Getting an ARC of this book is easily one of the highlights of this year, I feel so lucky!! My favorite book so far in the series, Lyla absolutely met all of my expectations with this book!! I have been eagerly awaiting Teddy and Gus' story since we first met their characters in Done and Dusted (so yes, the dedication made me tear up). Recently, I feel like I've been hyping up books/characters in my head so much before they release, and I've found myself disappointed with one too many new releases in the past year. BUT NOT WITH THIS ONE!!! Lyla delivered such an angsty, tension-filled, HOT, deep romance with Lost and Lassoed. I loved everything about this book.
Teddy is probably my favorite character from the series. I could relate so much to her anxiety about growing apart and going on different paths from her best friend, feeling left behind while watching everyone around her get married and have kids, and not knowing what she wants her life to look like in the future. I LOVED how Lyla explored Teddy's personality, her insecurities, her emotions, and each of her relationships. While this book is obviously a romance, I loved the way that Lyla explored Teddy's relationship with Gus, Emmy, her dad, and the rest of her found family :) This one is for the girls who love their dads, and so many parts made me cry and really appreciate my dad and my family!!
Gus, what a man!! I love single dads and I love girl dads, and Gus delivered in every way!! I loved the exploration of Gus's insecurities about being a single dad, taking on too much, also feeling left behind, and wanting to be the best possible dad and friend for his daughter. The little glimpses of Gus's relationship with his brother and Brooks, his dad, Cam, and his daughter was so pure. I LOVED the little found family created in this book :)
And now, THE ROMANCE!! This is how you do enemies to lovers!! The tension was exquisite, the backstory and little glimpses into why Teddy and Gus always hated each other had me yearning for more!! Watching Teddy and Gus break down each others walls, show up for each other, and push each other to open up and allow themselves to experience love and life was so special. The nanny x single dad trope was so well done, the tension of everyone being in one house, and the very slow burn was PERFECT!!! I could've read 100 more pages!!
I loved this book so much and I cannot wait for everyone to read this book so we can all fall more deeply in love with Teddy and Gus!! Thank you THANK YOU to The Dial Press for providing me with this advanced reader's copy in exchange for my honest review, I am SO grateful!!
This hands down was my favorite so far of hers. I have been wanting their book since the beginning because I knew it was gonna be good. & let me tell you it was beyond good. It was perfect.
The venerability that both Gus and Teddy had and them being able to COMMUNICATE like adults, ugh, every miscommunication trope needs to read this and take notes.
My favorite things:
- relationship Riley had with Teddy (honestly everyone she’s so cute)
- Teddy & Emmy’s friendship
- the slow burn, done so beautifully
- the growth in each Teddy & Gus individually and together
Gus is THAT man. He is the new standard. This book had me questioning my life choices that’s how perfect it was. I truly cannot wait to have a physical copy in hand and annotate the hell out of it.
Tropes:
- sibling best friend, single dad/nanny, dual POV, forced proximity, dyslexia(small mention)
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC!
Gus + Teddy’s story was everything I hoped it would be and more! I lost count of how many times I was giggling, blushing, and audibly gasping. The banter was absolute perfection and let me just say Gussy had some surprises in his back pocket and I was LIVING for. For this third installment in the Rebel Blue series, we get to dive deeper into these two characters we’ve spent two books falling in love with and it was such a beautiful and fun ride. Both Teddy and Gus have so much more to them then we’ve gotten to see in the first two books in every capacity. From their mutual dislike of one another to deep sense of responsibility to their loved ones, they are both incredibly nuanced and way more alike than they’ve ever given each other credit for. They fit together so perfectly, leaning on the other and understanding each other in such a fundamental way. Getting a front row seat to watch these two fall in love with what’s been in front of them for decades was just the most fun. Within that love, these two caregivers find someone with which to share the heavy load they’ve been shouldering. I’ll never be over Gus working with his dyslexia by practicing his reading of Reilly’s books and Teddy’s dedicated care of her father in the organizing his medical care, meal prep, and maintaining their home.
