Lucy Score has done it again! Riley, Nick and the gang trying to save Riley’s horrible ex-husband but he has so many enemies it’s comical. Loving the relationship that grew between Riley and Nick. Loved the series before and love it even more now!

The Body in the Backyard is another great Riley Thorn adventure! I absolutely love this series, from the romance between Riley and Nick to the hijinks of their geriatric neighbors. These are such a fun, fast read. You do not need to read the entire series, but I would highly recommend it so you can fully enjoy getting to know these characters as they solve mysteries. I can’t wait for the next novel!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bloom Books for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Riley Thorn, Nick Santiago and their elderly group of misfits are back and on the case in the 4th book of the series- The Body in the Backyard. While the case is closed by the end of the book- this series does contain the same MCs and it builds up on itself so I think it's important to read in order for the best enjoyment.
3.5 ⭐
The Body in the Backyard is filled with all the fun and quirky humor that I love from Lucy Score while also having this kind of fun suspense as Santiago Investigations try to figure out all the pieces of the mystery surrounding none other than Riley's ex- Griffin Gentry- and figuring out who is out to kill him. And naturally- the list is quite extensive.
This book is a fun little escape- it's got all these pops of humor and despite the fact that they are investigating a death threat the story is light and entertaining. Unlike many of Lucy's other books the focus feels like it isn't really on Riley and Nick as a couple. Sure there are pieces of it as they try, and fail, to have romantic times together in between their investigations and Nick's over the top desire and attempts at keeping Riley out of harms way as his love language. But I felt like we were kind of missing more of that in-depth dive into their budding relationship. I was actually surprised a bit at just how little time has passed over the course of this series- as they mention several times that Riley and Nick have only been together for 4 months.
But overall the story is entertaining. The group of elderly sidekicks always bring laughs and while I sometimes was stuck between being entertained or annoyed with Griffin or his fiance Bella because their personalities were so over the top at times I still read the story in one sitting. I adore the surprise that Nick was able to pull off and I can't wait to see where all the tensions between Jasmine and Weber go!

Thank you to Netgalley, Sourcebooks/Bloom Books, and to Lucy Score for this arc!!
I never want this series to end! I want to be reading about Riley and Nick until they’re old and grey, and have dimpled grandchildren that they’re chasing around amongst all of the chaos that is still very much their lives. Please, Lucy Score, never stop writing these characters that cause such lovable mayhem!!! I want to continue to be wrong about who the killers are. (Literally, every time!) I NEED to know Riley’s middle name. Also, the hinting at Riley’s nieces’ psychic abilities?? This series is so special to me, and I’m so grateful to have been given the opportunity to read it. I promise to continue to lovingly force everyone I know to read it.

The Body in the Backyard is classic Lucy Score a story filled with laughter chaos a bit of drama and mystery with a fun quirky cast of likeable characters that keeps you engrossed and engaged from the beginning to the end.

Lucy Score is one of my favourite authors.

notttt a big fan of this series :( i feel at this point i have given it a fair shot, but this gives like 90s or 2000s drama tv and maybe that is perfectly up someone else’s alley! for now, i will recommend if you liked buffy

I am absolutely hooked on the Riley Thorn series! As soon as I read the first book, I had to gobble up the rest of the series. The Body in the Backyard had everything I love- a hilarious cast of characters, the perfect whodunnit moments, and chaotic psychic messages from beyond! I hope Lucy Score never stops writing stories for Riley Thorn and her crazy loveable friends.

Another fun installment in the Riley Thorn series. Lots of laughs, a mystery to solve, a goofy dog, and plenty of shenanigans. This is the fourth book in the series, and I do recomend reading the entire series to understand context and characters, but that's certainly no hardhip as each book has been delightful.
Riley and Nick are dealing with house repairs, surprise elderly roommates, and business financial issues when her slimy ex-husband wants to hire them claiming someone is trying to kill him. The problem is everyone hates him so everyone is a suspect.
I love how we get to see both Riley and Nick's POV, particularly Nick. His competitive streak is truly unreal and he even knows this about himself, which make it funnier. I love his interactions with Gabe and trying to come up with new nicknames for him (and often failing miserably).
If you like fun mysteries with some action and lots of humor then this is the series for you.

Third in the series, Riley and Nick are hired to protect her ex? Griffin from someone who is trying to kill him. The usual cast of characters is around to help with the case.

