Another fun Riley Thorn read! I genuinely enjoy reading this book. Thank you NetGalley! I enjoyed the characters, adventure, and all the suspects!

Maybe my least fav in the series to date, beause Griffin Gentry drives me up the wall. But I love these characters and it's always a fun, ridiculous adventure.

"The Body in the Backyard" is part of the Riley Thorn series by Lucy Score and as such it is recommended to actually start from the beginning. It will make more sense how some of the character constellations are setup and also why certain things are the way they are.
We meet Riley and Nick and their whirlwind romance, how they try to navigate the chaos in their home, with a couple of elderly room mates as well as a new investigation to no other than Rileys ex-husband, who gets death threads.
It would make sense to know the previous books, because sometimes I felt a little bit lost, but in some ways this chaos was also charming.
Maybe because I didn't know the previous books, I didn't really feel the chemistry between Riley and Nick, as their relationship is already established. Somehow also the paranormal aspect was a little bit short or I would have liked some more information how these visions work that Riley is having. But it could also be, that she is still developing this skill, and as a reader we are taking with her on the journey.
The side characters, especially the elders, were a little bit over the top, but that also was quite charming and brought humor to the book.
As Lucy wrote in the authors note/acknowledgment, this book is intended to be a "pallat cleaner", so the book doesn't take itself so seriously, so readers should/could tread it the same. And I think this sums it also up quite perfectly.

A little bit over the top, but charming.

Thank you very much to Bloom Books and NetGalley for an advanced reading copy of the book.

Getting the ARC of this book was the highlight of my year! I am so in love with the entire Riley Thorn series and have been dying for book four for about two years now and let me tell you this did not disappoint!!! The Body in the Backyard had that signature Riley Thorn magic that doesn't let you put this book down. I was hooked from page one and spent the whole time either laughing out loud or swooning over Nick Santiago.

If you enjoy “Dial A For Aunties” then you’ll love this highly entertaining series! All four of these books have been quirky, fast paced, and fun. Nick and Riley are a perfect duo and play off each other really well. The surrounding cast of characters are a good blend of goofy, fun, well-intended, chaotic messes—and I mean that in the best way possible.

I hope we get another book so we can finally learn Riley’s middle name, see if Webber and Jasmine actually hit it off, and maybe see some wedding planning?? But if we don’t, this one does leave things in a good place.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is one of my favorite series!
Every page has me either laughing out loud or smiling at all the shenanigans Riley and her elderly roommates get into. I love the chemistry between Riley and Nick, and watching them work together to solve this case... Even though this one involves her icky ex-husband Griffen who is completely oblivious to why someone would want him dead. Although to everyone else it seems like the list of who actually likes him would be shorter. The case is full of twists and turns and going along with Riley and Nick as they try and figure out which of the looong list suspects would want Griffen dead was so much fun. The story is fast-paced and there is never a dull moment. Once I started it. I couldn't put it down.

I can't wait to see what's in store for Riley and Nick in the next book!!!!!

Lucy Score will never fail to keep me entertained and with a good laugh. This series is highly addicting like a mystery series you can't stop yourself from binging. Nick and Riley are just as cute as ever and their dynamic just keeps getting better. They are the perfect sunshine and grumpy duo. The brooding protective hero and the sunshine who gets herself into things and wacky situations and here comes Nick being the protective man he is. I love the side characters and the crazy situations that happen within the book. It's a riot and a blast. truly a must read if you love mystery, fun and. romance.

I love this series so much! Each book is such a fun one, shenanigans all over with everybody, and with the perfect sprinkles of romance between Riley and Nick and their relationship. This book had a great mystery plot that kept me guessing until the end, filled with lots of crazy moments you can expect by now from a Riley Thorn book.

The long-awaited fourth Riley Thorn book, and the capers of Riley, Nick, Gabe, and the senior citizens are here to amuse us once again!

I enjoyed heading back into this exciting, adventurous world, with a little bit of romance, a whole lot of shenanigans, and the mystery surrounding who was after Riley’s ex Griffin this time, their new client to protect. The story was fast paced and very entertaining. Bella’s female facial blindness reappears and is just as amusing each time.

Come back to the Riley Thorn world where you will be endlessly entertained by Score’s imagination. Everyone will find a reason to love this book, and this series. I definitely recommend it! 4.5- stars for book 4, TheBody in the Backyard, from me.

I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Bloom Books, and this is my honest feedback.

I adore the humour in these books and the varied and eclectic selection of characters, but I thought this was the weakest of the series so far. I still thoroughly enjoyed it, but the crime solving mystery aspect of the story wasn't great!

A great comeback for Riley and Nick after the sh*tshow they found themselves in in the last book. I was hopping mad at Nick in book 3 and felt like he had a lot to make up for; I'm happy to say that he realized it too, and he re-melted my cold, cold heart in this one. He truly became the man that Riley deserves. I loved everything about this book. It was fun from start to finish, moving the story of Riley and Nick along well and including just the right amount of the supporting cast. If you haven't read the series, start at the beginning. You won't regret it.

