I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.
I have adored the Covenant series since it was first published and to learn it's coming out again with new covers was so exciting! Alex is back to kick ass and take names while dealing with a bit of a love triangle that offers some perfect banter.
I really really really love this series! I adore the characters, the drama, the anguish, the political intrigue, and the overall eerie, dark vibe of this. I actually like this book over the first one, despite the plot not being as engaging as it was in the first! I was still completely absorbed in the storyline at several points.
I adore Alex's bold, feisty spirit. She has a feisty, sarcastic attitude and is a wild youngster who acts impulsively. However, I became a little impatient with her when she kept making the wrong choices.
And this series' love triangle is so amazing! I adore how Aiden and Seth enjoy picking fights with each other over Alex and how protective they are of her. And Seth, I really do love him. As you get to know him better, you'll discover that he can be genuinely kind and considerate.
This book's magical and mythological elements were so wonderful! I was holding my breath to see what would happen next because it was so brilliantly written.
It's just perfect , okay? IT SIMPLY HAD EVERYTHING IN IT. Pure managed to make me laugh, cry, and feel hot all at the same time. And I am not even kidding.
When I was perusing books on NetGalley, I saw this one and the cover attracted me. I'd done a search for Jennifer Armentrout books and when this came up I just had to request it. I last read this in 2014, so ten years ago! I honestly didn't remember a lot about the series except that it had left a good impression on me. Jennifer Armentrout is the one author who got me out of my box and to read fantasy/sci-fi/paranormal. I can see why I Loved Alex so much when I first read it. If there's one thing I love in a character it is a snarky personality! And she is QUEEN of snark! Alex and Aiden's story is somewhat a modern Romeo & Juliet story, as they were not meant to be together, I guess you could say. Being reintroduced to their world where she is a half-blood and he is a pure, the reader understands why they shouldn't be together but you still root for them. I had forgotten how the end left be questioning, but it did for sure and now I want to re-read this series. In fact, I think I have one in the series I had never read so I'll definitely do that.
I really enjoyed this second book in the Covenant series. A classic romantasy, love-triangle, drama-filled, female rising up to power series that those familiar with Jennifer's other works will recognize. Great for fans of Jennifer's other series as well as ACOTAR and fantasy series in general.
She's a half-blood who is in love with the one person she is forbidden from wanting then there is her "other half" the guy she's supposed to be with... throw in school drama, monsters, politics, and heartbreaks (and some assassination attempts) and you get the sequel to Pure Blood. Picking up where the first book left off Alexis still reeling from discovering her mother and her new status s the second Apollyon. Alex is in love with Aiden, a pure-blood, and their romance is completely forbidden and he's willing to break her heart if it means keeping her safe... and then there is Seth, the other Apollyon and her other half, a charming, annoying, and handsome guy who is there for her whether she wants to admit it or not, is worming his way into her heart. If she can't have Aiden why not settle for Seth, someone who isn't forbidden and will return her feelings.... not to mention on top of all her complicated feelings, someone is threatening to get rid of Alex and is willing to hurt others around her to get to her. Can she sort out her heart and find out who wants to get rid of her before it's too late? Once you move past the fact that this book series is a near copy of Vampire Academy but Walmart you get this unfortunately. Alex got on my nerves so much in this book and honestly I am so over Aiden as well. I think Seth is the most fun of the characters in this book and while they are making him her rebound guy and essentially either going to make him the "love interest turned friend" or a "bad guy". I really felt like this box was such an oddly placed one as it feels like not much actually happened and it's sole thing was the love triangle. I do hope to see more development in the third book and hope that maybe it'll eventually have the same charm and fun as the Vampire Academy series but that's definitely yet to be seen.

*Thanks Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books | Bloom Books for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
I loved this book and thought it was a great sequel to the first book of the series, Half-Blood! We saw a lot of great character change from Seth - Aiden took a step back, but did not leave the narrative, however, Armentrout is clearly setting up Seth's growth as a character who we truly love and care about. We did see the death of a beloved character and some absolutely insane moves from the Council. This is a must read!
As good as the first in the series. Couldn’t put it down. Loved it. One of my favourite fantasy authors. She never disappoints.
