“I wondered whether I could taste the sun on her skin."

Theodora (Teddy) Andersen is a bad ass single woman trying to figure out what to do next after losing the job she loves, while August (Gus) Ryder is a grumpy single dad who always puts everyone first but refuses to admit that he actually needs help. when Gus finds himself in need of a nanny, Teddy is the obvious choice. and as much as they despise each other, they both love Gus’s daughter, Riley, enough to know it’s the best decision. besides, it’s just for the summer, so how bad can it really be?
settling into their new normal gives Gus and Teddy time and space to realize they may be longing for something they hadn’t really let themselves go after before. somewhere amongst wildflower chasing, dirty laundry folding, and late night chatting, the ice between August and Theodora begins to thaw. could there be something more for their future, and if so, are they willing to go after what they want?
let me be clear: Lost and Lassoed is absolutely a love story…
…but, it’s so much more. this book is just as much about a romantic relationship as it is about friendship and family. it’s also a love story between dads and daughters. it’s a heartfelt glimpse into single fathers and the weight they carry. it’s an exploration of friendships and how the very best ones endure all things, leading to irreplaceable soulmates.
it’s an all-encompassing, incredibly poignant story that’s almost tangible. for me, it was a full-body experience of emotion. I felt it from the tingles in my chest when my heart was breaking, to the flushes in my cheeks when things heated up, to the laughter in my gut when the cutest little girl in the world shouted expletives with comical precision. Lost and Lassoed is overwhelming in all the best ways.
hats off to Lyla Sage and this beautiful work of art — my favorite of hers so far!

Lyla Sage does it again! This time, she’s exchanged a friends to lovers trope for enemies to lovers and boy HOWDY do I love the banter! Lost and Lassoed weaves a spicy romantic romp with a deep story of the love between dads and daughters. Like always, the cowboy hero is a nontoxic king and I’m 👏here👏for👏it!
Lyla Sage, the woman you are. Every time I read a new Lyla book I think to myself "this is my new favorite by her," and this was no different. First and foremost the entire Ryder family has my whole heart. But there's just always been something about the interactions between Teddy and Gus that drew my attention away from the main couples of the last two books momentarily. And this book did not disappoint. It had everything I wanted from it and more. I laughed, and I cried. I cried especially hard at the dedication in the back of the book. I've loved that every book we've gotten to know more and more about the different characters in town and around the ranch, and I just adore this series, and especially this book, with my whole heart
It’s no secret that free spirited Theodora “Teddy” Anderson and stern and stoic August “Gus” Ryder hate each other in the small town of Meadowlark. But when single dad Gus needs help during the summer, Teddy steps up to help her best friend’s brother. Sparks fly and the witty banter is endless as these two learn to accept help from the other and fall deeply in love in the process.
such a cute and adorable grumpy cowboy romance! the relationship between gus and teddy is adorable! can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out! definitely recommend anything Lyla Sage to anyone loving a mix of cowboy and romance!
Never wished I could give 6 stars more than I do right now. Lyla Sage- you’ve done it again. I could not wait a single second longer without Gus and Teddy’s story. The SECOND I saw them interact in D&D I was HOOKED. They’re hilarious and REAL and absolutely perfect for each other. I’ve never had more fun reading. Thank you Lyla Sage for this new addiction & thank you NetGalley and Random House for the privilege of an early peek at the best romance of the year.
Thank you NetGalley for early access to this book! I’ve recently discovered my love for a good cowboy romance and have devoured all of the Rebel Blue Ranch series. Lost and Lassoed is an amazing continuation of the series, exploring a best friend’s brother/enemies to lovers relationship with Teddy and Gus. Lyla Sage is an exceptional writer and there’s just the right amount of spice. Also seeing more of Riley was a highlight; she’s the cutest kid!!
Ugh, Teddy and Gus are perfect. I’m not always a fan of grumpy meets sunshine, but this may be my fave of the themes. A great mix of funny scenes and quips, spice, and ups and downs. I can’t wait for the next book!
Arc Review: 5 ⭐️
Thank you to the Dial Press and Lyla for my arc of Lost and Lassoed!
I went in knowing I was going to like this book. It’s Lyla Sage. It’s Gus and Teddy. They bicker and banter. There’s no way this wasn’t going to be good.
But my friends. I finished it in less than 24 hours. It wasn’t me trying to rush read it. In fact, I was planning on savoring it! But alas, It was just written in a way that I literally didn’t feel the passage of time. Next thing I know I’m reading the epilogue and like???? WHERE AM I? who am I? I was nothing before Teddy and Gus and suddenly I’m sentient?? I need a man with a mustache to hold me right now.
It was everything I wanted and more. It was emotional baggage and learning to let others lighten your load. It was an ode to female friendship, new perspectives, and most importantly, DILFs.
