Valley is the bittersweet conclusion to The Glacian Trilogy. Valley follows straight on from Chasm with our protagonists faced with darkness, grief, anxiety, suspicion and a glimmers of hope. I cannot say often enough, the authors voice allows for a punch and methodical placement of dialogue and action that places the reader squarely in the discomfort. Throughout the story arc the author was not kind to anyone. Everyone is suffering. It felt like a philosphical nudge from the author to acknowledge that we all suffer and we all suffer differently. Yet we all love deeply as well.

The third person writing style evokes the walls of the cavern as the characters walk its base. As a reader, be prepared for travel, being lost and being found.
The plot felt like we were reading an echo. Like the sounds of the Chasm echoing, the story itself offers echoes of other times as history weaves and the future emerges.

The relationships between characters drives the story. Their ebbs and flows, tension, forgiveness, duplicity and emerging trust all have their place. The unfurling of Dawsyn into a mature leader with Ryon as her stoic, unwavering support is done without fluff. Of my favourite characters, Esra, Salem, Hector and Ruby, we again see that love is love and the precious value of levity in dire situations. The overall character twists were beautifully unveiled.

The fantasy style leads the throughout the trilogy, with romantasy “small r”. A rare original series, The Glacian Trilogy, Ledge, Chasm and Valley will be on my highly recommended list for some time to come.

With thanks to Angry Robot, Net Galley and the author, Stacey McEwan. All opinions are my own and I will forward my therapy bills to the author :).

I loved this book!
It was a little dark in the beginning, wich suited the ending of the previous book.
I liked the different POVs and following the characters. This book really tied the story together perfectly and I loved that everyone got an ending.
The character arc for Dawsyn was amazing! I loved her from the start and I feel like she really setlled in herself in this book.
Would definitely recommend this whole series!

A wild, unrelenting and entirely unhinged final instalment from McEwan, I thought Valley delivered on all fronts. The story picks up where we left our band of intrepid heroes - right in the thick of bad decisions and pessimistic prospects. The writing is punchy and the dialogue balanced between witty banter and grim exchanges. It's fast-paced and entirely readable.

One thing about this book that made me smile wryly throughout is that NOBODY is having a good time at any point. Not Dawsyn, not her little found family, not anyone putting their faith in her actually. But also none of the "baddies" are having a fun rainbow happy time of it either - everything is disordered, making poor decisions and just hoping for the best. It lends the story a real feeling of chaotic fervor and as events crack along the reader is just along for the ride.

We have grown so attached to the characters over the course of the books and there's some really beautiful, touching moments that grow their relationships amongst all the action. Dawsyn remains a firm favorite of mine but I was surprised to really be drawn to Yennes' story as we learnt more about the mysterious mage.

I did find myself getting bogged down in the middle of the book, but I do think this had more to do with me rather than the book itself, because I couldn't fault the writing.

This was an action-packed, heart-in-mouth finale to one of the most original fantasy trilogies I've read in recent years.

This is the perfect finale to a God Tier trilogy. This will go down as one of the best romantaty series that I have ever read! It is intense, emotional and so very powerful. The ending was not typical of this genre but it was still absolutely wonderful and just what we needed. The characters maintained their qualities that we have grown to love. Dawsyn is still angry and Ryon is still so supportive. The whole gang is there - well.....I'm not spoiling anything. Esra is still hilarious! Stacey has written a masterpiece and she is a true talent! Yes, we are all strong, cranky women with axes inside.

Big thanks to Stacey McEwan, Angry Robot and NetGalley for an early release copy of this book. This is my honest review.

It’s safe to say I’m pretty heartbroken this trilogy is over. I got to the very last page and just sobbed.

If you’re looking for a new fantasy series, I would definitely recommend this one. From the world it’s set in to the friendships between the characters to the reason for the conflicts, I genuinely enjoyed it all.

In Valley, we got to flip between different timelines with multiple characters, and it kept me so invested! I genuinely had no idea where the book was going most of the time, and some of the twists had my jaw on the floor.

I’m extremely sad to say goodbye to these characters, but excited for anyone that gets to pick these books up for the first time.