We also get a deeper dive into the intricacies and seasons of female friendship through Emmy and Teddy, which was incredibly relatable and had me in tears multiple times. I absolutely adored watching three different parent/child relationships in drastically different stages of life get explored. Amos and Gus, Teddy, and Hank, then Gus and Reilly all are front major relationships I loved seeing explored as we watch Teddy and Gus fall in love. Cam and Gus are single parent goals as the strongest co parenting duo I’ve ever seen.
Hats off to you Lyla, for bringing even more depth to Rebel Blue and her caretakers. Lyla’s writing has grown book to book and the beautiful storytelling here was tender, authentic, and absolutely visceral. Each character, location, and relationship is deepened, bringing this Meadowlark, Wyoming and her inhabitants even more to life. Rock fvcking jasmine, I never want to leave this place.
Dial Press and Lyla, thank you so much for the gift of reading this eARC early! I can’t wait to spread the Geddy love now and forever.
What a great read! At the beginning of the series I wasn’t very fond of Gus, but this book has completely transformed my opinion on him. I think that coming back from such a dislikeable place was hard for me, but the author does an amazing job and I ended up loving him and Teddy together. This romance was scorching and I could feel the tension in every single page.
Massive hit from Lyla Sage.
Gus and Teddy are the perfect definition of grumpy and sunshine. Gus has a lot on his plate and it makes sense he is struggling to find balance. I feel like he also helps to model “it is okay to ask for help”, which so many of us struggle with. As the book goes on, I love how Gus and Teddy’s chemistry grows together. They slowly start to see each other as people, and not just the bane of their existence.
I love how Gus supports Cam in her endeavors. His whole family loves her and wants what is best for her, even though Cam and Gus are not together. It shows how important family is to all the Ryders.
As always, I love how we also get to check in on the rest of the gang, and watch how Brooks bar starts to turn over a new leaf. It is neat that they are all so invested in each other's lives. I do also love how even though Gus’s baby mama will also have a book coming out in the future. She may not be one of the Ryder siblings, but she is just an important part of the family.
Will add to my blog, Chapterswithchan.com and Instagram in October 2024.
I, like so many other readers, was chomping at the bit for Teddy and Gus since their first interaction in Done and Dusted. Lost and Lassoed not only met, but exceeded my expectations. This was so many love stories in one, and it was a joy to watch these two see each other in a new way, and learn to be loved the way they so readily love others.
Thank you to Dial Press for the complimentary ARC!
I'm so happy that I got to read an ARC of this book, because I feel like I've been waiting for Teddy and Gus for yeaaaars already.
Lyla Sage delivered. This book was so swoonworthy and real, and you could feel how the characters loved everyone around them so fully.
The best Rebel Blue yet!
I KNEW I WOULD LOVE THEM! I have been obsessed with Gus and Teddy since their first spark in Done and Dusted. Their story does NOT disappoint. I devoured this book in one day and can’t wait to re-read it, it made me so happy. I also really enjoyed getting to see more from the rest of the Rebel Blue family during Geddy’s story (that’s their couple name, right?). What I didn’t expect was this sweet homage to fathers and how special a father figure can be. Anyway I highly recommend this book (the entire series really) because Lyla Sage is amazing and so are her characters and the world she has built. I’m super excited for Wild and Wrangled! Thanks to Netgalley and The Dial Press for the eARC.
Without a doubt, my favorite in the series so far. I knew I would love Gus and Teddy’s story, but it was better than anything I could have predicted. Lyla Sage put everything into these characters. I love this world she has created because it feels easy to know the characters and their lifestyles. I am honestly blown away at how she has woven together such special personalities into these books. Gave me the grumpiness of Daddy Cade Eaton which is hard to do and I love a grumpy single-dad every single time. Lyla Sage is reviving the small-town romance novel. I am so obsessed with her books. NEED Cam and Dusty immediately.
