I absolutely love this series and have been eating it up! This author is a fav of mine so I might be a little bias but you really can’t go wrong with ANY of her series. I really enjoyed this, the names she gives the different “breeds” for this series was a little confusing and I’m not sure someone more versed in Greek mythology would be able to overlook the little things…. But I was able to. I love Alex and really think she’s a good mix of badass and relatable!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this arc.
I did not realize this was part of a series, I saw Jennifer L. Armentrout and got excited and immediately clicked. I need to read the first two first and will come back and do another review!
Alex's birthday is drawing closer and she'll have to choose between the two people she thought she could trust: Seth, the Apollyon and her "fated" other half and Aiden, the Sentinel and the boy she's in love with but has closed his heart off to her in order to protect her. Alex's marks are growing and the closer her birthday draws near the closer she is to being awakened as the next Apollyon....yet the gods are now entering the game and people want to kill Alex. Can she make it to her next birthday and who will she become once she's awakened.... Alex and Aiden's relationship grows in this book after an incident that makes Aiden realize he can no longer hide or want to as he finally opens his heart up to Alex and stops pretending not to love her. But just as their relationship is finally happening, more threats appear and as they say, the path to true love was never easy. Love vs Fate, and which one is stronger will be the question for the next book. This was definitely a better book than the previous book and I can say I am looking forward to the last two books in the series and seeing how this whole journey ends.
*Spoiler: Seth is now evil and part of the First, Alex dies and is brought back by Apollo, and Alex and Aiden start their relationship. On her birthday Alex is awakened and something else takes over her turning her into a blood thirsty person and who is invaded by Seth's soul. In order to keep her from killing everyone they give her an elixir that makes her forget everything and become submissive to Aiden. Aiden wants to bring back her memories and is visited by a Fate who tells him that Love is just as strong as the Fate string, and now he is determined to bring back Alex's self and to get rid of Seth's fate string that is connected to Alex's and overpower it with the love between Alex and Aiden.*

*Thanks Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books | Bloom Books for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
Alexandra dreads her eighteenth birthday. She's torn between Seth and Aiden... This is not the first book in the series. You'll have to read the first 2 books to really understand it.
It's still a terrific read after all these years. Love the romance. Love the characters.
Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday because of the order out to killer her. Whenever Alex and Seth train together she gains another mark of the Apollycon which could lead to her awakening happening soon rather then later. Her entire world shatters and she finds herself caught between love and fate. Once the gods reveal themselves lives will be changed forever and those left will discover which is stronger love or fate.
The story truly gained a purpose in this book and grew into itself. There are conflicts that feel compelling and the stakes are much higher. The romance is moving along at a good pace and it makes you excited to see where it will go. The mythology aspects also add to the story and make it more interesting.
great idea but execution was unfortunately off for me.
the pacing and writing of characters was juvenile for what they meant to represent. i do think the romance along with paranormal elements are good. the writing wasn't for me and outshined everything else basically. 2 stars.
thank you jennifer l. armentrout and netgalley for the ARC!
Deity was an amazing, action-packed story. It picks up where the previous book left off giving us more of Alexandria (Alex), Seth, Aiden and the rest of the main players and characters in this story. I devoured this book in one sitting, and it is not a short story, but the cliffhanger ending definitely left me wanting more. This author's writing style is amazing as she writes her books in a way that's descriptive and easily allows me to feel as if everything is playing out right in front of me, she has me invested in these characters. Seth is showing his hands and his true motives and although Alex is seeing it firsthand, she still believes there is hope for him. However, hope seems to be all she has when it comes to him, and it has its cost. Aiden is determined to save her along with a few others, but Alex is not making it easy at all. She's stubborn, reckless and as clueless and aggravating as she wants to be at times and there were many times her character worked on my nerves, However, her actions at times seemed childish but I guess she acted her age, and she does carry a huge weight on her shoulders. Huge power plays are being made and just when you think things have settled down and that there may be hope, the author throws another twist, turn or surprise into the story which kept me on the edge of my seat. The suspense, mystery, betrayal, revenge, planning, plotting, regret, friendships, forbidden romance, love, loss, hope, and reunions in the unlikeliest of places, battles and what seems to be a start of war was everything. I will definitely be reading the next book in this series and recommending this series to all of my paranormal romance book loving friends.
the updated cover is what drew me in, I loved this series alot and re-reading it has me all in my feels again!
it's a wonderful series and one you really don't want to miss out on!
I was unaware this was book 3 in a series from 2012. What i did read sounded interesting. But given that i started this book thinking it was book 1, I’ll have to go back and read the first two books and come back.
