I read this book awhile back and my thoughts are still the same -- it drags on for too long and I hated that they were separated for the entire book -- BUT I do love this world and this series and Auren and Slade SO I fully trust Raven to do what she does best and bring this back around!
Gold picks up right where Glow ended. Space and Auren are separated and Slade is showing the world just how much of a villain he can be. Since Auren and Slade are separated throughout this book we don’t get any of the spice that we’ve seen in the previous books. This book diverged from the previous 4, focusing more on world-building, introducing new characters, and filling in current characters backstories. That being said, this story still has plenty of emotional moments to keep you engaged. Much like Glow, Gold ends with a major plot twist and huge cliffhanger. I can’t wait for the finial book to see how this story ends.
It was very unconventional for Auren not to reunite with her mate. At first, i thought I wouldn’t like that, but it made me realize the anticipation just went higher for the next book. It became obvious later that the purpose of this book was to learn about a whole new world. The one Auren came from. So it was until that point that I really appreciated the book for what it was. Auren finding herself on her own terms. And that was awesome, because even though she misses her mate, she did it by herself. It was just another way to show empowerment in the amazing character arc that Auren has in the plated prisoners series. I loved that message. And that cliffhanger, as usual, killer. Waiting for goldfinch will be painful.
This series was one I waited to start, but has not disappointed AT ALL. Raven, you absolutely CRUSHED this book. Yes, I cried like a baby more than once. Yes, I was devastated by the ending. Yes, I raged for these characters. I also LOVED being back in this world. I loved seeing the characters grow, fight, break, and love. Raven Kennedy does the most incredible character arcs I have ever read! It makes the reader truly understand why the characters are who they are and have done what they have done. It’s SO powerful.
I need you to be so for real right now with that ending. Because what in the actual f*ck was that?!
This book was so intense and wild. Slade is forever a slay and I love his morally grey ass. Auren is such a bad ass and I love her for it. I loved seeing her truly come into her own. But the betrayal?! The fuckin reveals?! The twists and turns, my poor heart can't handle it.
Also I can't be the only person that can't staaaand Malina pov chapters. I get why we needed them but I absolutely did not want to read chapter 42. Iykyk.
I need Goldfinch like yesterday.

This is book five of six in The Plated Prisoner Series. And I couldn’t put it down. It was the perfect fifth installment—drama, love, tension, and lots of character development. I need book six right now, please and thank you!!!!!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
I absolutely love everything about this series and cannot wait for the final book! If you have not already, read book one, grab your favorite drink, blanket, and lots of snacks because you're going to end up binge-reading this entire series. With romance, action, heartbreak, and edge-of-your-seat, nail-biting drama, this series truly has it all. I am now impatiently waiting for book 6.
I FREAKIN LOVE THIS SERIES.
Thank you so much to Bloom, Raven, and Netgalley for the arc. This review is being left voluntarily and all opinions are my own.
This one starts off right where Glow ended - and we get the answers to what happened after that hell of a cliffhanger!
After reading this I understand why this book was split into 2 - but COME ON THE NEW CLIFFHANGER LOL
I felt like this book was slow. Almost as if it had a lot of filler. It felt slow in the plot development. I honestly feel like it could have been cut down some. I feel like nothing important truly happened in this book.
The content was good, it’s a great storyline just slow and some things were unnecessary.
Overall 3.5 stars
This book was amazing, I loved all the books prior to this one and I'll love the rest. this is a 10/10 series!
I've loved every book of this series and now can't wait to read #6! This book was a lot of backstory and Slade and Auren are not together in it but fighting to find each other. It's ends on a crazy cliffhanger and I can't wait for the next one! I'd recommend this series to anyone! Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Gold was a great read but I'm definitely looking forward to the last book in the series. I was truly hoping that we got more of Auren and Slade together in this book, and we got them just not together at all. This book basically gives you journeys of the characters you've come to love and hate. In the previous book Auren was pushed through the rip and she arrives in Annwyn. She gets a major surprise, learns of her history and her parent's demise, the symbol she represents to the people who have never lost hope under the rule of the Carricks, who despised Auren's family and she fully accepts every part of herself the light and the dark. Where introduced to new characters whom you will both love and hate, and I even became teary-eyed while reading a part of her journey. Slade is on a mission to make those who betrayed Auren pay and he truly shows why he is the King of Rot. Revenge is the only thing he has now and he's not holding back at all he doesn't even care about his health. Queen Kaila is still scheming and someone she loves will pay the price. She may be trying to seize power from Kingdoms, but she is a coward, and her followers will realize it too late. Osrik is still determined to save Rissa's life, but her injuries might just be too severe. The assassin Dommik is still with Queen Malina and their journey has both pain and pleasure. New and old enemies come into play, they have their own agenda and are intent on following through with it no matter the cost. Auren has been betrayed yet again but she also realizes that there's more to Wick than she originally thought. Slade gets word that the Fae are slaughtering humans and is told how that came to be. Enemies must now become allies in the war that is headed towards the kingdoms. This story had revenge, deaths, torture, betrayal, surprises, steamy scenes, laugh out loud moments, lost memories and more. It ends with one heck of a cliffhanger and I'm looking forward to reading what I hope is the final book in this series.
I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH OMG. I could not stop! This whole series had me in such a chokehold. When I wasn’t reading, I was thinking about it! This has been my favorite in the series so far, no spoilers, even though it killed me seeing Slade & Auren apart but I cannot wait for Goldfinch!!
I really like the Plated Prisoner series. Gold was an excellent addition and expands the story in a way I didn't even think was possible and went beyond my expectations. Annwyn is magical and the whole lost heir thing has hit all my buttons.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC.
This moved right up to the top of my TBR as soon as I got it! After the cliffhanger in the last book I was dying to continue the story and this did not disappoint! In this story we get to see the couple grow on their own instead of with each other. So many twists and turns as Auren rediscovers a part of herself!
