This was everything I hoped and needed it to be. I’ve loved Gus & Teddy from the start. I’ve seen some people say their relationship felt rushed, but THAT’S THE POINT! When they know, they know!!! I love me a grumpy x sunshine read, but now I need more rocker babe x sullen cowboy. Now I will commence scrolling through pictures of Riley Green because he's my Gus Ryder
Lyla baby.. THIS BOOK IS PURE PERFECTION.
Oh they “hate” each other but suddenly she’s the nanny to his daughter and lives in his house a few days a week? Oh no, I hope they don’t fall *maniacal laughter*
Gus may feign indifference but he is a man OBSESSED. Like, down bad and getting dragged through the pasture by Teddy’s beautiful, sparkling self. No wonder he’s so cranky.. he can’t stop thinking about her neck (IYKYK). And I can’t stop thinking about how perfect the tension and forced proximity played out throughout this book.
And don’t even get me started on Teddy.. a girl after my own heart. She’s not just the daughter of a rock star, she is a force of nature. The relationship she develops with Gus’ daughter?! BYE. You won’t see one written any better than this book right here. As usual, her and Emmy had me cracking up and tearing up while reading this one. Their friendship is goals.
Honestly, it’s a damn shame Rebel Blue Ranch isn’t a real place. But, it is in my head so I guess that will have to do.
A million thanks to Dial Press for granting me with the privilege of reading this ARC after I begged in their inbox.
Gus and Teddy are sweet, spicy, funny, salty, tender, and REAL. I want to be their best friends and want to live out the rest of my existence in Meadowlark, Wyoming. Every opportunity I have to return to Rebel Blue is an absolute delight. Lyla is an absolute star and Lost and Lassoed shines so bright!
Lyla writes multi-dimensional characters and realistic relationships that are simply overflowing with heart. It's clear in the story that every relationship, interaction, scene, and conflict serves a purpose. Her story arcs are *that* consistent. It's easy to see yourself in Lyla's characters: They're relatable and authentic in ways that can make anyone feel seen. While Lost and Lassoed is first and foremost Gus and Teddy's love story, we see so many other relationships unfold: Gus and Riley, Gus and Amos, Teddy and Hank, Teddy and Emmy, and more. As Lyla talks about in her author's note, L&L is totally a love letter to dads and it's obvious how much of her own heart Lyla pours into her stories. All of these relationships make for a well-rounded story and a dimensional world that feels real.
Gus and Teddy was the relationship I was rooting for since day one reading Done and Dusted, and this did not disappoint. Single dad, nanny, enemies to lovers, this had it all. Teddy's relationship with Riley was absolutely precious, and Gus's relationship with his daughter, as well as how he coparents with Cam is truly amazing. This is by far my favorite book in the Rebel Blue Ranch world, because I feel like it is the most realistic relationship timeline of all of them,
Lyla Sage has a way of bringing the mountains to life, and I absolutely loved reading it. The characters in this book are relatable, the plot feels appropriately paced, and the growth that we see from Gus and even Teddy is fantastic. Everyone finding out about Teddy and Gus also felt realistic. And the highlight of the book? Riley's "Rock f*cking Jasmine. Cannot wait to go back to Rebel Blue in April.
LOVED this book! Lyla Sage is great at small town romance. You could feel the chemistry between the main characters and the way she describes the ranch makes me want to move to Wyoming ASAP.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for an early access copy of this book in return for an honest review!
Lost and Lassoed follows two of my favourite characters in this series; I was so excited to read about Teddy and Gus and this book did NOT disappoint!
Their chemistry and banter was absolutely everything! How they know each other so well, and are able to read when they can play around with each other or when they need to be there for each other in the serious moments is truly unmatched.
Not only was Gus and Teddy’s chemistry to die for, the family bonds in this book are everything. Seeing Gus and Teddy’s relationship with Riley, as well as with their own parents and siblings made this book feel like such a comfort. The sisterhood between Teddy and Emmy is something that never fails to make me cry, even when they fight they still have so much love and respect for each other and they always come back together.
Teddy’s relationship with her father really shone throughout this book, but especially at the end. Their father-daughter bond was something incredibly special to read about. Gus’s relationship with his family was wonderful to see as well.
SPOILERS INCOMING
“I want you to know… that I think Teddy would make a hell of a bonus parent, and it would be an honor to add her to our team”
“And Teddy - our lion - might be the only person I know who loves as fiercely as you do.”
These two quotes were the stand outs to me. Both coming from Cam just really meant a lot to the story as a whole in my opinion. Teddy really is one of the strongest characters and seeing how her and Gus get the quiet moments with each other that no one else gets to see is a testament of their love being true.
