Lyla Sage hits it out of the park AGAIN—absolutely loved Gus and Teddy’s story 🫶 I was praying their story would deliver all of my enemies to lovers dreams and it definitely did! The banter, spice, and all around character growth of. both characters was so fun to see. Loved being back at Rebel Blue Ranch 🩵🏇
I LOVE THIS SERIES AND THIS BOOK DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
Done and Dusted is one of my all time fav books, so I was ecstatic to get to read Lost and Lassoed! The continuation of the Blue Rebel Ranch warms my heart. If you ever need a heartfelt romance, this is the book for you! Amazing writing and storyline. 10/10 would recommend to everyone
The best Rebel Blue book yet!! Devoured Gus and Teddy’s story. Adored the expansion of both Hank and Riley in this one.
Thank you sooo much for this arc ! I literally screamed when I got the email I was sooooo excited for Gus and teddy’s story ! I love rebel blue, I love the Ryder family and I love the way this series has made me feel! This was no exception ! I absolutely loved August and Theodora together . I loved Riley and I loved their whole summer story ! Rock( fucking) Jasmine was so freaking cute ! Love love love ❤️ can’t wait for cam and Dusty’s story !
This was so so good! I haven’t read another book in the series so I was a little nervous about starting here but I love a single dad so I had to. Gus and Teddy were so good and I loved all of the relationships in the book, truly can’t wait for the next one!
Rating: 4.5/5
Wow wow, oh man was this good
I’ve previously enjoyed Lyla Sage’s books but this one takes the cake. You’d think this book would JUST be a best-friend’s older brother who’s my arch-nemesis single dad x nanny story but it is not. I was pleasantly surprised by the turn of events and I just missed all of the characters. I love Amos, he’s so cool and loving towards his family. I love the relationship between Teddy and her father, and Gus’ kid is adorable too. The fact of the matter is, he fell first and that’s all I’m going to say!
I can't stop thinking about this book. The dedication said it was for anyone rooting for Gus and Teddy since the beginning of Done and Dusted, and that means this book was for me. As an oldest sibling, I relate a lot to Gus (although I like to think I'm not nearly as grumpy) and I loved the talk Teddy and Emmy had toward the end (girlies support girlies, Emmy/Teddy friendship supremacy forever). I actually read this ARC before I got my hands on Swift and Saddled, and it just made me want to find it even more, even though now I'll have to suffer through more of Gus and Teddy hating each other. I'm fully in my modern day cowboy romance era.
COMFORT SERIES! I love this series and these characters so much! You can tell Lyla loves them too. The love and care she has for them shines through her character development and story telling. Cannot wait for all my friends to read this so we can talk about! And I’m sooo excited for book 4!
Okay you guys. I LIKED Done and Dusted, it wasn’t my obsession but I enjoyed it. I enjoyed Swift and Saddled a little bit more but thought it was missing something. THIS BOOK SLAYED. Teddy and Gus were perfection. The banter, the little every day moments that they have and getting to see their history come to fruition.
Lyla has such an amazing way of including you in the environment. Rebel Blue and its small town sweetness is a character in itself. You feel like you’re going back to your favorite vacation town reading any of these books.
What set this one apart from the first two is just the strength of characters from Teddy and Gus. You feel like you’ve known them forever. The chemistry between the two of them is fantastic. I also loved that the snarky banter didn’t stop through the entire book. Being a sassy spouse myself, I loved that they don’t lose the “giving each other crap” in the book like many characters in romance books too.
If you were hesitant to pick this one up because the first two weren’t 5 stars to you…DO IT. Pick it up. I really loved it so much!! I cannot wait for Cams book next.
Thanks to Lyla and The Dial Press for the ARC...we were so honored to have received one ❤️❤️❤️ all thoughts and reviews are our opinions!
WELL SADDLE ME UP AND BUTTER MY BISCUIT...Lyla Sage is a romance mastermind and these books just keep getting better!! Even when we didn't think it was possible to love Rebel Blue Ranch any more after finishing Swift and Saddled… WELL WE WERE WRONG!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 (yes that's my second 6 star book for the year)
Spice: 🐎🐎🐎/5 (THE MUSTACHE AND THE COUNTER...THAT IS ALL WE HAVE TO SAY)
Honestly, this book made us cry more than any other romance book we've ever read. Liz G related SO much to both Gus and Teddy and felt so safe and cozy reading this book, and just felt so seen and displayed on the pages 😭😭😭
The love that is displayed from Amos and Hank made our tears flow HARD, to then watching that love reflected from Gus to Riley… *immediately buys stock in kleenex*
Teddy’s journey alone was something we think so many people will resonate with as well. There are so many wonderful storylines and journeys in one incredible story. Growth, hurt, love, and friendship all mixed into one beautiful book.
