Calder Country by Janet Dailey
Great continuation of the Calder Brand series. Some mystery, romance (more than one), a fun trip to that era. The ending was a bit abrupt. I would have liked to have some better explanation at the ending.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Tragic Romantic Witty Haunting Entertaining Action-packed Tear-jerker Unpredictable Happily Ever After Wonderful characters.
This is another great story by Janet Dailey. This story will transport the reader back in time and immerse you in a different era. Great plot, love the characters. I think the ending could have been draw out and "explained" a little more. But overall another fun read from a talented author.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book was really good! I thought that it ended a little sudden but it help me captivated for the whole book! I would love to visit that era for a brief time just to see how life really was! The way that he was protective over her as soon as he met her shows me how men of yesteryear actually were! Men today can never compare to an actual gentleman that wants to protect their woman at any cost! It wasn’t a normal Janet daily read for me but I’ve not read any of her work in awhile but it’s still definitely worth the read!
I'd personally stopped reading her for awhile, and I remembered why.
While the first books were great, as the "calder family" saga went on, i became more and more annoyed at how she doesn't know how to srap up a character from book to book. Suddenly the main character from the book before is dead. Sorry, but I like to invest in my characters, and she just doesn't seem know what to do with them, so she kills them off, often "off-screen" or some nonsense.
Good story as a stand alone, but she's lost the talent for writing a series IMHO.
Janet Dailey brings us another story of the Dollarhide family. We meet Mason Dollarhide as he returns home from his time in prison for smuggling bootleg liquor. Once home, he must find a way to get his mother to trust him enough to give him access to the Dollarhide money to start up a bigger and better version of what sent him to prison. He then meets pilot Ruby Weaver whose father ends up in prison after being caught in smuggling bootleg liquor. She must word with the Feds to keep her father out of working hard labor and to keep herself out of prison. As a result, Mason and Ruby end up working together often as she drops off shipments to him.
Janet Dailey brings us into the world of the mafia and the dangers of transporting bootleg liquor. This brings Ruby into Mason's world, but what happens when she intrigues him? Will Ruby ever be able to get herself and her father out of this business? What happens when Mason learns something that will affect both him and Ruby? Will they ever be able to get out, or is it too late for them?
I have received and read an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I would like to thank NetGalley and Kensington Publishing | Kensington for this privilege.
This story continues the Dollarhide’s .lives. Mason and Ruby’s, Joseph, the sheriff and Brittas. How their lives cross and how they lived and loved. It also tells how the survived in a land were the Calders were kings.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you for allowing me to review

This was really good. I love the books by Janet Dailey and how they are continuing her legacy. I loved this one because you couldn't tell it was a historical romance. I think the ending could have been a little better. All in all it was good. I'm grateful that netgalley and the publishers let me read this in exchange for an honest review.
I was enjoying this book until the end. The way it ended, it seemed incomplete. That is why I gave it two stars. Hopefully, if there is another book it will pick up with the dream.