“Your feelings about the way our friendship has shifted-they all make sense. I just never noticed because I was still your number one, but I also got to be Luke’s. And when I thought about it that way, I realized that you should have that, too.”
“Luke is my fiancé, my partner, my everything. But you’re my soulmate, Teddy Andersen, and I’m the luckiest girl in the world because of it.”
Teddy and Emmy’s friendship never fails to get me in my feels and I was sobbing at both the fight and make up scenes. Their bond is something incomparable.
Gus’s whole love confession was too much to quote, but what a way to start a love so passionate and everything!!
Lyla Sage truly delivered with this book and I just want to thank her for everything Lost and Lassoed means.
Lyla Sage's best so for in this series. I've read the first two in this series and each one is better than the previous. Teddy has been one of the characters I've loved also Gus and Riley are absolutely wonderful in this novel. The fathers Gus's is Amos and Teddy's is Hank, are so lovingly written you see how much Lyla loves her own father. Not only is this a love story between Gus and Teddy, it's also a tribute to good fathers and the love of the land, ranch.. Family's can be people you are not related to by blood but choose to be friends with. Truly a read when you are feeling lonely and down. Looking forward to her next in this series Wild and Wrangled. Thank yo NetGalley for the Galley copy.
Lyla Sage and Elsie Silver are leading the pack in reviving the contemporary cowboy romance genre and I am HERE FOR IT!!! I honestly can't get enough of the Rebel Blue Ranch crew and was rooting for Teddy and Gus from the first page! A grumpy single dad with dyslexia, Gus has thought his little sister's best friend, Teddy was too over the top, sunshiney and loud but when she agrees to help watch his little girl, the two become close and the sparks fly. Sizzling with chemistry and great caretaking moments, Gus helps Teddy when her rockstar older father has a health crisis and these two just can't help admitting they are gone for one another. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy and @prhaudio for a complimentary ALC in exchange for my honest review!
Gus Ryder is Meadowlark's hottest, single dad on the market. Teddy Anderson is his sister's best friend, and mortal enemy. Gus has his daughter for the summer and needs help running his household while he runs the ranch. Emmy, his younger sister, thinks hiring her best friend as his part-time nanny is a great idea - Gus, not so much. He reluctantly agrees to this arrangement, but starts to see his mortal enemy in a different light. If anyone can turn the hot grumpy cowboy into an absolute softy, it would be Teddy Anderson.
Per usual, another trip to Meadowlark, Wyoming leaves me all giddy inside. I have nothing but positive things to say about his book. This is one my few 5 stars reads this year and I can't wait for the next book. I especially enjoyed the epilogue. I feel like most romance books wrap the couples up in a bow for the reader in the epilogue, and while the author does do that for Gus and Teddy, she leaves us on a little bit of a cliffhanger as well.
Overall - 5 stars
Thank you Netgalley and Dial Press Trade for the arc!
Number 3 in the Rebel Blue Ranch series! So glad to get this ARC from NetGalley. Teddy and Gus are your classic enemies to lovers pair. Teddy is Gus' little sister's best friend and she winds up nannying for his six year old daughter over the summer. With some forced proximity these two are toast. I'm in my cowboy romance era and Lyla Sage is bringing new life to the genre!
Teddy and Gus!!!! Finally!!!!!!!!
Teddy getting roped into being the nanny for Gus' daughter is the perfect way for this romance to come together (and not something I expected for their story, so it was a nice surprise).
The next installment of the Rebel Blue Ranch series is the one we've all been waiting for--enemies turned lovers Teddy & Gus.
When Gus finds single parent duties over the summer a bit too much to handle without his normal ride or die co-parent, Teddy gets roped into being his daughter's nanny. In the previous books we've seen these two at each other's throats, but in this book we see a different and softer side to both of them. When both of their lives get a little stormy--they find safe harbor in each other.
It was beautiful to watch these two blossom from bickering to two people who not only really care about each other, but are so soft and tender with each other. It was something so unexpected but felt so perfectly right for these characters. The way Gus says "Teddy baby" will have your toes curling and your heart fluttering.
Another part of the book that was unexpected but really captured what a lot of people encounter as they grow up and find partners is their changing friendship dynamic. I really related to Teddy mourning her changing friendship with Emmy. Lyla Sage really captures the happiness that you have for your friend while also mourning the loss of your old relationship.
