A matchmaker and a divorce attorney find love —- add up a mix of magic equals “my kind of read! “
I truly enjoyed reading this. I chuckled and giggled over Slade and Kate banters. The story revolved around Kate convincing Slade that she is not a fraud ( she has “magic touch”! ) and finding Slade his soulmate!
I love how this story was written. The romance is slow burn and their chemistry va-va-vooooom undeniable!
The epilogue is just cute and unique too!!
Overall, a fun and light read but mind you! Steamy enough! Just what I needed at the moment!
On upon a time there was cupid. And cupid decided to go on vacation, so he let our heroine stand in for him. Or so he let her believe.
What he really planned was for there story of how the matchmaker falls in love.
Because we all deserve love.
re-read 2021.
3.5 stars
My reading preferences have definitely changed over the years and this re-read definitely wasn't like how it was the first time around.
Overall, it's a sweet romance that sooo many will enjoy. I struggled with the hero quite a bit, he definitely got too many chances ... especially as he kept throwing them away.
However, still love this author and it has been so long since I've read Jennifer's books.
I’ve loved books from this author. She had talent by the bucket load but this particular book didn’t do it for my individual tastes and that is such a shame. I guess it’s like the old saying goes ... it’s me not you. I’m definitely not breaking up with this author though - that’s for sure.
This author sure knows how to write new adult romance! This book is cute and fun and was a nice easy read. I really enjoyed it!
I am a BIG fan of Jennifer Probst and her Marriage series, and I was thrilled to find out that there will be a spin-off series called Love Spells. Kate is a great character, because she has this unusual gift that she's built her career on and suddenly it's more personal. She has a great personality, full of spark and wit. Slade seems to be a typical male, with commitment issues due to a broken marriage. But, there are deeper issues for both of them. When Slade's sister becomes a client at Kate's matchmaking business, he decides to do it too, just so he can keep an eye on her. Kate is trying to find his perfect match, but her gift is telling her she's the one. They both fight their feelings and the fall-out begins. This story is full of humorous situations that made me laugh out loud, and it also had me in tears. It was a beautiful journey for these two people to find their HEA. I was excited to see the Book of Spells make its appearance, as well as some beloved characters from the Marriage series. I'm really excited for the next installment of the Love Spells series. And I definitely recommend you read this!
The romance between these two was simply adorable. I'm invested how Slade pursues Kate even if she continually denies their connection. It's quite a chase but the push and pull between gradually developed their relationship.
I forgot to upload a review but I've pasted my overall thoughts on the novel.
- Cute and understated writing style.
- Layers were peeled back for Slade and Kate.
- Families are vastly different but important to both.
- Very funny to see Kate open up and Slade to loosen up.
- ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON-OFF. By the end of it, I didn't care and lost interest in their relationship.

Kate and her two college friends start their own matchmaking company called Kinnection in a small town not far from New York City. When divorce lawyer Slade finds out his fragile sister is using their service he storms in threatening to shut them down as scam artists. Kate issues a challenge instead. She and her company will find him the perfect woman (for him) and he’ll drop the posturing and let his sister live her life. They both get more than they bargained for.
This is a decent contemporary romance with a little bit of the paranormal thrown in. Kate has a gift for sensing romantic connections between people. She and her friends use solid business tactics for Kinnection, but Kate verifies their matches with her gift. They want to make people happy, not miserable so why not use all the tools in their toolbox? Slade is pretty unlikeable. Kate is a bit too wimpy for my tastes. The rest of the characters are ok and there’s some humor sprinkled in. The star of the show though is Robert, Kate’s dog. Come for the dog, stay for the humor.
Loved this read. Kate Seymour is the cupid of our day and puts her love matching skills to work. She sometimes feels its a curse like when she meets Slade Hot as hell Slade. This book is hot and fun to read but exaggerated at times. If you like a light read with a HEA then get to reading because you will love every minute of this book.
