction to colour theory. It's a bit simplistic and I wish some of the more nuanced uses of colour had been explored in more detail, but this will undoubtedly be helpful for those new to using colours in many broad applications.
Some of the photos look pretty dated and almost like stock photography, but they do convey the concept.
Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for access to this e-ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
An interesting reference book with high quality images - perfect for any aspiring artist or interior designer.
An indispensable guide to colour use and colour theory. This is an updated deluxe edition of the Colour Harmony guide. I am the social media/ event poster person where I work and find this book indispensable for composing posts and posters for marketing. So many people use Canva or similar sites to design their marketing these days, and using this book it is easy to use colour effectively. I use this book to chose an appropriate colour scheme for my project, then I adapt a Canva template and very easily I can come up with effective advertising quickly.
A very interesting book about colors and how to use and combine them. Some of the information can definitely be considered basic (such as warm and cold colors, light colors, dark colors, etc.), but there is also a lot of advanced knowledge that is very helpful for people who are planning to redecorate or other artistic projects. Personally, I really liked how the author recommends compositions of specific colors to achieve desired effects such as richness or softness. The whole chapter on color psychology is also interesting - I learned a lot from it! A big plus of the publication are the beautiful, high quality photographs. Overall, it's an enjoyable read!
Interesting, but nothing new. I would have really loved if this included modern images, not 2012 stock photos, and more complex colours and combinations
This deluxe 40th anniversary edition is a spectacular guide to color! A must have for designers, artists, etc., who work with color and for those readers who just love learning about hues. I want this in my personal library!
This was a very comprehensive look at how colour works. I found it quite difficult to get to grips with. Not one scheme resembled what I was after. It must be me!
I wonder who this was written for? Maybe professionals would make more of it but it is a useful reference book.
I really enjoyed this deep dive into color theory. Seeing all the color palettes and learning more about why certain combinations work, and why others do not, was so interesting. This is a book I'd definitely consider buying a physical copy of because it'd be fun to have on hand.
Pros: I was interested to read this book about color to know more about what different colors express in what we wear, how we decorate our homes, and in photography. My favorite part of this book was the visualization of how combinations of colors evoke a mood. I think that section would be incredibly helpful when decorating a home or branding a business.
Cons: This is not a con of the book but note about formatting. Although this book was good as a PDF, I think it will be even better in a printed format because of the colors will look.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Rockport Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.
I so wanted the book in ebook form. It was a PFD file, hence I cannot use the book. There are good and bad in Kindle. I needed this book badly. Cheers,I will look for it as it becomes available.
As might be expected from the title, this book is visually STUNNING!! The range of interest in this book will be large and varied, as the use of colour will be relevant to those in advertising, fashion, psychology and art (surely also many more whom I have not thought of).
I was motivated to pick up the book with a view to inspiring me in artistic projects, and I feel I have learned plenty about colour from a number of different applications from this book (for example how to choose colour on the basis of the mood I want to create, to which colours work together and why.
I found the inclusion and explanation of the colour wheel particularly useful and worthy of note.
Overall this is a book with a wide appeal, I would be proud to display this beautiful work on my coffee table!
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

I was so excited to see this read. I colorful fun and I collect color palettes. This is a great resource for hobbyists like me, artists, decorators etc. I'll be saving this to use as a reference for a very long time!
Chose this book because I am redecorating my bedroom and want to take bigger and bolder color risks. This definitely checked that box and will come in handy! Easy to read and understand.
I have always been drawn to the color Orange. So much so that whenever anyone asks what my favorite color is, the answer is always Orange. There is a beauty to colors and this book had me appreciating how colors can complement each other-and in a way it reminded me of what it means to have details, analysis and information in one place-plus the picturesque of Pinterest.
I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in colors, in art, in creating a balance between them be it at home, work or just for the purposes of information. Thanks Netgalley for the eARC.
This was a fun read. I especially liked the descriptions of the basic colors. Really colorful with great pictures.
