I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.
I love Harley Laroux, and Soul of a Witch is one of my favorite series! Everly's transformation from a meek woman to a strong contender and Callum's support in that journey is wrapped in one sexy bow. A great mix of dark romance and suspense!
Callum and Everly were everything. The way he was obsessed with her or her own character growth!
I am pretty sad that this series ended and wished for more, but I am still pretty happy.
A very very very good dark romance.
ARC via Netgalley. Thanks for sending me a copy! :)
Harley Laroux does romance/smut perfectly for me. Y'all. THERE'S AN ACTUAL PLOT! And it's compelling!!! This whole trilogy was done beautifully and it was extremely entertaining. I don't say this lightly because I don't like romance much at all. Monster romances are the only ones that really interest me due to the room for creativity and just seeing what an author will do. Harley delivered, devoured, and served hot demon men and mostly badass women with intersecting plotlines and ties that keep you engaged with all the characters. Not just the main couple in a given book.
She weaves fantasy, dark romance, and erotic horror in a phenomenal blend that leaves me wanting more books in this world and I would buy them in a heartbeat. It's very well developed, especially when she talks about Hell. We learn more about that realm with each book and each demon hottie who explains what he loves about it and things he misses or wants to show his woman. It's interesting seeing the parallels between our world and Hell. It wasn't what I was expecting even though that's more of a secondary setting.
As for Everly and Callum, I really enjoyed their dynamic and it was especially funny seeing him jealous of her librarian friend. These two went through a lot together and I felt like she did a decent job of showing how their partnership turned deal, turned lust, turned to love. It has a good progression compared to other dark romance series.
There is also the spice, I don't really review stuff like that because honestly, everyone's tastes are different and what more can I say other than I enjoyed most of it. Not everything is for everybody and if you have specific icks, then be sure to check trigger warnings for this whole series. However, this book has a good balance of smut and plot which is why I actually really enjoy this series. It was hot.
While this book has a lot going for it, it wasn't for me. Everly discovers that she is more powerful than she thought. Callum helps her discover her powers and protects her while she figures things out. The spice is fun. I thought the overall big plot had potential but it was a bit of a letdown. I also felt like a lot of the things that happened were underwhelming. (Won't go into details because spoilers) If you don't think about it too hard, I think it would be pretty enjoyable, just not for me.
Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the ARC.
So glad to see this series getting hype! I love the world-building and the plotting. It's well-balanced with the steamy romance. Each installment just gets better and better as the world is built upon. Definitely one of my favorite dark romantasy series. Highly recommend!

I’m so sad I didn’t click with this one. I just was so bored 😭 It was so repetitive.
Everly practices magic
Runs into some monster
She and Callum have sex
She practices more magic
Runs into another monster
They have sex
More practicing
More monsters
More sex
And it just kept going on and on.
Maybe at some point I’ll pick this back up and finish it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington for the review copy
There were a lot of things that made this book good, then there’s the other half where things started slowing down. I loved the plot and both characters and their character development but halfway the story started getting slow and personally this book probably could’ve been a hundred pages less.
Captivating, immersive, great world building, spicy and so magical! I really enjoyed it and highly recommend
This entire series has its claws dug so deeply in me, and I cannot began to describe how much I loved book three. This book is just absolute magic and perfection. Like all the other books Harley has written, it's no shock how much I enjoyed this book and found myself loving the dynamic between our main characters.
Everly and Callum just make my heart sing, because they are so utterly adorable in this book and within the entire series really. I found myself falling more in love with their love the more I was reading it, they are literally everything. To sell my soul to them, ugh!
Thank you NetGalley for an eARC!
I've been waiting for the conclusion of this series and the finale did not disappoint!
Spoilers and Profanity Ahead
.... first of all ghost grandma probably my favorite side character in the book.
So happy for Everly finally coming into her witch power, about time this girl gets her confidence and vengeance, but it's for the greater good you know saving humanity.
