Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me an early copy in exchange for a review! I have been highly anticipating this book and I was so so excited to receive the email telling me that I had gotten approved for an arc! I am happy to report that "Lost and Lassoed" did not disappoint! It had almost everything I hoped for. I enjoyed the steamy scenes (don't get me wrong!!!) but I was also touched and surprised by how much heart this book had. It delved into the complexities of friendship relationships and parent-child relationships in ways that were both beautifully and painfully honest. I loved how Gus and Teddy were able to let their guards down and find comfort, support, and love with each other. This was such a joy to read and I flew through it very quickly.
My one small complaint is how short this book was! I wish we were able to see more of Gus and Teddy's relationship progression, even if it was just the smaller, more mundane moments that come with falling in love. The relationship in this book progressed in a way that felt natural, but quick and I found myself wishing for more. Overall, I enjoyed this book and will be recommending it to readers!
I love this book. I think Lyla Sage created Augusts and Teddys characters so well. I cannot wait to see what happens next at Rebel Blue Ranch!
Easily and officially my new favorite Rebel Blue Ranch novel! Gus & Teddy absolutely light up the page with their electric banter and dynamite chemistry. I liked them both in previous books, but they shine taking center stage in their own story.
August & Theodora are one of those couples who you kind of wonder "would they actually be compatible long term?" until you see them spend more time with each other, show themselves the soft underbelly they don't let others see, and realize "oh my god – they're literally perfect for each other."
Riley (Gus' daughter) and Hank (Teddy's father) were true highlights of this book for me. More than just the story of two people falling in love, this book is a love letter to fathers and daughters. It was so special seeing these two characters add so much life and heart into the narrative. Plus, seeing Hank & Teddy definitely helped cure some of my daddy issues.
I loved my time reading this and would heartily recommend it to anyone who loves a good cowboy romance, a best friend's brother trope, single dad x nanny, or honestly anyone who's on the hunt for a couple that has that magic IT factor.
This is my first Lyla saga book ( don’t come for me , I know this is the third book in the series but I’m not too concerned about the reading order )
The book started off strong—I really enjoyed the first 30%, especially the banter between the characters. However, it went downhill from there. Neither of the main characters showed any real development, and their relationship felt very shallow. The progression from their first kiss to being in a full relationship happened way too quickly, without building an emotional connection, which is crucial for me in romance books. Instead, their relationship seemed to be based mostly on physical attraction. As the story went on, I found myself forcing through the repetitive writing. The nicknames, particularly from his side, were cringy . when I finally learned the reason behind their "enemies" dynamic, I was really disappointed—I expected something much more compelling.
I don’t think it was a bad book, but I definitely expected more from the characters. That being said, there were aspects I enjoyed, like Gus’s daughter, Teddy’s bond with her, and how friendships were portrayed. Despite my disappointment, I’m still looking forward to Cam's story in the next book. I’m not ready to give up on this author just yet.
Thank you Netgalley and Random house for the Arc . The Arc was provided in exchange for my honest review

The perfect follow up to the first 2 books in the series!! I was so excited for Teddy & Gus’ story and Lyla Sage did NOT disappoint!! This was the sweetest, most heartfelt single dad, enemies to lovers story I’ve read in ages, and I loved every minute of the 5 hours it took me to absolutely devour this book. 10/10 would recommend.
Arguably Sage’s best instalment yet. The chemistry was perfect in this enemies to lovers story between Teddy and Gus. We were tantalized with their dynamic in previous books and the slow burn that evolved as our leads finally decided to unravel in-front of each other was so satisfying.
4.5 stars!
Miss Lyla Sage has done it again! I absolutely LOVED Gus & Teddy! It was giving major loathe to love with forced proximity & single dad/temporary nanny and the tender moments between them had me !!! and the tension? Immaculate. Between the tension, the chemistry, the caretaking, the way they loved each other, this was such a delightful addition to the Rebel Blue Ranch series.
I think my favorite part about this novel was Emmy & Teddy's friendship!! I think everyone deserves a cosmic, written in the stars, soulmates-type of friendship that these two have.
I am so so so excited for the next book in the series, it was set up so well!
This was a dup review for some reason. i have already submitted it......................................
WOWWWWW I never want this series to end and I will be devastated when it does with the next book!!
I've been absolutely FERAL for the Gus x Teddy enemies-to-lovers romance since book 1 and Lyla did not leave me disappointed! Their dynamic shuffles through so many ups and downs, and you can really tell that they're made for each other by the time the book is over. At their core, they're two people who are used to making sure everyone else is taken care of--but who takes care of them? They understand each other on a deep level, and Teddy brings the perfect amount of sunshine into the grumpy single-dad's life.
Honestly I can't recommend this book & this series in general enough!!! I would move to Meadowlark right now if I could!
I’m a big Lyla Sage fan and I really liked this book. I had been waiting for their love story through the first two books and I love the interconnected storylines of the books. It was really fun and I always want to hang out on the ranch.
Lost and Lassoed is the third installment in Lyle Sage's Rebel Blue Ranch series. The single dad trope seems to be really taking off in these contemporary romance novels and tie it in to a cowboy romance as well? OKAY!
each time, the rebel blue ranch series delivers an entertaining romance, made more by a vivid setting and lovable side characters. and lost and lassoed is no different, centered around gus and teddy and their anticipated enemies to lovers dynamic.