Enchanted by the charming Rebel Blue Ranch, this latest book in the series had me hooked! The story of Teddy and Gus has been a long time coming. Teddy, always marching to the beat of her own drum, is starting to feel like life might be passing her by. Meanwhile, Gus Ryder is juggling too much—managing the sprawling 8,000-acre ranch and caring for his six-year-old daughter. He needs help, and Teddy needs a new direction. Teddy has always been the best friend of Gus's little sister, while Gus has always been that unattainable crush. Together, they embark on a journey toward something greater.
Sage delivers yet another fantastic Wyoming ranch romance. It's hot and spicy with just the right amount of sass to make us all cheer for their union. Sage masterfully tackles heavier topics, weaving them seamlessly with the steamy romance. The Rebel Blue Ranch series is always a must-read!
I have been waiting for Teddy and Gus since Done and Dusted. Let me start by saying that the wait was worth it in some aspects.
While the writing was beautiful, especially the descriptions of Wyoming and Rebel Blue, this book was absolutely riddled with mistakes. Twenty three in all, with one major one. I hope that this book goes to an editor before publication. The major mistake was when Teddy took her sweatshirt off after a run and left it OUTSIDE on the porch instead of bringing it inside. But in the next scene/paragraph she was wiping sweat from her face with said sweatshirt INSIDE the house. It's details like that when not done well that take me out of the story. And the numerous number of mistakes did that for me. From putting a quotation mark where there doesn't need to be one, putting the wrong word (ie: "Right the, my phone started buzzing in my back pocket"), or duplicating a word (ie: "Why would anyone want to get married in in December in Wyoming"). I still enjoyed the story and Teddy and Gus' journey, but man all those mistakes really broke up the magic. I've never read an ARC with that many mistakes in it before. And I know that ARCs are prone to mistakes, but I don't think this went to an editor at all before it hit NetGalley. Even still, I was happy to read it. Just hope some of that gets cleaned up before release.
Something else I didn't really like was how quickly he and Teddy got over their differences. One part they're arguing and still hate each other, and all of a sudden they're together in the next bit. There was no third act tension. Which is okay in some instances. But I feel like their relationship was rushed. They hated each other way too much for Teddy to have cramps and for Gus to suddenly change his mind about her and make lovey eyes at her for the rest of the novel. Also, why make Gus so wholesome like reading Riley's book to himself because he has dyslexia and wants to read them without mistakes to Riley, and then never have him and or Teddy mention it again? It was like Wes being mentioned to have severe depression, and never once did it make it into the story like Emmy's panic attacks did. It's like the author was mentioning those things for the sake of being inclusive to disabilities. Which is great, but those disabilities need to be shown instead of mentioned once and shoved into the closet of things never to be seen again.
All in all I enjoyed this read. But it read more like a novella story wise than a finished novel.
I loved Teddy and Gus’s story so much. Their banter was top tier. The tensions between them was so thick, I could feel it coming off the page. The spicy scenes were everything I was hoping for from these two. I loved getting to know the other characters too. The relationship between Teddy and her dad was so special. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. If Lyla Sage writes it, I’m going to read it.
Loved this! The cover was the first thing along with the author that drew my attention to this book. The rest in the series is amazing! I will definitely be looking forward to it when it comes out on the shelf. I I’ve a single dad trope. I of course loved the banter between Gus and Teddy but I especially loved the way they eventually opened up to each other. I loved the gifts Teddy boss gave her as somewhat of a thank you for the work she did while working for her. I loved this book!
The storyline was cute. Gus and Ted put so much on themselves that they kinda forget to take care of themselves. Riley seems like the best kid ever, too good to be true. The relationship Gus and Cam have can be the envy of a lot of separated parents. Cute book to read you need a quick love story.
had a ton of fun with this one! i love the rebel blue ranch world and think that lyla sage's writing keeps improving as the series continues. this book is fun, romantic and has lots of depth to it as it explores all different kinds of love, especially familial. the narration style is very casual and personal, which works well with the dual POV. the epilogue pulled me out of the story a bit with how fast the relationship moved and then ending on a note that sets up the next book.
Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine for providing a DRC of this title for review.
Although I think Done and Dusted is probably still my favorite of Sage’s works, readers in their cowboy romance era or fans of the previous books in the series will find a lot to like in this one! 3.5/5 stars.
This was my most anticipated release of this season and it did not disappoint! This will forever be my favorite cowboy romance series 🩷 The books just get better and better. And I was so happy to finally be able to read Teddy and Gus’ love story. I really enjoyed Riley being a bigger part of the story she is just so freaking cute. The ending made me cry more than the first two 🥹 I’m just so happy Teddy & Gus got their happy ending! And the last sentence of the epilogue seriously surprised me. I can’t wait for Cam and Dusty’s story!
