I was so excited to receive an advanced reader copy from NetGalley! This is the fourth book in the Riley Thorn series set be released in July. The Body in the Backyard follows Nick and Riley on another adventure as they try to find out who is after Riley’s ex husband, Griffin. Within this book, we get a better a glimpse into other relationships like Gabe and Wanders or the intense tension between Jasmine and Webber.
I really did enjoy this book as it was light hearted and had some moments of comedic relief. It was a little slow in certain parts of the book and could’ve been a little shorter, but it was an overall good read. I really hope going into the next book we do get more of a glimpse into the family life of Nick and Riley. I enjoy those moments where we get to see why they are the way that they are! It definitely happened in a way that stays true to who they are as a couple. I am excited to see how their adventures continue in the next installment!

Riley Thorn and Nick Santiago are the perfect duo and back with their fourth book in the series, “The body in the backyard”.
This time we see the couple working for Riley’s ex husband who is convinced that somebody is out to kill him.
We know from previous books that the man is a total douche, hilariously unaware of how pretentious and full of himself he really is.
As always there is a whole cast of quirky characters, lots of action, adventure, spirit guides and many suspects with motives to kill.
If you haven’t yet, do yourself a favour and pick up this series! It will leave you in fits of giggles.
Thank you to sourcebooks bloom books, Lucy score and NetGalley for the EARC!
Publish date; July 16th

I can NEVER get enough of this series. It has turned my world upside down and I am clawing at the bars of my enclosure for the next one.

This is the fourth book in the Riley Thorn series by Lucy Score and it shows. While I enjoy the premise and the hilarious side characters the plots have gotten quite repetitive. It's starting to feel like you're watching one of those cop drama shows on TV where the storylines don't matter you are just watching because enjoy the lead characters. One of the big issues also was that most of the book centered on griffin gentry who is unrealistically the worst, most annoying person on the planet but yet completely obviously. His scenes were painful to read. But the biggest disappointment is how much the romance has taken a back seat. I love Riley and Nick and wish they got to spend more time together connecting especially after the last book when he spent so much of it neglecting her. I felt like the engagement was just there to add something to their relationship but felt forced.

This book was delightful, as all the books in this series have been. I love the repartee between Nick and Riley. The side characters are so funny, especially Mrs Penny. I really hope we get many more books in the series.

YES! Thank you NetGalley, Sourcebooks Bloom Books, and Lucy Score for this copy of The Body in the Backyard! I literally screamed when the email came through for this book. Just like the others in this series, Bloom Books and Lucy Score have crushed the cover. the colors for each book are vibrant and beautiful! I was drawn into this series and I love how they all will bring a pop of color physically on my self. The characters throughout the Riley Thorn series are lovable from the start. Kindhearted Nick will always be my favorite. This book picks up right where the last book, The Blast From the Past, ended. If you have not picked up this series yet, I highly recommend diving into the world of Riley Thorn! You will laugh, cry, and laugh some more. Thank you again for this advanced copy. ❤️

Riley Thorn never disappoints. This is a fun read, it’s a little ridiculous but that’s what makes it fun and enjoyable.

This was a fun continuation of the series. A romance murder mystery is a fun mix up for both genres. I laughed a lot and enjoyed the mystery! The ending was great!

I’m so glad Lucy Score decided to continue this series. The fourth book picks up immediately after the events of “Blast from the Past.” In this latest adventure, Riley’s annoying ex-husband is being targeted by an unknown assailant and wants her help. The problem is, how do you protect someone everyone wants to kill?

The Body In The Backyard is another fun installment of the Riley Thorn series. The Romcom Murder Mystery takes a surprising turn when beginner psychic Riley Thorn and her hot Private Investigator boyfriend Nick grudgingly take on her narcissistic nitwit ex-husband as a client. The long list of suspects and their motives are cleverly weaved into the story. All the cast of characters that we absolutely loved from the previous books hilariously play important roles in this book (Mrs Penny and Riley’s former senior citizen roommates along with Gabe, Josie, Brian, family members and friends all are in this book too). One of my favorite parts of this book is when Riley and Nick babysit their neices as it was a perfect mix of sweetness and humor when a man turns into a teddybear while spoiling four little girls and his girlfriend. The whodunit reveal was fun and I did not see it coming and the ending was great!
I love this series as it provides a light hearted murder mystery with lots of comedy, some swoon and romance and fantastic side characters that are scene stealers! The Riley Thorn series is a feel good, laugh out loud, comfort read that will just make you feel happy. I hope there are many more Riley Thorn books in this series.
Thanks to Net Galley and Sourcebooks Bloom Books for an ARC.

This is such a fantastic series. I love love love these characters. Great story and so fun to read. Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

The Body in the Backyard is another completely bonkers adventure in the life of psychic Riley Thorn and her ‘hot’ boyfriend private investigator Nick Santiago.
Riley’s ex husband a truly revolting characters has had death threats and wants Riley and Nick to protect him and find out who is out to kill him, there are many suspects. Not taking it at all seriously until a dead body turns up Nick and Riley with their elderly neighbours start to investigate.
Slapstick comedy moments abound which leads to amusing moments and some great dialogue.
I love the relationship between Riley and Nick and whilst this is an enjoyable romp I have to admit to finding myself really frustrated with the elderly neighbours , they are complete caricatures that I find annoying with their selfish actions that they are never taken to task for.
An enjoyable read, though this is not my favourite series from this talented writer.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

