Anna and Abe fall for each other the moment that they meet. But they have a lot of obstacles to overcome. Including the fact that Anna already has a boyfriend. Sweet story.
I have never read an Amish romance book before. Overall it was very sweet and wholesome. I don’t know if I would be clamoring to get my hands on another one anytime soon but it wasn’t bad. Josh was my least favorite character and Tim grew on me over time. The story was predictable but I think if you read enough romances you’re not looking for something new and innovative, part of the comfort in reading romance IS the predictability and happily ever after.
God has a plan for your life
I loved, loved Anna Mary and Abe’s heartwarming and sweet Amish romance with a side of trusting God rather than fallible humans. The story was well written and included engaging dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and a captivating storyline. This one had me feeling all the feels - laughing, crying, swooning, cringing, teeth gritting, and cheering with the perfect balance of humor, heartwarming love, real life issues, trust, mistakes, past pain, and faith. Anna Mary lives in the Lancaster, PA Amish community. Her mother is twice widowed and suffers from depression so Anna Mary has a lot of responsibilities between work and her four younger sisters. She is currently being courted by Josh but it feels like Josh is spending too much time with Rachel. Abe lives in the Fort Plain, NY Amish community on a dairy farm and is currently visiting his cousin and uncle in Lancaster. He is attracted to Anna Mary from their first meeting but because she has a boyfriend and he lives far away it makes any potential relationship seem impossible. During the two weeks Abe visits, he and Anna Mary grow closer but despite their growing feelings he has to return home. To get to their HEA they’ll have to lean into their faith and trust that God has a way to fulfill their responsibilities while allowing them to also fulfill their hearts desire. I loved the way their path unfolded. And I am loving this series centered around the Green Valley Farmer’s Market and the God nudged helping of Mrs Vandenburg.
Missing Her Amish Boyfriend is a well written Amish romance. Good plot and character dynamics. I received an advance copy from Netgalley and the publisher. This is my unbiased review.
I loved this story.
I didn't like how Josh was through out the whole story think he should have been truthful he was my least favorite character.
I didn't like Tim at first but he grew on me through out the story.
I hope to hear more I spect some of the characters in this story could branch of in to another book.
Another in the author’s series centered around the Green Valley Farmer’s Market characters, we find old friends from previous books .The primary character of this book, is Anna Mary Zook, who has the responsibility of helping her depressed widowed mother, and caring for her 5 siblings, in addition to working a new job at the Green Valley Farmer’s Market. After having to come to terms with her boyfriend, Josh, becoming attracted to someone else, Anna Mary becomes friends with young man, Abe, who is visiting his uncle and cousin. Abe becomes attracted to her and helps while he can. He has to return to his home in New York in a couple of weeks, but when they realize their attraction, they realize there are many obstacles in the way of them developing more than a casual acquaintance.
There are many ups and downs in this book. This is an enjoyable book you do not want to put down until you complete it to see how and if relationships can develop as faith in God is a strong emphasis in this book, encouraged by Mrs. Vandenburg, who has been a primary source of encouragement in this series of books.
Thanks to Netgalley and Kensington/Zebra publishers for the advance copy of this book. The opinions expressed are my own.
A lighthearted Amish romance. The plot was predictable, as it generally is in romance novels, and the characters were well developed and relatable.
A fun way to while away an hour.
Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in return for my honest review.
This is such a cute read that sometimes I just want to laugh out loud.
I just simply can't put this book down because it's just too cute.
Certainly a lot of hotheads in this story!
I kept my fingers crossed the whole time that I was hoping a certain couple would be able to get together.
A few characters I wanted to knock heads together but in my opinion they're what made the story!
It was so good that I hated to see it end.
I love this quote from Abe's daed
"Sometimes the direction God asks us to walk isn't easy, but it's always worthwhile."
No, it's sure not but we'd all be better off if we did.
I liked Abe's daed. I love his wisdom and strong faith. He's a great example.
Depression isn't easy to deal with.
It can come in many forms.
I felt sorry for Anna Mary. It sure didn't feel fair at times but I really admired her love and patience.
I sure was happy to see Mrs. Vanderburgh back. She's my favorite character!
5 stars for a story that kept attention. I highly recommend it.
I did enjoy this lighthearted Amish romance. The plot was a little predictable at some points, but I didn't mind too much. The characters had much more depth than typical characters in books like this and I found them easy to relate to.
I have a bone to pick with Mrs. Vandenburg. It seems like nothing can happen without her being there or somehow orchestrating it. I understand the concept of someone being a tool or mouthpiece for the Lord, but this goes beyond that with Mrs. V "assisting" the Lord as she calls it. I would appreciate if the characters could be reminded to pray and trust God without Mrs. V always being the one to tell them to do so. Is she the only one with a moral compass in this community ??? And is anyone able to get married WITHOUT her assistance ???
Follow along as we head back to Green Valley Farmer’s Market for the excitement of matchmaking and friendships being made. I enjoyed how the author intertwined real life situations into the storyline from a widower dealing with depression to a young man who feels like he has to be condescending towards others to feel better about himself-such a heartwarming and touching story. You will definitely want to read the other books in the series so you can relate to the characters and follow along easier.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher. All words are my own.
In the last book Dating a Amish flirt we read Josh's side of the story. This book Missing her Amish boyfriend we read about Anne Mary. It was a really good book and was fun seeing it from both sides. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one. I was given this by netgalley and wasn't required ato leave a review. #netgalley #amishfiction #RachelJ.Good
I absolutely adore this series. Each book is a sweet treat to read and 𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗛 𝗕𝗢𝗬𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗗 was an enjoyable addition to this beloved series. Having read the previous books, I was already familiar with Mary Anna. To say I had mixed feelings about her character is to put it mildly but the author humanised her in a way that I ended up becoming her biggest fan. And then there was Abe. What an incredibly sweet and endearing young man he was. His heart was so big and so loving that I melted for him. I have never rooted so hard for a couple than I did these two. In the end, their happily ever after was genuine and in a word, perfect. I am giving 𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗛 𝗕𝗢𝗬𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗗 the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!
P.S. I cannot wait to see what is in store for Tim and Sarah.
Anna Mary and Abe’s story. When Anna Mary has issues with her boyfriend Josh, luckily Abe is nearby to help and the friendship and romance soon follows. Not living in the same area, and with issues of his dad needing his help on the dairy farm, and her mother who suffers from depression and relies on her two oldest daughters to handle the housework and the younger three daughters. Lots of conflict and issues preventing a forward decisions to benefit all, but of course eventually they get there. Liked this one and would highly recommend this book and series and author.