NO ONE WRITES MEN LIKE LYLA SAGE!!!!!! I devoured about 85% of this book in one sitting and I cannot get enough. This book made me want to re-read books one and two! For fans of the Rebel Blue Ranch series. This book was the romance we were waiting for since book one. August is the epitome of everything you want in a single dad cowboy. Teddy is a strong woman who cares endlessly for the people around her, while still chasing her dreams! I absolutely cannot speak highly enough of this one.
teddy and gus were everything i had hoped they would be and more.
layla sage has a way of making me cry in EVERY BOOK because she writes all her characters with these little nuances that just hit so close to home. teddy feels like my soulmate in character form because everything she feels is how i feel too!!!! she's perfectly flawed and i love her
gus is and ANGEL of a grump and just wants to do best by his family and his ranch 😭
Lyla Sage hits it out of the park AGAIN—absolutely loved Gus and Teddy’s story 🫶 I was praying their story would deliver all of my enemies to lovers dreams and it definitely did! The banter, spice, and all around character growth of. both characters was so fun to see. Loved being back at Rebel Blue Ranch 🩵🏇
I LOVE THIS SERIES AND THIS BOOK DID NOT DISAPPOINT!
Done and Dusted is one of my all time fav books, so I was ecstatic to get to read Lost and Lassoed! The continuation of the Blue Rebel Ranch warms my heart. If you ever need a heartfelt romance, this is the book for you! Amazing writing and storyline. 10/10 would recommend to everyone
The best Rebel Blue book yet!! Devoured Gus and Teddy’s story. Adored the expansion of both Hank and Riley in this one.
Thank you sooo much for this arc ! I literally screamed when I got the email I was sooooo excited for Gus and teddy’s story ! I love rebel blue, I love the Ryder family and I love the way this series has made me feel! This was no exception ! I absolutely loved August and Theodora together . I loved Riley and I loved their whole summer story ! Rock( fucking) Jasmine was so freaking cute ! Love love love ❤️ can’t wait for cam and Dusty’s story !
This was so so good! I haven’t read another book in the series so I was a little nervous about starting here but I love a single dad so I had to. Gus and Teddy were so good and I loved all of the relationships in the book, truly can’t wait for the next one!
Rating: 4.5/5
Wow wow, oh man was this good
I’ve previously enjoyed Lyla Sage’s books but this one takes the cake. You’d think this book would JUST be a best-friend’s older brother who’s my arch-nemesis single dad x nanny story but it is not. I was pleasantly surprised by the turn of events and I just missed all of the characters. I love Amos, he’s so cool and loving towards his family. I love the relationship between Teddy and her father, and Gus’ kid is adorable too. The fact of the matter is, he fell first and that’s all I’m going to say!
I can't stop thinking about this book. The dedication said it was for anyone rooting for Gus and Teddy since the beginning of Done and Dusted, and that means this book was for me. As an oldest sibling, I relate a lot to Gus (although I like to think I'm not nearly as grumpy) and I loved the talk Teddy and Emmy had toward the end (girlies support girlies, Emmy/Teddy friendship supremacy forever). I actually read this ARC before I got my hands on Swift and Saddled, and it just made me want to find it even more, even though now I'll have to suffer through more of Gus and Teddy hating each other. I'm fully in my modern day cowboy romance era.
COMFORT SERIES! I love this series and these characters so much! You can tell Lyla loves them too. The love and care she has for them shines through her character development and story telling. Cannot wait for all my friends to read this so we can talk about! And I’m sooo excited for book 4!
Okay you guys. I LIKED Done and Dusted, it wasn’t my obsession but I enjoyed it. I enjoyed Swift and Saddled a little bit more but thought it was missing something. THIS BOOK SLAYED. Teddy and Gus were perfection. The banter, the little every day moments that they have and getting to see their history come to fruition.
Lyla has such an amazing way of including you in the environment. Rebel Blue and its small town sweetness is a character in itself. You feel like you’re going back to your favorite vacation town reading any of these books.
What set this one apart from the first two is just the strength of characters from Teddy and Gus. You feel like you’ve known them forever. The chemistry between the two of them is fantastic. I also loved that the snarky banter didn’t stop through the entire book. Being a sassy spouse myself, I loved that they don’t lose the “giving each other crap” in the book like many characters in romance books too.
If you were hesitant to pick this one up because the first two weren’t 5 stars to you…DO IT. Pick it up. I really loved it so much!! I cannot wait for Cams book next.