Since the book doesn't come out until November, we won't spoil any tropes/microtropes and won't give away details, but THIS is how you write enemies to lovers x forced proximity. It's flawless. She gave Teddy and Gus full and complete journeys of their own, while also writing a damn near perfect love story. We would be happy to read Lyla's grocery list. That's all.
❤️🔥🤠 SAVE A HORSE RIDE A COWBOY ❤️🔥🤠
Lyla- We get to see you in just a couple of short weeks so be prepared for some squeals! You did a phenomenal job! We love you!
When I tell you that Lyla Sage simply does not miss!?!? ESPECIALLY when coming off of Swift and Saddled which I loved even more so than Done and Dusted I thought surly that it couldn't be topped by Lost and Lassoed??? I am happy to report I was in fact wrong and I ate this book up like Thanksgiving dinner. I am in need for the Ryder family to magically create more brothers / family members just so that this series never ends. I absolutely cannot wait to see what Lyla Sage blesses us with in the future.
PLEASE read the rebel blue ranch series & just embrace the cowboy romance genre like I did (I mostly read epic fantasy). It's truly a treat.
4.5 stars rounded up (:
I didn’t think I could love a couple more than Emmy and Luke then Wes and Ada came along. Then so thought for sure no one was more perfect than them until Gus and Teddy! This book is perfection. I loved being back at the Rebel Blue Ranch and being with the Ryder family again. Gus and Teddy’s story is sweet, spicy, and everything you could want! I love how the enemies to lovers trope. I loved getting a glimpse at their backstory and why they are enemies.
It was really interesting to read the end credits and see how Lyla Sage was worried about doing this story justice. You did it! It’s the best and my favorite….until the next one!
Thank you Dial Press for the ARC!
did i consume this book (in a day might i add) or did this book consume me!!!!
answer: this book consumed me
i was giggling, crying, kicking my feet, blushing and audibly gasping the entire time i was reading this book. i knew gus and teddy would be worth the wait and y'all are in for a treat because nothing is as it seems! lyla has some tricks up her sleeve and it left me GAGGED.
gus and teddy were everything to me and more. tbh if i loved them less, I would be able to talk about it more. they are a you gotta read it for yourself type of couple because my words are not enough for how perfectly matched they are and how incredible their relationship development was to experience. they invented "you're so annoying *aggressively starts making out*" but also "i can't believe you were right in front of me the whole time."
they also have the same self-imposed roles as the caretakers in their family and friends' lives and it was just so wonderful to see them getting taken care of (by each other!!) for a change.
yes ofc geddy is the star of this show, and while i am obsessed with them beyond comprehension, this isn't why this book is so special to me. lyla sage captured the true pain and beauty of female friendships and how much it hurts when your relationship with your best friend changes when they find a partner. i related so much to teddy's struggles with her own identity, her fear of being left behind while everyone moves on with their lives, and the unease with her own place in the lives of the people she loves, especially emmy's. lyla put it best with this line: "i'm happy for her, but sad for me," and when I tell you i burst into tears bc that's exactly how it feels like. temmy (teddy x emmy) are my favorite fictional best friends to ever exist and they truly define the terms soulmates.
god i love this series and these characters so much. it's such a special world that makes me feel so safe. every book transports me to rebel blue and turns this miami girl into the small town cowgirl I know I am in my heart! this is my comfort series and lyla sage is my comfort author. i can always rely on her for a laugh and a good cry.
thank you dial press and netgalley for this eARC, it's out 11/5!!
I know that this review is supposed to be about the book specifically but, I cannot emphasize enough how much Lyla’s writing feels like coming home to me. My heart feels so safe in her hands and it is the absolute best feeling in the world.
She has this way of making Meadowlark feel like a warm hug, somewhere I desperately want to run away to. In an absolute moment of insanity at like 4 am, I could almost hear her reading me this book because her personality is weaved throughout her writing to absolutely perfection and I’m also half in love with her. What does that say about me? Who knows, I just love being home where I feel the most loved, comfortable and safe.
The sentiment remains true about Teddy and Gus. From the moment I read the ARC of Done and Dusted last year, I was in Lyla’s DM’s screaming about the delicious tension between them (but also, mostly about my devotion to Wes Ryder because, duh!)
I could cut the tension with a spork and I ate it up. Teddy and Gus fit so perfectly together and Lyla did such an incredible job rebuilding their relationship with fresh eyes. The way they slowly start seeing each other in a brand new light made my heart squeeze in the absolute best way.
Theodora Anderson is perfection. Her mind, her style, her boldness, her confidence and her feisty personality are absolutely everything I aspire to be.
