I love anything Mia Sheridan writes, but in particular, something like this because it mizes the right doses of romance and mystery and suspense. The plot happens to be more mystery and suspense than romance but there’s such a beautiful, slow burn, love story intertwined throughout that's truly so captivating. I really enjoyed this book and I'm so happy it was rereleased and traditionally published because everything Mia Sheridan writes turns to gold and I want everyone to experience her genius!

I had a vague idea of what i thought this book would be like before i picked it up. I was right..and wrong.

Im going to say that this was just ok? I never felt connected to the characters. I felt like we needed more time. The twist near the end...made sense but was also a little too...perfectly put together.

I give it a 3/5

I have read several of Mia's books, and this one was a solid addition to that roster. Harper is called down to the sheriff's office to assist in an investigation surrounding Lucas, who is said to be a wild, savage mountain man. The more she observes Lucas, however, she sees much more depth and intelligence in his eyes. As details are uncovered relating to the case, Harper finds herself involved in something much bigger than she initially thought.

I liked this story a lot, but it did seem a bit unbalanced, to the point that the mystery overshadowed the love story at the heart of the book. I liked the wilderness setting and the "Tarzan-esque" storyline, as that in particular was something that I hadn't come across before. It wasn't super steamy, but in this instance I think that fit the story better. Any more would have seemed like overkill. Overall an enjoyable read.

Harper is called to the sheriff's office in order to provide assistance on a case, and is shocked to learn that the main and only suspect is described as a savage, Lucas. The longer she watches him on the surveillance camera the more intrigued she becomes. How is it possible he has survived on his own in the forest for so long, why do his eyes still show intelligence and sensitivity. As the secrets begin to emerge, Harper finds herself caught up in something much bigger then she ever imagined.

The romance in this book is overshadowed by the action and mystery and the ending was a bit predictable. That being said Mia Sheridan is phenomenal writes and she is able to weave a story that you want to continue reading no matter what.

4.25 stars. Wow, this was a really good, original book! This is a romance between Jak, a man that was raised in the woods underneath mysterious circumstances, and Harper, a woman who is helping the police solve a murder because she runs a wilderness company in the area it took place. I can't go into too much detail because this book has a lot of twists and turns that I don't want to spoil. But I will say that Unwanted was a great blend of suspense, romance and love.

Unwanted is described as a Tarzan-esque book, which is not really my usual cup of tea. But I am glad I took a chance on it. This is such a good story and I really enjoyed it. Jak was raised in the woods and lives in a cabin, not interacting with any people in town. I found Jak to be a lot less naive and innocent than I expected, and a lot more intelligent. He is not child-like and he speaks English. Jak understands a lot more than most people in some aspects, although he still has a lot to learn about the world. He was the perfect amount of wild. I liked both he and Harper so much. They are both orphans, with Harper being raised in foster care and Jak living in the wilderness. So they had a lot in common and were able to understand each other in a way that others couldn't. They were a perfect match and had a really sweet connection. There isn't a ton of steam but that wouldn't have really fit here anyway.

Overall, Unwanted is a really good book. It has an interesting story, a sweet romance and a great ending. This was such an original story and I know I will be thinking about it for a long time. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Sheridan in the future.

Unwanted by Mia Sheridan. I've had this book on my wish list to read as Savaged. I'm glad I finally got a chance to read it not what I expected but still very good. The author knows how to write a good book and always keeps me intrigued.

This novel captured my interest a few pages in and I absolutely could not put it down. Harper’s character had an incredible back story that was delicately woven into this story. Her every move and desire made absolute sense and her interest in Lucas, a man whose appearance is frightening but whose demeanor is gentle, especially with her, made their interactions riveting. These were two characters that I wanted to read and know more about. As the plot unfolded and their secrets were unveiled Harper and Lucas became more interesting instead of less.

Flashbacks typically drive me crazy, but Mia Sheridan used them to advantage, moving the plot forward incrementally through these stories. These episodes were heart-wrenching and sometimes difficult to read but provided the reader with even more of a reason to root for these characters. As the more romantic elements unfolded these flashbacks provided a reason for being in the wilderness and I was rooting for this boy and had hope for his future and him finding a home and happiness.

This novel had it all. A great mystery, strong male and female lead, a warm hearted romance, and a redemption arc at the end. It looks to be the first in a series and I’m looking forward to the journey this author is going to take the reader on in these future novels.

I went into this fully expecting to love this, as i love other Mia Sheridan books..but I just couldn’t get into this one unfortunately.
The pacing felt off and I was confused for quite awhile in the beginning, I just didn’t feel like the story was going anywhere.
I did like the way it wrapped up and how the lose ends and confusion were cleared up toward the end.
Mia’s writing is beautiful and I can completely see her ideas and can understand her point from a creative standpoint, I think this book just wasn’t for me.

This is the first book I've read by Mia Sheridan. I absolutely loved it. She is an excellent author. This book was a mystery/suspense romance that had my attention from the beginning. I loved getting so many POVs. I didn't want to put it down, but needed to do so at times. The heartbreaking back stories were difficult to read. My heart squeezed for the characters. I teared up. But there were heartwarming moments as well. I will look for more from this author.

Thank you Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloombooks for the ARC of this book. This is my voluntary and honest review.

4/5 stars

This is my second book by this author and I would say it’s a suspenseful mystery with a little bit of a love story. Harper is a wilderness guide who is asked to assist police with navigating an area where crimes have been committed. While helping police, Harper meets a man who has to survive in the wilderness on his own for most of his life.