Absolutely loved the way Harley spun this series with getting the whole story from the 3 different points of view and their parts on defeating the Hadleigh's cult and the cursed old god. I know the synopsis says you can read each story in whatever order but really think you should do chronologically or if you're feeling extra adventurous a tridem read. As readers new to the story and world Harley has created, we are all Rae fans of the paranormal and spooky but when faced with a real demon and cult after us because apparently, we are supposed to be a sacrifice...yeah, we are going to have questions and make bad choices, because wtf did we get ourselves into.
Then with book 2 with Juniper know we are caught up in all the sketchy shit they Hadleigh's are bringing not just into this quaint small town, but also the rest of the world, we are pissed, and ready fuck shit up. Then you find out about the utter traitor Juniper's childhood bestie was and how her whole family got the town and Juniper's family to think she is mentally insane and lock her up in a nuthouse to then murder/sacrifice her brother. Her blood lust is justified and personally support women's right and wrongs!!
Finally book 3. After our thirst for murder and destroying the Hadleigh family is satisfied, guess we kind of do need to save the world. Enter Everly, bastard, neglected, and abused daughter of Hadleigh clan. BUT also, and most importantly she is from a badass line of powerful witches. So yeah, time for her to grow a spine, harness her magic, end this mine god, and save the world!
Plus, all 3 books we get foul mouthed creatures from Hell who are the perfect partners, who deliver multiple orgasm, and are obsessed with our heroines!!
We finally are getting Callum and Everly Hadleigh's story! I found myself so emotional because I am not ready to say farewell to the characters and the series, but Harley Laroux did an absolutely fantastic job with the entire series.
Callum is an Archdemon and the fierce protectiveness he exudes is truly swoonworthy. I believed that no one could be as perfect as my love, Leon. But watching the way that Callum was and getting to be in his mind. OOF just push me over.
Everly is the family witch and the outcast daughter of Kent Hadleigh. We have gotten glimpses of her and so finally getting to know her was much craved.
This is the conclusion to the overarching plot of the Cult and the God in the mines. For full impact, you really should start at the beginning. I loved this so much! What a way to end it.
4/5 - Thank you NetGalley and Kensington's for the free ebook!
This was genuinely a very solid read! This was the second book I have read from Harley and I was not disappointed. One of the things I thought about frequently throughout was how smart it was to make a trilogy where each book is the experiences of the different couples in the same span of time. I'm sure there are other series' that have done this, but this is the first I have read and I appreciate the layers it adds to the story. It allows for it and the characters to be more fully developed and understood. The story is good and still remained interesting to me even if each book is about the same thing.
My biggest gripe with this book was by far the pacing. Some scenes just didn't get the room to breath they needed to be the best they could be. There was always a subtle feeling of rushing to me. I think I wanted more descriptive fluff? Or perhaps more accurate descriptions? It is hard to pin point for me, honestly. Maybe some more time put into understanding the actions being written would help improve the accuracy of the scene descriptions. The better the understanding, the more that is conveyed in the story/writing, and the less rushed it would seem, I think. Small details are where the money is at for me.
In addition to scenes not getting enough time, I felt that the characters developed too quickly (ex. Everly's powers, her character developments in the beginning, the relationship, etc.) which added to the overall rushed feeling of the book. I personally feel that giving more time and description shows dedication to the overall development.
Everly? Solid character. She did not annoy the crap out of me and I appreciated her confidence arc. No complaints. Callum? Not a complaint so much as a character preference. In his entrance, he is so unhinged in a whimsical kind of way that I really enjoyed. Like a big cat excited to play that doesn't know its power - I think that was the description! This gets dialed down REAL quick and, honestly, I wish it hadn't been. I wanted him to stay cooky. He was still a great character and exists for Everly (we love a hard-core simp), but leaning more into the "immortal alive so long he is a little crazy" trope would have been stellar.
Neither of them (MC's) are super deep, complex, or hard to understand, but not so much so that it damages the integrity of their characters. They have the perfect amount of depth for this story!
Overall, I had a fun time. I haven't read the second book, but I will get on it ASAP!
Everly, a young woman imprisoned by her faith, and Callum, an ancient demon burdened by solitude, embark on a journey that challenges their beliefs and threatens their very existence. The novel delves into the conflict between religious dogma and the allure of forbidden magic. Everly, raised in a strict religious sect, has always suppressed her innate powers. When she encounters a mysterious house and the ancient demon within, she is forced to confront her true nature and the potential of her magic. The relationship between Everly and Callum is both intense and heart-wrenching. As they navigate the dangerous path ahead, their connection deepens, forcing them to confront their own vulnerabilities and the sacrifices they are willing to make for each other.
