Set Your Eyes Higher is a 40 day devotional to help with your anxiety and encourage you to focus on God. The author takes her experiences and uses them to point you back to the gospel. I really enjoyed this devotional and think it would be really good for teen girls!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Lowe’s devotional is a pairing of devo and Bible study (sort of), focusing on achieving peace by fixing your focus on God. The setup is in a familiar cadence of daily reading, Bible verse, and prayer but there are a few aspects that allow it to stand apart from the other devotionals I’ve read. There are four sections, Identity + Insecurity, Wisdom + Humility, Capacity + Burnout, and Scarcity + Abundance, that set the theme for 10 days each. The start of each section has an introduction and a scripture that highlights the focus and tone.
The daily reading, usually an anecdote, is 3 pages with scripture weaved in, drawing the focus to God’s word, and ends with a prayer, a few verses, and points to additional reading in the Bible to expand on the topic. Lowe encourages the reader to actually read the Bible every day, take the approach of studying to get context, and open the line of communication with God by praying - she mentions that this can be something simple like, “God, thank you!” She is relatable, thorough, and makes the idea of setting your eyes on God feel easy.
This was a good devotional! Nothing groundbreaking but a solid choice for a quick devo in the morning.
Set Your Eyes Higher by Whitney Lowe is a devotional designed to help us to slow down our anxiety and to keep our focus on God. The truths put forth in this devotional will help you to rest in God when you focus on Him. Set Your Eyes Higher has the potential to be life changing if we allow it.
I received a Reader Copy from Zondervan/Thomas Nelson and Netgalley. Opinions are my own.
This was a much needed reset/devotional for me. As someone who is a lover of Jesus, but also struggles with anxiety and OCD I needed this refresh to remind me of the truths of our good Father. I will definitely be going back to this devotional again and again when I lose my sight of his face.
Thank you Whitney for allowing the Lord to steward you well.
Thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for the ARC in exchange for my unbiased opinion.
I must have this book on my shelf. I love it so much. The pages are colorful and exciting. From the images used to the uplifting message I get from each page. I highly recommend to anyone needing just a feel good re set in their life.
An amazing devotional. If you are starting your journey with Christ or you are a devoted Christian this is the devotion for you. It is such a down to earth viewpoint.
As a long-time follower of @scribbleddevos, I was excited to read Whitney's newest collection. While I loved her designs in this medium, I feel like I've gained more from her one-off devotionals on Instagram than this collection. It was a good read but I'd recommend it to someone who is earlier in their faith walk or a young adult.
A good book and reminder, but not much new. Good for a devotional. Very elementary but a good reminder.
First of all, thank You Netgalley for this ARC granted to me. I truly love when I find a book that caughts my attention not only for the content but also for the visual aesthetic and this 40-day devotional did exactly this. All designs that switches each chapter are extremely well made and appealing to modern vintage vibes. I also find the narrative texts well written and related to nowadays challenges and dilemas that We as christians use to deal in our day by day. More than approved and recommended!