August Ryder and his mustache are the loml. That’s all I have to say about that man.
I had the time of my life reading this book and being home in Rebel Blue. I’m not ready for it to end but I need Dusty and Cam literally yesterday.
A few of us at work started reading this series because of the kitschy covers and fun titles. (Who says covers don't sell books?) However, we got hooked on the very real characters and invested in what would happen next. Lyla Sage doesn't disappoint in this third installment to the series. You will want to join the family and friends at the Rebel Blue ranch, riding the roller coaster of life with its many ups and downs. Fiery Teddy and closed off Gus have a past that no one knows about, and they are highlighted this time. You can't help but hope for them to figure things out, especially with the sizzle that is between them. I'm certain you'll enjoy getting to know these characters better.
This was a highly anticipated book for me and it did not disappointed. The enemies to lovers trope is alive and well and is a classic for a reason. I loved that the enemy element wasn’t that deep. There is great character development. I really enjoyed it!
I thought I loved Emmy and Brooks.
Then I read Ada and Wes.
THEN I READ THEODORA AND AUGUST.
This book had me captivated from beginning to the end. They grew so much together throughout the book.
Lyla has me crying like a little baby in the scenes between Emmy and Teddy and then Teddy and her dad.
Like who gave you the fucking right Lyla?! 😭😭😭😩
🖐🏼stop hurting my heart please I’m running 🏃 out of tissue
This book was so much more than a romance book. It touched on friendship, taking care of older parents, the struggle with not feeling good enough.
I will read this book again and again. And again.
Thank you so much to NetGalley, Dial, and Lyla for creating such a wonderful book and providing an eARC.
4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Three cheers for my girl Teddy Andersen.
I've been waiting for Teddy's story since we first met her in Done and Dusted, and the wait was worth it. I love so many things about her, but all of Lyla's FMC's are absolutely awesome and relatable.
I loved the changes that we saw in Gus, and the way that Gus and Teddy could take off all of their layers to be themselves with each other.. I love the way that that was explained, because yes. That is true love.
Ultimately, though, my favorite part of the book was in Lyla's note once the epilogue ended. Telling us the story of her and her father, and how that became a part of Teddy and Hank's story, was just beautiful to read about. Thank you for sharing such a personal piece of your heart with us, Lyla.
Thank you to Net Galley and Random House Publishing Group for the ARC copy!
Gus & Teddy were everything I had hoped for and so much more! Lyla does it again with another delicious and unputdownable story in her Rebel Blue Ranch series!
This is the third installment in the series and I continue to be impressed with each book. The tension between Gus & Teddy had been building since the first two books and I was thrilled to finally read how they get their HEA!
- small town/cowboy
- single dad/nanny
- best friend's older brother
- enemies-to-lovers
- grumpy (him)/sunshine (her)
The angst, the banter, the sweet moments, the spice, it was all just perfect! Although Teddy and Gus were quite opposite, I loved that they shared the same fierce loyalty and dedication to those in their inner circles. Gus is an amazing father and it was adorable how quickly Teddy fell for and became protective of his daughter as well. These two are just the perfect match and they may have taken the top spot as my favorite Lyla couple!
I have to give major props to Lyla for writing characters and situations in a mature and relatable way. Two things that stuck out to me in this book specifically are her portrayal of a healthy and friendly co-parenting situation and Teddy's feelings of being lost in her life. It's less common to read single parent romances with positive co-parenting dynamics and Lyla did it beautifully with Gus and his daughter's mother. Teddy is an absolute force who is confident in her own skin yet she struggles to find her path in life as everyone else around her seems to find theirs. I think we can all relate how adult friendships change as we get older and I truly appreciated reading how Teddy navigated those feelings.
This book was an easy 5 stars for me and I cannot recommend this and the entire series more!
Thanks for the ARC! Unfortunately this was a huge miss for me which sucks bc Teddy & Gus’ opposites attract story was the one I was most excited for. The actual writing read really annoying, like you were reading a teenagers diary but ok fine I could ignore that.
The story fell flat at the middle and end- specifically when the relationship started. Gus (our MMC) owed teddy (FMC) a huge apology for how he handled what went down 7 year prior. In his own internal monologues he acknowledged that what he did was shitty but never said it out loud to her…??
Also the reason for why they were enemies was never addressed between them. As a big sister I totally understand not liking one of your siblings friend bc you don’t think they’re a good influence, but after they got together why was there no conversation about this? It was just brushed under the carpet never to be acknowledged. And this isn’t solely on the MMC… why would the FMC not want to know why he hated her so much???
And this last point is just a personal thing but I wish we’d gotten to see more from the family/town when it was revealed that they were together. More family scenes might’ve increased my rating from 3.5 to 3.75.