Strengths:
* Unforgettable characters with compelling arcs
* Intricate world-building that immerses readers
* Thrilling plot with high stakes
* A poignant exploration of love, sacrifice, and the search for identity
Weaknesses:
* Some aspects of the world-building could have been further developed
* The pacing can feel a bit slow at times
Overall, I think this was a great read and is a book I highly recommend!
Ahhh the souls troilogy? This will be forever in my heart!! I truly enjoyed and loved this story! It has magic , demons , love and spice. I loved how this book developed the story so well. It is my favorite dark series and I think nothing can compare to this book! Great job Harley!!!
“Soul of the Witch” finally brings Callum and Everly together in a spellbinding conclusion to a series that’s been a rollercoaster of dark romance. From meeting Everly in the first book to encountering Callum in the second, readers have been itching for this moment. While it’s technically a standalone, trust me, you’ll want to devour the whole series in order to fully appreciate the tangled web of plots and character arcs.
The ending ties up loose ends but leaves you feeling a bit nostalgic, like saying goodbye to old friends. Just a heads up, though, this one dives deep into some dark themes and kinks, so proceed with caution.
For fans of fantasy romance with a dark edge, “Soul of the Witch” is a must-read. Demons, witches, passion, danger – it’s all here in a whirlwind of magic and desire. Get ready to be swept away on a journey that’ll leave you craving more
After reading the first book, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on another and this third novel did not disappoint! Callum had me swooning so hard throughout, Everly’s evolution was magnificent, and the SPICE was *chefs kiss*. Will definitely be recommending to my dark romance buddies!
Soul of a Witch by Harley Laroux was a great way to finish the Souls Trilogy!! I thought this final installment was done so well. The whole series takes place over the same time frame, and Harley did a great job at overlap between the three books, and the characters in which those books follow. A Soul of a Witch was so steamy and spicy, which I am always here for. I loved Callum and Everly was leads and am so glad they were the last pair to wrap up this series! I am so here for the sexual tension and care between these 2. I thought the plot was well done and I was not disappointed with the final show down between Everly, Callum, and the God. I would recommend to anyone who has read the first 2 books, people who love paranormal spice, or creepy/horror reads.
Spice rating: 4.5/5
Overall: 9/10
Title: Soul of a Witch by Harley Laroux
4.5 Stars
Soul of a Witch is book 3 in the Souls Trilogy
Everly discovers a hidden source of magic and meets a powerful demon who promises to unlock her potential. Meanwhile, Callum, a solitary figure for two millennia, finally finds the witch he's been seeking. Together, they face a world-altering choice that could cost them everything.
I'm completely enamoured with this series! The blend of kinks, fantasy, and spice is just irresistible. Everly and Callum's dynamic steals the show in this trilogy, and I couldn't get enough of their story.
What started as insta-love evolved into something deep and profound, with their chemistry reaching explosive levels. Witnessing Everly's incredible character growth, from a timid witch to a powerful Mistress, was truly phenomenal.
I was so invested in their journey that I wasn't ready for the series to end! Absolutely love this author and her writing! Can’t wait to read more books by her.
Thank you to The Publisher Kensington Publishing | Kensington, The Author Harley Laroux & NetGalley for an advanced reader copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest review.
Soul of a Witch by Harley Laroux is book three in the Souls Trilogy. This is dark romance at its finest…with a side of kink…
Everly (FMC)⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Witch, raised in an extreme religious upbringing
Callum (MMC)⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Demon, hundreds of years old, wants to please his Mistress 🥵
Everly: “This is all madness.”
Callum: “Then we’ll be mad together.”
I loved that Callum was completely devoted to her but did not coddle her with her magic training. I did not like that Everly was typecast as a virgin but put into several sexual situations that were very advanced for the FMC within the first few times they were together sexually, at least he gave her a safe word?? 🤷♀️
Overall score:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