Valley is the final installment in the Dawsyn Sabar Trilogy that began with Ledge and last left us hanging over Chasm. This is an epic and satisfying conclusion that feels right in all the good ways though the ending perhaps wraps more nicely than I want for my ax-wielding badass. It is beautiful and heartbreaking and full.
Yennes could have had an entire book just about her. I loved getting to know her better, and the depth of her character was beautifully layered.
My review of this novel has been somewhat delayed as I have savored every page knowing it would be my last chance to read Dawsyn's story for the first time. It was an absolute pleasure.
A note about the author: Stacey McEwan is a gem of a human being. I had the honor of hearing her speak about her work last month, and I will forever support her as an advocate for a safer, more humane world for us all, writing fantasy with elements of hope and compassion we all would love to see in the real world. I will read everything she puts out into the world.
Massive thanks to NetGalley, Angry Robot, and Stacey McEwan for this ARC!

3 Stars

Like with Chasm, I really liked the world Stacey set up in this trilogy and the moral dilemma of the existence of the Ledge - but it just didn’t hit for me.

As I said before, the third person present tense really doesn’t work for me and I think it hampered the character development in a lot of ways. I felt no more connected to any of the characters in this finale than I was first meeting them throughout Ledge and Chasm. I didn’t know who half of them were enough to care what was happening to them.

That in mind, there was still plenty I liked from the LGBT and colour representation, the effective use of the Trolley problem, and the Queens. I especially liked how the Queens’ relationship shifted here.

Overall, if you liked Ledge and Chasm you’ll love this as a satisfying ending (I did think the final conflict and resolution was well done). I think Stacey has a lot of talent and promise and I’m excited to see what she does next.

Sorry but I am half way out and I just want to submit this review as the book has been released some days ago.

This whole series is such a gem, it balances fun and heartbreak, cuteness and grossness, world building and romance. I think this is an excellent romantasy for people that want a finished series that is unique!!

I love this series with all my heart!

I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I laughed. I cried. I sobbed. This had everything.

The trilogy as a whole is a little different than any other fantasy I’ve read, which is saying something. The characters have motivations and thoughts and feelings, and they come through so well. The more we get to know the characters, the more we grieve with and for them. The fear of a character dying is real throughout this whole series, and the author does a fantastic job of keeping us on the ledge (pun intended) of fear.

The writing is easy to read, the plot is basic, but with lots of twists and turns that makes it much more interesting.

The only reason I don’t give this book 5 stars is because the beginning drags a bit, but that is entirely intentional. If you’ve invested yourself in this series, you understand why the beginning is so slow. I think it’s perfect for the trilogy as a whole, but it made me dread picking up the book briefly. Again, not in a bad way. I feared for the characters. I feared they would never know freedom. I feared the end.

Yennes and Rivdan deserved more. 😭

Valley wraps up the Glacian trilogy with epic intensity. Dawsyn and her group, including the standout Salem, traverse the perilous Chasm, facing illness and eerie whispers. Their arrival at the end is shocking and far from expected.

This finale blends tragedy, triumph, and raw emotion, keeping you on edge from start to finish. Thanks to the publisher for the review copy, and to McEwan for a gripping, heart-racing conclusion that made me cry and sweat.

3.5✨ I loved how Stacey has used the found family trope in all her books. It was very heartwarming. Dawson and Ryon didn't have that many romantic scenes like the ones that makes you kick your feet in the air while giggling. Begining was really slowed paced and suddenly at the end it was fast paced which was uncomfortable to read. Valley was surprisingly fell short for me compared for me first two books. Nonetheless, overall I loved the trilogy and will for sure recommend it to my friends and followers. It was really new and amazing experience reading about a girl from nowhere who prefers ax over swords. Complete baddie. Ryon heart melting flirt lines and his passion for Dawson. I will also miss Salem and Ezra's arguments. What a journey it was :)

I received an Arc copy of this book. What a thrilling conclusion to the Glacian Trilogy! Dawson and Ryon many struggles ahead of them in the chasm. Around every twist and turn of this novel our heroes are faced with choices that will affect their futures. Can they survive? And can they rescue the people of the ledge for good? Read the book and find out!

