Leanne Morgan’s What in the World is such a great book. I’m a bit older than Leanne, but I can certainly relate to many of her experiences as a woman, a wife, and a mother. She is one of my favorite comedians, and I could hear her voice throughout. Parts of the book are laugh-out-loud funny, and parts are inspirational. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy.

I had only heard of Leanne Morgan when I saw this book. But didn't know anything about her at all. This book was the BEST introduction to her! I laughed hysterically at so many things, not to mention kept reading parts outoud to my husband.
I often say that I don't have much of a sense of humor, so if this book had me laughing, you know it's a good one!

I have been a huge fan of Leanne Morgan’s for several years now so when I saw she had a book out I knew I had to immediately request it because it’s like talking with an old friend. She’s so relatable and real and so dang funny. And this book did not disappoint! It tells her life story of growing up believing she was going to be somebody and how she finally made it big when her kids were all grown and left home and all the struggles along the way. While most of us can’t relate to trying to make it into show business, the life stories that are behind the scenes we definitely can. She talks about marriage, motherhood, friendships and life in general in a way that makes you laugh but also makes you go Yep! But I also genuinely love the fact that she truly relies on her faith to get her through life and is not ashamed to say it. A lot of famous people don’t want you to know that they’re Christian or want to talk about their faith for fear of being canceled m but she is unashamed and I love that about her. And I love that so often in the book she uses the title to reference moments in her life that she can’t believe. Just such a fun detail.
She’s charming and witty and someone I’d like to hang out with and even more so after reading this book.

This short, but sweet memoir from the southern queen of "momedy" will tickle those who love her stand up. I remember up-and-coming Leanne from her numerous appearances on the Knoxville radio show "Marc and Jim in the Morning" years ago and always delighted in her stories of motherhood, off and on battles with Weight Watchers and her exasperating husband Chuck. "What in the World?!" will offer all of that and more. I would definitely suggest the audio version to get the full experience, because this book will definitely shine when read by Leanne herself.

I became a fan of Morgan's around 2019 when my own daughter was nearing her high school graduation, and so I watched, listened and guffawed to her own story of God preparing her for empty nesting by making her teenager mean. I followed her during the lockdown as she reminded me of making the Jello casseroles of my own southern upbringing. But let's be honest...just because you enjoy someone's comedy routines doesn't mean you'll love the story of their life. I came in tentatively, but left learning things I didn't already know (a young divorce, marital strife, lots of moves, and how she really got started in the business decades ago). I laughed, of course, but was also really emotionally moved by her story.
I definitely recommend checking out her comedy specials and even old clips and videos, but to really get to know an interesting woman, read this memoir! It's certainly not just for women, but if you are one, you'll relate to something here, southern or not. I will likely check out the audio version as well since I'm sure having her read it is a hoot!

What in the World is a short but enjoyable synopsis of Leanne Morgan's life filled with her Southern wit and sarcasm. She explains how she grew up, met her husband and got started in the comedy business while raising a family and dealing with life's everyday ups and downs. QUICK & SPOILER-FREE REVIEW: Oh, my GOODNESS! I’m an even bigger fan of Leanne Morgan after reading this funny & heartwarming memoir. As I read it, I envisioned her telling me her life story with her thick, southern drawl. I have so much admiration in how she was raised by such loving parents, and how being a mom and grandmama is her icing on the cake more than anything else. Her witty banter had me rolling in laughter, but I also ached when hearing about the hard stuff she’s faced. I HIGHLY recommend this one, so read it when it comes out this month on the 24th. And check out her Netflix special from 2023 while you’re at it! I wish Leanne could be all our mamas!

"What In The World?!"....It's Leanne Morgan's love letter to her fans. The stand-up comic has finally put her life in writing. There is alot here we haven't heard on the stage. From her young life at home to her college years, early disappointments and divorce to her fierce determination to be a success while mothering her three children. You name it, Leanne's been there. She's still the same down to earth, Costco shopper we've come to love, sincere and hilarious at the same time. This book is as charming as she is on stage. I recommend it!

Y'all, I was so excited to see this book pop up in my feed! As a southern mom of three in my fifties, I am the target audience for Leanne Morgan's comedy. I love seeing her clips on Instagram because they always have something relatable for me. #IWasSoCuteInThe80s

The book is no different, but it's not all laughs. Morgan tells stories of youthful bad decisions in rural Tennessee, newlywed struggles, and career disappointments. She tells these stories with grace and forgiveness for her younger self and for the people in her past who have hurt her. Morgan's strong faith, mixed with her delightful lack of filter about her private life, makes for excellent reading!

Also, I think we married the same man. Mercy.

This is a fun and thoughtful journey through Morgan's life, highlighting the people and events that carried her to where she is today. Go ahead and preorder; you won't be sorry.

If you love her stand-up you will love What in the World! Leanne gives you background in her signature laugh-out-loud southern style. You can almost hear her as you read. This will probably make a great audiobook! You will learn about her early years and how special she was, because her mama told her every day. She was born a performer and used her wit and charm to make everyone feel like they were a part of the group. She tells about her not so spectacular time at UT and her unfortunate first marriage. Throughout the book we hear how her life evolved as a wife and mother and her eventual emergence into the Southern Comedy Queen. With her signature phases and humor this book is laugh out loud funny and a must read.