Here we have the latest installment of the Riley Thorn series. It has no less quirk then the other 3 and no less sweet moments with out favorite PI.
In this book we truly get to see how much a jerk Griffin is, and all I can say is how in the heck did Riley ever fall for a guy like that. Thank all that is good in the world that Nick came into the picture because him and Riley are perfect together.
We start out with Griffin coming to Riley and Nick asking for help as someone is trying to kill him. Nick reluctantly takes the case, and is basically strong armed by Penny and Riley. While pursuing the case, not only do we find out how much of a trash person Griffin is, but also that Nick is ready to take the next step with Riley. It is so sweet to have watched him turn from a commitment adverse player to someone ready to purpose after only 4 months.
While investigating and finding a crazy amount of suspects, our rag tag group consisting of the elderly, and of course Webber, find the person responsible and we get the most spontaneous proposal as well.
I already know that the next book will be some sort of body or mystery while Riley and Nick are trying to plan their wedding. Also hoping Jasmine and Webber finally give into their chemistry in the next book because we were given crumbs in this one.
I really enjoyed this book and you will to if you are in the mood for a quirky romystery comedy!
Thank you to Bloom and Lucy Score for an eARC of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was so excited to get a copy of this book from NetGalley! I love the Riley Thorn series so much and I wish more people knew about it.
This is the 4th installment in this series, releasing July 16th.
This book started a bit slow for me. We're following an investigation into someone going after Riley's ex-husband (who is a total d-bag). He annoyed me so much. The gang is all present in this one and I HOPE for a Jasmine and Kellen spin off...I am begging Lucy Score!!!
No spoliers but the way this ended was so good.
I just have to shout out Nicks character because I truly just love him so much. I love the relationship he has with Riley and the way the communicate with each other. It's just so fun and playful!
Highly recommend this series!

“ This is us. Messy. Complicated. Standing in the middle of yet another crime scene together.”
Riley Thorn is back and better than ever!
This is book 4 in the series, and we get more Riley and more Nick and more of their band of senior citizens, all of them are funnier than ever.
Nick is hired by Griffin, that’s right Riley’s ex-husband, to find out who is trying to kill him. Or more likely who isn’t trying to kill him because apparently everybody is trying to kill him.
Buckle in for laughs, fun, more mischief and more Riley and Nick!

The motliest of crews returns and never a dull moment as they take on threats to the oblivious, narcissistic little Cheeto they can't seem to get away from. Action, shootouts, and very funny moments abound! Definitely a fun read.

A great addition to the Riley Thorn world! There's a lot going on in this book so if you need to, brush up on books 1-3! There's a lot of fun, craziness, and drama with the PI business in this book, you won't want to put it down because you'll want to know the "who done it!" This book is light on the romance, but I loved that it was more about Nick realizing how much and what he feels for Riley and that's what got me in my feels!

I absolutely love this series!! The jokes, funniness, and crazy shenanigans from these characters never get old. I made the mistake of reading this while working out on my elliptical. Let's just say I had to pause several times in order to catch my breath from laughing so hard. In book four, Riley and Nick, with the help of their team and elderly cohorts, investigate who is trying to kill her Oompa-Loompa orange, narcissistic weasel of an ex-husband, Griffin Gentry. The list of suspects is numerous and grows even longer when they meet the GGS group. No spoilers, but that was a great addition. I think this may be my favorite of the series. Probably because of how I feel about Gentry and seeing him get knocked down to size was glorious. Still don't know Riley's middle name, but that's ok. It'll keep me guessing until the next book comes out. I'm keeping my fingers crossed to not have to wait too long. I can't rave about these books enough! They are a MUST READ in my opinion! I highly recommend them!
Thank you to the author, SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books, and NetGalley for granting me digital access in exchange for my honest review!

While I did not do my normal rereads of the series before starting The Body in the Backyard, I remembered enough of the last one to not be confused as this one just picked up right where The Blast From The Past left off.
This mystery centered around Griffin Gentry, Riley's ex-husband. Let me just say that I would have left him so long ago if I had been Riley. I don't know what she ever saw in him. Poor Nick, having to deal with Griffin and having to keep him alive.
The crew is up to their normal hi-jinks. I think I love Mrs Penny even more after this one. Josie is amazing as usual.
If you love laugh out loud romantic comedy with a mystery thrown in, over the top narcissists that Riley and Nick must keep alive (even when they want to kill their client themselves), Thin Man and Gilligan's Island allusions, lots of red herrings, and amazing banter both between Riley and Nick and between Jasmine (“I wouldn’t sleep with him if he needed an org*sm to live”) and Kellen, you're going to want to get your hands on this one.
Thanks to Bloom Books and Net Galley for the opportunity to read the ARC. Thanks to Lucy Score for continuing this series. I can't wait to read more about Riley and Nick.

Riley and Nick are back, and unfortunately need to help out her ex-husband. What follows is classic Riley with laughs, romance, meddling elderly roommates, and Burt the dog eating things he really shouldn't. Out of all the books Lucy has put out, the Riley Thorn series is my favorite. I just love how funny the series is, and it's such a nice break from the world. Yes, someone normally dies but it's more like humorous sitcom deaths, and less Law & Order deaths.
And Nick. I could write an entire paper dedicated to this man. I love the way he loves Riley. That he accepts her psychic abilities, has no problem with her weird family, and has the patience of a Saint when dealing with her elderly roommates. He's the first person to defend her against his own mother, he'd rather himself get injured then even consider harm coming to her. And I'll never get tired of the little war between Nick and Gabe. It's hilarious and I'm here for it.
If you're looking for something a little different, and a series that follows the same adorable couple, then be sure to check out Riley Thorn! And if you haven't read the previous books, get on it! You won't be disappointed. Just keep in mind this isn't a super spicy series. If you've read previous books by Lucy, this is on the lower end of the spice scale.