What can I say? Stacey created a wonderful world I don't want to leave behind. The twists and turns, the characters. I will miss them all. Stacey had me on an emotional rollercoaster I did and didn't want to end. I'll miss Dawsyn and Ryon.

This entire trilogy is epic and captures the blinding rage we all wish we could release at any given moment. Dawsyn and her band of misfits (for lack of a better term, and Salem, boy is he a misfit...and I love him) trek through the bottom of the Chasm with little food, little hope, no light and a will power that is beginning to fade by the second. Through their trek they face illness, despair and whispers coming from the walls of the chasm. Whispers that beckon Dawyson to end it all. Though the do eventually make it to the "end" of the Chasm, it isn't without paying a hefty price. And what they find at the end? Well, it wasn't at all what they hoped.

I loved getting a POV from Yennes, who we end up finding out is not at all who she claims to be.

This book is the perfect ending to the Glacian trilogy. Through tragedy, triumph, grit, sheer willpower and rage we see Dawsyn and Ryon through to the very end. There is so much to this story that I could simply sit here and spout off all my feelings, thoughts and ideas for hours, but I won't do that. What I will do is thank the publisher for providing me with the opportunity to read and review one of my most anticipated 2024 reads! And thank you to Stacey McEwan for making me cry. Making my heart race. Making me sweat and grip the edge of my seat.

An epic conclusion to this trilogy. I love this world that Stacey has created. So many twists & turns, action packed, great banter and on the edge of your seat moments. I adore the characters, there is the most beautiful found family amongst them and I felt like I was one of them. Dawsyn is one of the most badass FMC’s ever written. She fights for justice, for her people and for her family. The love her and Ryon share is pretty epic. Brace yourselves and expect the unexpected. Stacey loves to shock us.

A fantastic conclusion to this trilogy. I look forward to reading more from Stacey in the future.

I need a minute to process!
This series has my whole heart!!!! Dawsyn and Ryon are my everything.

Ok I’ve had a few minutes to process this and I am honestly blown away with not only this book but this trilogy. This series played in my head like a movie (also low key this would be an epic movie/tv series). There was so much happening, so many twists, so much drama, it was just perfect. It was the perfect conclusion to the series. I am so sad it’s over. This series has consumed me since 2022 when Ledge was released and I just can’t believe we have made it to the end 😭

If you have come this far in the series, you will not be disappointed. Everything ties off perfectly with no loose ends and the epilogue was perfect.

Stacey, I’ve said it to you and I will scream it to everyone, you are a phenomenal writer. If you write it, I will read it (and talk allllll about it).

Phenomenal ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The final installment of the The Glacian Trilogy, VALLEY a strong ending to a weak fantasy series. The second book left us on a cliff hanger, just as the first book, and the last 25% was a complete info dump that came into play in this book. The magic system doesn't have much rules. but it was interesting to play with the idea of magic being alive. This trilogy could've benefit from different POVs, at time Dawson is just so tiring.

A great conclusion to an amazing series. It completely met my expectations and had some surprises I didn't see coming. Stacey has built a great world where you can see and feel it.

This book picks up where the second left off and the story keeps moving and flowing at a pretty good pace with lots of action.

Dawsyn is someone who fights for the people she loves, but at the same time has some doubts about her ability which makes her very realistic and her strength is unparalleled.

Ryon, is the heart of the story, he was a steady hand.

I love the Found Family feel with Dawson, Ryon and all their friends. You could tell they would stand by and believe in each other.

The ending was perfect, but bittersweet at the same time and you have to read it to completely understand.

Action

Romance

Strong FMC

Strong Found Family

Amazing worldbuilding and dangerous

Thank you, NetGalley and Angry Robot for this ARC.

With Chasm spending so much time on the hero’s journey and not a lot of time on action, I really did expect Valley to hit the ground running on page 1. Instead it dragged for about the first 30% and I found myself struggling to care about these characters anymore.

Once we got through that third, though, the rest of the book moved quickly, with lots of action and exciting conclusions to everyone’s stories. For this being her first series, I thought Stacey did a great job, and I look forward to reading anything else she chooses to write.