I absolutely love Leanne Morgan’s humor. She’s one of those relatable, down-to-southern-earth comedians who can make me wish I had used the restroom before she began. So, I was tickled to get an advance review copy of her book, What in the World?!

It didn’t disappoint. I was captivated by her story, the long, circuitous road to becoming a successful comedian. It’s an unusual tale. I mean, number one, she’s a woman, and although the field is growing, there are still fewer women succeeding at comedy than men. Number two, she’s a southern woman who hasn’t lost her delightful accent despite being criticized for it. And, three, she’s over 50 and her kids are grown and flown. People, she’s a unicorn.

This memoir is honest—at times you wonder how she had the courage to be so honest. It’s funny. And it’s encouraging. As a woman over 50 myself—okay, over 60 is more accurate—I especially related to not coming into my own until I’d passed some milestones. Just because your kids have left and your friends are looking at retirement doesn’t mean life is finished tossing you unexpected goodies.

Many thanks to Penguin Random House and NetGalley for this ARC.

What in the World was such an enjoyable to read that made me wanting more pages from Leanne Morgan. Having insight to her life makes me love her more. Her story is one of tears, laughter and ahhh haaa. I like how she shows her weaknesses as well as her strengths without being boastful and annoying. Leanne grew up in the South and always wanted to go to Hollywood and be a performer but life got in the way so many times. Who thought this 50+ woman could break out in her field of comedy and reach that goal of being famous, she did once she finally allowed her self to see it and then there was no slowing her down. Her life experiences help her write her set for her shows and man she has so much to work with. I loved learning about her time at college where she shared a house with 2 guys and really was more a house mom then roommate. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes comedy, women in unusual places and down right good times. Just a warning you will laugh out loud with this book and get strange looks if you are reading in public.

What a fun, relatable, laugh-out-loud, feel-good book this one was!
An honest, down-to-earth yet so, so humor-filled, is that even a real combo? Turns out, it is, and that’s this book.

This was a lot of fun. Definitely laughed out loud in places and enjoyed getting to learn about her journey to where she is now and her side tours and obstacles along the way. She is just as open and charming in this book as she is in person and onstage. If you are a fan or a woman of a similar age, I think you‘ll get a lot out of this book. GenX strong women for the win! Releases 9/24!

Dear Leanne, Thank you for writing this book- it was brave and funny and oh so relatable for women of a “certain age”- eg women who have been married FOREVER, and have experienced some stuff, and finally the kids are grown and are thinking NOW WHAT? Reading your story was like having a sweet tea with a dear friend, sharing your heartache and cheering on your triumphs. You go girl! Wishing you every success. This book is full all the midlife themes, hot flashes, weight gains, broken hearts, but also the good stuff that comes from focusing on what really matters, and believing in yourself. Recommend!

❤️ Just a thought, but if ever you get tired of the road- I know that 100 nights in hotels ain’t as fun as one would think. I would love to read a fictional story written by you. With all your warmth and humor, Im sure it would be a best seller. ❤️

I'd never heard of Leanne Morgan, but I was drawn to request this book based on the title and the cover pic. I love finding a good, humorous southern book. Normally they're fiction, but this is a memoir, with truth, laughs, and speaking to me as a, let's say, well, middle aged woman. I laughed while reading it, which was a bit of a problem as my husband was asleep next to me. I'll take "real" over certain housewife franchises any day.

I was so happy to find What in the World, and now I have to check out Leanne's comedy!

What In The World ⁣
Leanne Morgan ⁣

Can I give it 10 ⭐️’s??? I know, I know but you get it. This one’s a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⁣

Leannes’s tagline of the book A Southern Women’s Guide to Laughing at Life’s Unexpected Curveballs and Beautiful Blessings. ⁣

Ahhh this was a fresh breath of air! LIFE is complicated and hard! Leanne’s comedic relief way of looking at life had me laughing many, many times. She writes in her “southern twang” and I loved it! ⁣

The titles of her chapters and the way she weaves her words will have you turning the pages! I mean one chapters called How to rock a swim dress, so you can only imagine! She’s a comedian at heart and she has perfectly intertwined that into her “story”. ⁣

If you have never heard of or watched Leanne Morgan, do yourself a favor and DO it! I had never heard of her until February this year when my Aunts invited me to her comedy show in Cleveland, Ohio. If you know me, I’m not a big comedy show kinda girl but Leanne has me hooked. ⁣

Reading her book I could hear her voice as I read the pages. So when I saw her book on #netgalley I couldn’t apply fast enough! I was over the moon when I was chose to read her book before it was out to the public!!! ⁣

Find her the next time she comes to your town, watch her Netflix special AND buy the book when it comes out! ⁣

Thank you NetGalley, Convergent Books and Leanne Morgan for this Advanced Reader Copy! ⁣