3.5 ★
given the hype surrounding these two, I did expect to be more consumed by this story than I ultimately was. however, I could never deny flying through the chapters. it was a good time, being back in meadowlark. the emmy & luke and wes & ada cameos were delightful, driving home the strength of the ryder family and those they have welcomed into it over the years. as a fan of cities, never have I ever desired to live on a ranch in the middle of nowhere, unless it is fictional and brimming with rugged cowboys written by a woman.
the bond that formed and flourished between teddy and riley, gus's daughter, was perhaps my favorite part. it was sweet to witness their easy dynamic, as though they were always destined to mean more to each other.
one of my main issues was this strange grouping of chapters where their present timeline and a flashback were designed to mirror each other. however, this small peek into their past could have been eliminated without much difference made to the story. at a pivotal moment in the plot, the weight of their history felt brushed over and rushed.
finally, in the final moments of the epilogue, the premise of dusty and cam's book, wild and wrangled is served on a platter. in addition to some of the crumbs of them throughout the series and this book especially, they're the couple that has most piqued my interest. a past love, single mom, small town, cowboy romance? can't wait.
hanks to lyla sage and dial press for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Rating: 🤩 iconic, obsessed a favorite
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
I keep expecting one of these Rebel Blue Ranch books to disappoint, but Lyla Sage does 👏🏼 not 👏🏼 miss 👏🏼! Teddy and Gus are literally meant for each other. I’ve said it since D&D and I will stand by it forever! I think they’re my favorite couple! Something about frenemies to lovers, forced proximity and found fam just does it for me. Also, chapter 27, GUTTED ME. Be warned.
The Ryder family is worried about Gus juggling all his responsibilities while Cam (baby mama) is away for the summer for her new job. Gus has never been one to put his duties off on someone else or just take a day off. Healthy coping mechanisms, clearly. That’s probably where all his pent-up aggression comes from. Theodora knows exactly what buttons to push and when to push them. But becoming Gus’ daughter’s part time Nanny was definitely not on her summer bingo card. Watching Teddy with his daughter is just what tips him over the edge to thinking she may not be all sarcasm and show. She may have a tender side; the one that she reserves for taking care of her people. But when roles reverse and Teddy is the one who needs someone to lean on, Gus has to choose between keeping up the mutually passive aggression or give in to the girl who may be the missing piece in his family puzzle.
your honor, lyla, I would die for gus and teddy. lost and lassoed delivered everything I wanted and MORE, and I wish I could experience it again for the first time. I cried, I laughed, I blushed. thank you for this beautiful and sexy love story. I'll take 100 more.
I truly have no words to express how much I loved this book. Not only am I a Lyla Sage fan, but I am a huge single dad/nanny fan, therefor I feel that this book was written for me.
Gus and Teddy were everything I wanted and needed them to be and more. Gus was so grumpy, but when he falls? He falls HARD. That man was obsessed with Teddy and I am going to try to force my husband to read this book and maybe pick up some tips. Now don’t even get me started on Teddy. An icon, and idol, a role model. I want to be Teddy. She’s so loyal, strong and one of my favorite FMC’s ever.
This book was sassy, funny, smutty, and the perfect grumpy/sunshine I could have asked for.
Thank you so so much for the ARC Random House!!
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me read this. I had been drawn to Lyla Sage’s book covers for a while but this was my first read. I loved the pacing, character development and overall story. This book was spicy and had some flow of a typical romance book, however the story line and characters were deeper than the stereotype and had me emotional on a different plane.
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Teddy, a fashionista who designs and sews her own line while working at a unique clothing boutique, gets great delight out of making rancher Gus’s life a living hell after he rejects her one night. Since her best friend is his sister, they co-exist in the same circle of friends, with a lot of forced proximity. Teddy has a lot of opportunities to be snide to Gus, who is generally mean right back. She has a soft spot for his precious and precocious daughter Riley though, so when Gus and his ex Cam can’t manage their co-parenting duties on top of their demanding jobs, Teddy, who has coincidentally just lost her job due to the sale of the business, is brought in as an au pair a few days a week.
Between caretaking and keeping house, Teddy and Riley embark on a search for native wildflowers, and Gus’s presence begins to fill her nights. Teddy fits seamlessly into Gus’s household, and while the adults fight their attraction for a long time, the slow burn, lust and longing, and frenemies-to-lovers transition, with all it’s passion, fear and vulnerability, is wholly believable, mostly because the ribbing is more sniping, and the attraction was there from the beginning.
This western romance has so much heart, y’all. The vivid and vivacious characters leap off the page, especially Teddy; her career angst and a riff with her best friend are dealt with in a mature way, as is Gus’s parenting doubts and desire to leave his own stamp to the legacy of his family’s ranch. The Wyoming setting is evocative and described with so much love. I LOVE the retro styled cover. The story works as stand-alone novel but is probably best read in sequence with the others in series, and Lost And Lassoed was compelling enough that I’m looking forward to the sequel, where it’s hinted Cam will finally get her happy ending.
I received a free advance reader’s review copy of #LostandLassoed via #NetGalley, courtesy of #RandomHouse.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!
I absolutely adored Teddy and Gus' story. Ever since I read about them in the first book, I've been excited for their story and I wasn't disappointed. Their chemistry was great and nothing involving the situation felt too forced either.
The Rebel Blue Ranch series is quickly making its way onto the re-read list with Ana Huang's Kings of Sin series.
Absolutely great book! Finished in one sitting and couldn’t be more excited for the next installment in this series! Can’t Wait
I was pleasantly surprised when I originally picked up Done and Dusted with the romance and found family. I was excited to continue with these characters into the second and now third book. They did not disappoint and getting a look into the relationship between Gus and Teddy was so fun! Teddy and Gus have to much tension in the other books and getting to watch their feelings unfold for each other as well as the glimpse into their own insecurities was such a treat. I’m so excited to continue next with Cam!