The Body in the Backyard by Lucy Score is once again an instant favorite of mine. I love Lucy's writing style and ability to keep it light and fun. This is a great summertime read with romance, mystery and of course a great deal of wit and sarcasm.
This time, Riley and Nick find themselves protecting none other than Riley's self-absorbed ex-husband Griffin Gentry whose life is being threatened by someone other than Nick! After finding a dead body in the backyard, it becomes clear that the threat may actually be real and not just in Griffin's extra large head. As they progress through the investigation, it becomes clear that pretty much anyone who knows Griffin could be the killer. Can they find the killer before karma finally stops Griffin.
This is just plain fun, The story is continuing, the rag tag group of seniors is still making themselves at home in Riley and Nick's and managing to keep them corralled is still a struggle. While I am sometimes finding the story to be going in circles now that we are on book 4, I am still very much enjoying all the antics along the way. I am definitely keeping my eyes open for the next book in the series :)
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for this advanced eBook copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

I must tell you what happened when I brought my kindle with me to the doctor’s appointment. I decided to read while waiting in my doctor’s office for my appointment. I open my kindle to this book. I start to read and everything happened from then on. People were staring at me. People were pointing. I missed my appointment.
You see I was so engrossed in this book that I didn’t realize I was literally laughing out loud and had tears( happy ones) rolling down my cheeks. I didn’t even hear the nurse call my name. I sat in that chair for 45 minutes. We’ll shortened version…I changed doctors and I was asked by three women what I was reading so now you have three new followers lol

Every time I read a Riley Thorn book I swear I fall more in love with the characters. It’s always a wild ride and I’m so here for it.
Riley and Nick (and Mrs. Penny, Gabe, Burt, and company) take on the case for Griffin, Riley’s ex husband. And keeping his alive is a job in itself. It seems like everyone in town has a reason to want to off Griffin… and that’s totally believable. His is hilariously self absorbed and plays a huge part. But him and Bella are amazing comic relief.
The side characters flesh out the book so well and paint such a vivid picture. I love the houseful of geriatric investigators who cause chaos wherever they go. It’s also so much fun to see Riley and nicks relationship progress. Both of them have wild families but they both care about them so much and it really comes through here.
Here’s to hoping that Jasmine and Weber get their own book in the future too. I can’t get enough of their banter.

This is my first of this series and I went in blind. It was funny. I really enjoyed this funny masterpiece of a mystery. I laughed a lot. The banter, the scenes - good times. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I don’t know how a series can get funnier and better each book but Riley Thorn can! “Body in the Backyard “ by Lucy Score will have you laughing out. The crew of characters are all back in their glory. This story is centered around Riley’s self absorbed ex-husband and who is trying to kill him. The high jinx are great! I can’t wait for the next in the series. Please tell me there will be another one! Thank you to Net Galley and Bloom books for this advance read. Pre-order this one at your local bookstore. It comes out July 16th.

I am so excited for the next adventure of Riley Thorn and Nick Santiago. This is a fabulous series. Lucy Score knows how to mix a bit of mystery, a dab of paranormal, a lot of laughs, and top it off with a dash of romance. I love this series. It's always a bonus to witness Griffin get what he deserves. I look forward to many more adventures of Riley, Nick, and the gang.

Another great one by Lucy Score. This series has got to be a favorite of mine. I don’t know how many times I laugh through out it & I cannot wait for the next one! needs to happen sooner rather then later! I love goofy elderly in books & Nick - Riley’s family’s are great I don’t want to say too much for spoilers. Read it and see

Omg this freakin book (and series). My husband asked if I was okay mentally because I was lauhging my ass off reading it. It’s ridiculous in the best possible way. The dynamic between psychic Riley and her private eye bf Nick (who is dreamy AF btw), the sleuthing, the house of octogenarians now living with them, and the absolute tool of an ex-husband Griffin- it’s all comedic gold. The antics of the entire cast of characters will legit have you cackling.
I think this is a completely underrated series and I love that veers from what Lucy Score normally writes. Don’t get me wrong, I love pretty much everything she puts out, but this just hits different. It’s pure, unadulterated chaos at all times but it works for well and you won’t be able to stop reading. It would truly be an amazing tv show (ahem, Lucy). I hope that this wasn’t the end of this series, but if it was I think The Body in The Backyard rounded this all up nicely.

This series is just a FUN, CHAOTIC read, but in the best way. It can’t be taken too seriously and you just have to enjoy the ride. Nick, Riley, and their octogenarian crew crack me up. In book four the crew is hired by Riley’s vapid as air ex-husband- and my god such unaware individuals drive me crazy but crack me up with everyone’s reactions. There’s more interpersonal changes happening and some growth, but the same amount of comedic relief.

I absolutely adore this series!! Solid 5 stars! Riley, Nick and the gang are absolutely delightful and you will be thoroughly entertained from start to finish!
