Thank you NetGalley, author and publisher for my ARC of this book.
Love Helen Phifer's books, especially this series. Would be a great Hallowe'en series
4/5

I’m a massive Helen Phifer fan and I love crime fiction and paranormal stuff so I was super excited to read this book.
A hotel with a very creepy past, two dead girls and disturbingly creepy messages. .The thirteenth floor of a rundown New York City hotel room is no stranger to chilling events happening. What or who is responsible for the deaths of the two teenage girls? How is this case connected to the past identical case?
This is the third book in the series, I really enjoyed it. It was tense and had that spooky edge which loved. Helen is such an amazing writer and she consistently writes fantastic books. This didn’t disappoint at all a very. Solid five stars.

A spooky rundown hotel and two dead girls? Yes! The creepy vibes were perfect. Detective Maria miller is back in this creepy instalment. I love paranormal vibes in a book and this had the perfect amount. I would highly recommend reading the first two books first but it could possibly be read as a standalone to

Detective, serial killer AND paranormal........yes, please! This book has a great combination of all of those aspects, and they were intertwined so well. This is the third book in the Detective Maria Miller series, and we follow Maria and her partner Frankie as they try to solve another eerie crime. The bodies of two young girls are discovered in a rundown hotel, in a room with a disturbing history, on the 13th floor. The hotel has a reputation of being haunted and attracts those interested in catching some paranormal activity. Is it the haunted hotel luring them in or something or someone more sinister? This book literally gave me the creeps and chills and was such a fun read. I will definitely be reading more from this author.
Thank you NetGalley & author for an ARC of this book. #netgalley #thegirlsonfloor13 #helenphifer

This was an interesting read but a little too graphic for me at times. I had to put it down a handful of times for a while before coming back to it. The first half was thrilling but kinda went downhill from there...and the ending was lackluster.

The premise of the book is solid. A police procedural with a paranormal element. Mainly, set in an old, creepy hotel. Murders that mirror another mystery, in the not too long ago past.
I didn’t realize that this was #3 in a series. I found the book lagging at times but an overall good read.
Thank you to Storm Publishing and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

The first half of this book had me in a chokehold. It was so creepy, and I loved the spooky comparisons to the Chelsea Hotel. I was excited about the premise of the book and the buildup was fantastic. I was kind of disappointed that there wasn't more story about the actual girls on floor 13, and the resolution seemed kind of rushed. Some of the dialogue was odd, and I'm not really a fan of religion solving every paranormal conflict.
I wish I had paid more attention to the fact that this is a part of a series, because I'd probably want to go back and read the other books. However, there were so many spoilers referenced from the previous book(s), that now I don't really want to.

This is the 3rd book in the Maria Miller series. I have read number 1 but not number 2 and I would suggest you read them in order to get to know the characters. This is a mixed bag with genres of paranormal plus crime.

whoa!!!! this was super spooky and thrilling!!! very well done and a perfect book for all thriller lovers. 4.5/5 stars!!!

This is a great crime thriller with a supernatural twist. Chilling and captivating thriller that keeps readers engrossed from beginning to end. Fast paced, easy read and very spook.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher.

This was a haunted hotel ghost story that I usually would not be into; however, this story was AMAZING. Very captivating right from the start. I have not read the first 2 books in the series however was able to jump right in. I am looking forward to reading more of Helen Phifer's work after being completely engaged in the creepiness of this story. Huge thank you to Helen Phifer, NetGalley, and Storm Publishing for this advanced copy.

The Girls on Floor 13 by Helen Phifer was published on May 30th 2024 by Storm Publishing. This is the 3rd installment of the Detective Maria Miller series. This is the very first book I have read in the series and by this author but it definitely won’t be my last.
“When the bodies of two teenage girls are discovered in a rundown New York City hotel room, Detective Maria Miller is called to the crime scene. The best friends were supposed to be at a sleepover miles away in the suburbs. With no record of the girls checking in and the room on the thirteenth floor closed off to guests, what were they doing there? Sinister messages on their phones suggest the girls were lured to the hotel, using its reputation for hauntings as bait. The killer left no DNA behind and Maria's efforts to trace their identity leads to a dead end. But Maria feels certain the murderer works at the hotel. How else did they access the room and know it was empty? While Maria races to interview staff before another body turns up, the hotel manager shares an old newspaper article about an identical double murder decades before.
Could the cases be linked? After a key suspect is found dead in his home, a discovery in the hotel room sends shivers down Maria's spine. Can she uncover the secrets of the room on the thirteenth floor before she becomes its next victim?”
Wow is all I can really say because this was such a good read with the paranormal and the detective work. I couldn’t put it down until I finished it. I’ll be looking forward to more books in this series.

I didn’t realise it was part of a series until after starting, but it stands strong on its own, although I did feel I was missing some of the backstories on the characters and their history. Although I had skipped the first two books, I’m eager to backtrack and read them.
Detective Maria Miller is a member of a special task force dealing with supernatural elements in homicide cases. Maria is tasked with unraveling the mystery behind the deaths of several women, including two teenage girls, in a dilapidated New York City hotel. The character development and plot are gripping and cleverly crafted, which plenty of twists.
I liked the was the story effectively balances paranormal elements with a traditional mystery narrative. The eerie atmosphere of the Parker Hotel, combined with the suspenseful investigation, made it a quick read.
Overall, "The Girls on Floor 13" is a fast-paced, spooky read that will appeal to fans of both murder mysteries and paranormal fiction. Highly recommended for those looking for something a bit different to a usual crime thriller.
Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I received an ARC copy of this book through NetGalley and Storm Publishing; a huge thank you to them and Helen for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I am a huge Helen Phifer fan, and have devoured the detective Morgan series. I was so excited to have the opportunity to read and review The Girls on Floor 13. I didn’t realize this is also part of a series, so I read this without reading the first two. It’s strong enough to stand on its own, and I feel like I wasn’t missing any key plot points by skipping to the third installment. I do plan to double back and read the first two though now that I’ve gotten through this one.
Detective Maria Miller is part of a special task force who deals with supernatural elements to homicide cases. It’s up to Maria to figure out what has been killing ladies of the night and more recently two teenage girls in an old hotel in NYC. As always, the characters and plot development were phenomenal and gripping. I can’t speak highly enough of Phifer and her law enforcement murder mysteries, they are always fun and fast paced.

I love books with paranormal activity, so I was so excited to have a chance to read this. I didn't realize when starting that this book was part of a series. It read like a stand alone, but it sounds like the previous two books are great as well so I will be picking them up for sure! I felt like the balance of paranormal and mystery were balanced well and the writing style was great. Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read and review this book!

Twisty, dark, and gripping. Loved it
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

You have do e it again Helen....another fantastic book. It had me on edge though out . My favourite of the series so far. I look forward to reading more

I usually stick with thrillers and don't venture into the paranormal realm often, but I highly enjoyed this book. I haven't read any of the other books by this author, but I don't think that affected how engrossed I was by this story. The plot kept me hooked and I was turning pages long after I should have been asleep. Hotel vacations will definitely never be the same after this one.

The thirteenth floor of a run down NYC hotel is familiar with strange events. Is the hotel haunted? Is someone or something responsible for the death of two teenage girls? Frank and Marie are here to see if they can solve this mystery.
The mystery and the characters were quite fun in this book. I didn't know where it was going I haven't read the other novels in this series but I will check them out! This is so well written I can't resist.
Thank you to storm publishing and NetGalley for this enjoyable arc!

This was such a good book. I could not put It down and I read it in one sitting! I loved the characters and the storyline. I normally don't go for ghost stories, but I did really enjoy this one! I would definitely recommend this book.