ARC BOOK REVIEW
💵 The Body in the Backyard 💵
Author: Lucy Score
4/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
368 pages

💵 Lucy Score is one of my absolute favs! Her writing is an ideal blend of humor, romance, and mystery, and her ability to engage the reader and make them laugh is a gift!

💵 This is book 4 in her Riley Thorn series. I have not read the other 3 books so it took me a bit to get into and I was lost at first. There was a lot going on between the fast-paced plot and several supporting characters, but after the first few chapters I caught on and was hooked!

💵 After a body is discovered in the backyard of psychic Riley’s egotistical ex husband, she begins working alongside private investigator and hunky boyfriend, Nick, and their outrageous elderly roommates to uncover the culprit. Mrs. Penny had me LOLing several times! These characters were literally all over the place in a hilariously good way!

Publish date; July 16th!!

This book was so funny, I was laughing out loud at so many different parts. Lucy Score nailed the main characters (like as much as we hate Griffin, his personality was so present in everything he did and said lol). If you are a fan of the Finlay Donovan series, you will love this book and the series. There are many characters in this book/series so at times can be hard to follow. I would have loved to hear the different POVs from the main characters and maybe this would help us better understand the side characters. Thanks to NetGalley and Bloom Books for the ARC.

If you’ve been reading this series, then grab this book. You won’t be disappointed. If you’re new to the Riley Thorn series, then grab Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door, the first book in the series. This series really needs to be read in order.

This story picked up right where the last book left off. I’ll admit, I had to go back and re-read the ending of Riley Thorn and the Blast from the Past because I didn’t remember what happened at the very end. As usual with this series, the story is a bit over the top and fully of funny moments. Griffin is as annoying, self-absorbed, and clueless as ever and fits this story perfectly.

I can’t tell you how much I love this series! All of the characters are absolutely fabulous. After having listened to the previous books in audio format, I couldn’t help by hear the narrator’s voices in my head while reading this one. If you’re a fan of audio books, I highly recommend this series in audio too.

I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I hope it never ends.

I love everything Lucy Score writes, and this is another entertaining story in the life of Riley Thorn, reluctant psychic.

Moving next door to all of the elderly inhabitants of Riley’s previous residence, isn’t far enough away as calamity happens. Griffin, Riley’s ex-husband also causes an uproar needing someone to keep him safe. Every time he says or does something in the books, I just want to smack him as he’s truly a self-centered, egotistical man with little thought of others.

I loved seeing Gabe again especially as he irritates Nick! The elderly neighbors are always a hoot, but I think I would get tired of trying to keep them all alive and out of trouble. They are seriously like toddlers with their messes!

This story is full of slapstick comedy, spirit guides along with Nick and Riley trying to find time alone. They are the cutest couple and I love how Nick wants to protect Riley.

Hopefully Ms. Score will continue to write this series as I want more of Nick and Riley.

Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this new book.

Read if you like: mystery, psychic detective fmc, murder case, PI detective mmc, OM drama, comedy, quirky characters

Where do I sign up for the GGS Group?? I would’ve been put on the mile long suspect list too after reading this book 😭

I went into this book without reading the other three in the series and I’m pleasantly surprised I could follow along easily 🫶🏻

This book was hilarious! Hands down the funniest book I have ever read 😂🤩

I was constantly giggling at how ridiculous Griffin was, the chaotic group of old people, Nick and Weber’s feud, the massage scene, and the hilarious dialogue.
Although the book is centred around murder, Lucy Score writes it in such a comedic way that I forgot half the time there’s a lowkey dark undertone under all the funny scenes. There’s very low romance and steam, but I thought it was a cute romcom and I have to read how the couple get together in Riley Thorn and the Dead Guy Next Door.

I highly recommend this hilarious, action packed book!

5 ⭐ 2 🌶

Look, I can't get enough Riley Thorn and Nick Santiago. Lucy could be like, Riley Thorn 18: The Remains at the Rodeo and I'd be like YEE HAW HERE WE GO! This cast of characters never gets old. Mrs. Penny has me constantly keeling over, as do the other octagenarians under their roof. Gabe is amazing, as are both of their families. And somehow I root for other woman/man drama when it comes to Bella and Gentry. They are ridiculous in all the worst, yet best ways.

So many scenes had me laughing, but I think the babysitting one was my favorite. The Taco Bell jokes were hilarious and Nick and his sister had me cracking up too. I hope one day we get to see Nick and Riley with babies.

I'm already pumped for book 5 and will likely re-read this one via audio in the meantime. Riley and company are one of my favorite ways to cuddle up with some good non-sensical laughs.

I loved this series so I was super excited to see that a 4th book was coming out. This one is about Riley's ex-husband - someone is out to get him and he wants Nick & Riley's help to figure out who it is.

Griffin (her ex-husband) is probably the most annoying person on the planet. I'm not sure how anyone puts up with him. Which, as I say that, I guess they don't. 😆 I loved seeing the progression of Nick & Riley's relationship. I really love them together. I love how he wants to keep her safe. There was so much elderly person madness in this book, sometimes it was hard to keep up. But it was definitely entertaining. This book/series is just a fun, entertaining escape for a little while. I feel like you need to read these books in order so you'll understand everything that is happening.

Thank you netgalley & Bloom books for this ARC. This is my honest review.