10/10 no notes. Yee f*cking Haw
Every time I get to read a Rebel Blue Ranch novel, I feel like I'm being welcomed home. Getting to know the soft sides of Theodora "Teddy" Andersen and August "Gus" Ryder felt like a privilege. I have been waiting for these two since they started bickering in Done and Dusted and Lyla Sage delivered their story perfectly. When there's this much build up, sometimes the pressure is too much, but she handled them just right. My favorite part was as each of them started to question their feelings changing from venomous to cordial to more, they would pause internally say "huh that's weird, why do I feel this way?" and keep going. There wasn't any stifling of major feelings and I LOVED THAT. I was also a huge fan of them not losing their direct communication styles when it came to the quiet moments between them. Sometimes when the two strongest personality characters come together, their voices can get lost in the attempts at softness, but they both held true to who they were. Watching them let the other care for them was beautiful and I may have shed a tear or two during a particular scene where Teddy let Gus watch her fall apart, but he never left her side. Lyla Sage has outdone herself with this one. I can't wait for Cam and Dusty's story next.
Just when I think this series cannot get any better, I am once again blown away. Lyla Sage has solidified as an instant buy author for me.
This is my favorite of the series so far 🤩 I love Teddy and I loved seeing that there is so much more to her than what others see of her. Gus and Teddy are so fun together. I thought this would be the last book but appears I was wrong 🥳 can’t wait for the next book.
I absolutely LOVED Done and Dusted, but tolerated Swift and Saddled, and unfortunately this one just felt like it was also going downhill. All of these books have the same MMC and same FMC and it worked wonders the first time, but now I want something new because i know she can write! The MMC always come across as teddy bears that love their family and will do anything for the farm, but then they become controlling and overbearing. the spicy scenes are totally different than the rest of the book, and just don't fit out characters. I just couldn't get over that.
Lyla Sage has done is again with her third installment in the Rebel Blue Ranch series. Although Wes and Ada are still my favorite couple, I really enjoyed my time spent with Gus and Teddy. They have been enemies for years, but an opportunity comes up for these two opposites to spend time together, they realize just how wrong they are about each other. These two characters have been circling around each other in the first two installments, and Lyla Sage really delivers now that it's their turn.
The cover is also phenomenal.
This was my favorite Rebel Blue book/couple yet! I related to the way Teddy cares for and worries about her ill and aging father. Gus is an Acts of Service king! Also loved that she's a sewist. These books make me so happyyyyy
This book was so much fun!! And what a GREAT cover! Loved the characters; there was depth in them that I really enjoyed. Sometimes the single-parent relationship isn't handled very well, but Lyla did a really nice job with that. Bit spicy and lovely! Lyla is a new-to-me author, and I'd like to go back and read the first two books in the series now. I suspect there will be a fourth, and I'm here for that one! Thanks, NetGalley, for an early copy
This book was such an easy and fun read. Teddy is such a lovable and relatable character and it was so fun to finally get to see more into her and Gus' life (and to see more of Riley too).
This is a beautiful enemies to lovers book and the buildup for it in the first two books of the series added so much to the plot as well.
and I love that Teddys fringe jacket is on the cover.
This might just be my favorite of the series and I cannot wait for the next one !!
5/5 as always for Lyla Sage <3
I received an advanced copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book is a fantastic addition to the Rebel Blue series! I’ve never connected so well with a character who splits custody of a child.
The previous books warned this one up slowly, but Sage killed it with this novel! Mental health, non-traditional families as a functional and “normal” is an excellent improvement over writers of more mature age. Teddy and Gus are a soldering burn that pays off well!!!
Lost and Lassoed is the third book in the Rebel Blue series. Teddy Andersen finds herself struggling with changes in her life, including her best friend's engagement and doubts about her future in her beloved small town. Meanwhile, Gus Ryder, overwhelmed by responsibilities on his family's ranch and his daughter, reluctantly accepts Teddy's help, leading to unexpected romantic tensions as they navigate their newfound feelings.
Now that I’m fully invested in the Rebel Blue series, I couldn’t wait to read Teddy and Gus’s story. Spoiler alert: this was a 5-star read and Lyla Sage’s best work yet! Lost and Lassoed pulled at my heartstrings, and the ending was sweet! The story is told from two perspectives: Teddy and Gus. I loved how Lyla made each character deeply complex and showed their growth throughout the story. I was also impressed with how Lyla integrated Riley, Gus’s six-year-old daughter, and wrote her character perfectly for her age. The enemies-to-lovers and slow-burn romance was chef’s kiss! It was great to see Emmy, Brooks, Wes, and Ava continue on here as supporting characters. Now, Wild and Wrangled, the fourth book in the series, can’t come soon enough—I can’t wait for Cam and Dusty’s story! If you love Elsie Silver’s books, I highly recommend picking up this series!
This book is hands down one of my favorites. Lyla’s writing is truly one of a kind. She makes you feel seen with her characters and it feels like real life. Gus and Teddy, I have no words other than I absolutely adore them. The way he opened up more because of her, and him being there for her - NO WORDS.
Hands down a forever favorite I will be shouting from the rooftops come release. Lyla never misses!