Overall this was an enjoyable read. The beginning was slow and I didn’t really feel invested in the story until about 40%. I did like all the twists even though some were predictable.

Thank you Mia Sheridan, NetGalley and Sourcebook Bloom Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book just was not for me at all. It started off super interesting but became so mediocre so quickly. I was disappointed and it was super easy to figure out what was going to happen. Sadly, I did not enjoy this one and I wanted to like it so badly!!

This was not for me, but it may be for other readers for sure! I just didn’t like the way this one was written and the story just didn’t have enough going on for me.

As far as thrillers go, I really liked this one. It wasn’t a thriller in the sense that it would keep you on the edge of your seat due to suspense, but it is about murders that take place and mysterious present events that connect to the past.

On a deeper level, this book was intriguing! It talks about human nature in multiple ways, and it was constantly making me think. This is only my second Mia Sheridan book, but I love how she dives into subjects that aren’t very common and that make you question the world around you!

Mia Sheridan brings us a unique standalone love story that is straightforward and beautiful. Unwanted has complex plot twists with touch of mystery and suspense.

Harper Ward is called to help with a murder investigation. Her knowledge as a wilderness guide in the vast landscape surrounding the small town of Helena Springs, Montana is exactly what is needed. The only suspect - a man who has lived alone in the forest since he was a small child who they are calling a “savage.”

“So, you’ve been living out here how long?”
“Fifteen winters.” So many. So much cold. So much hunger. So much loneliness.

Lucas is the “savage” man. He is so complex and filled with such a beautiful and pure innocence. The angst is strong as Lucas struggles with loneliness and the constant need to survive. The way Lucas thinks, the way he survives, the way he interprets things/situations are written in such a creative way. One of my favorite parts of Lucas's story is the unique animal references/parallels that he uses to figure things out. Especially when he is finally around people.

“Survive or die."

Lucas and Harper are two souls that connect on so many levels. Harper is compassionate and caring. They share similar backgrounds which produce many of the same emotions, anger, sadness, fear and lack of trust.

“Everyone gave me away. No one kept me.”
…“I’ll keep you.”

Mia Sheridan has once again proven to be such a versatile writer. She wowed me with More Than Words and has once again with Unwanted as she brings us a completely different story. I loved Jak and Harper’s story! It is not as romantic or steamy as some of the 'Sign of Love' books but equally as enjoyable!

I loved Jak and Harper’s story! When I started reading I had no expectations about the type of story this would be. Jak starts as a mysterious character that comes from the wild and is essentially a legit caveman, he is investigated by the police as a suspect for a murder of the man whose property he lived on. Aria is support for the land the murder happened since she gives tours of the area.

Harper and Jak’s life get intertwined as they begin to discover more about their past. It is written so beautifully that I finished the book in one sitting eager to know what linked them from a very early age. I loved Jak’s character development and how he reassured Harper he wouldn’t leave🥺🥺🥺 Jak was so selfless and protective when it came to Harper and I adored the bond they quickly formed. Totally recommend this cute novel!

Thanks Netgalley and Mia Sheridan for the ARC!

First off, I want to say that I love Mia Sheridan's novels! I was so excited to get this one and was ready to jump into a rustic deep romance. This book turned out to be completely different than what I was expecting. I would almost categorize this novel as a mystery/suspense over it being a romance. Another thing that I was surprised to find out too, is that this book was originally published in 2019 under the title Savaged. I was expecting more angst, emotional turmoil, ugly cries! But the romance parts were overshadowed by action, thriller and mystery parts of the story. At some parts I thought the hero was more attached to his wolves than Harper! Don’t get me wrong! This is still good written book but genre changing of author a little confused me! I prepared myself to see more romantic and lyrical story instead of a survival thriller!

I ended up rating this novel with 3.5 stars. The book is focused more on the mystery parts of the story, sometimes getting philosophical about it. The writing is good and sometimes poetic while it deals with the concepts of the meaning of life, coincidences, fate, hope, struggle for survival, mistakes and their repercussions, kinds of crime with their outcomes, forgiveness, healing, letting go and finding peace and love.

I did not know exactly what to expect from this book-is it a mystery? Thriller? Romance? Turns out, it's a little bit of all three! I absolutely loved this story. It will capture your attention right from the prologue and keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire story. I read a lot of thrillers and I wasn't able to accurately guess any of the twists this amazing book offered (though I was really close with one of them). If you like a mystery/thriller with a little romance thrown in, this is the book for you. Bonus points (,in my opinion) because of the wilderness setting/survival aspect. Just go read it! You will not regret it!

Mia Sheridan has the most addicting writing style. This book is a murder mystery, romance, and survival story all rolled into one.
I found this book to be full of suspense and was completely unpredictable. The author weaves threads throughout the novel to weave an intricate web of secrets that buildup to a masterful climax.
I fell in love with Mia Sheridan's depiction of her male characters in the 'Archer's voice.' Jak is equal parts compassionate, innocent, and mysterious. The men in Mia Sheridan's novels make you feel that they are the best of all humanity in a cruel world.
This book has trigger warnings and dark backstories for both main characters. It is perfectly balanced with a serene setting in Montana providing the characters and the reader alike, a sense of hope.

Highly recommend and Mia Sheridan is becoming an auto-buy author for me.

Sheridan kept me hooked from page to page with the suspense. She tore my heart out but also stitched it back up again with the happily ever after!

This romance book is actually a re-release for Sheridan - originally released under the title Savaged and OMG was it interesting!

Part of me, not going to lie, had me questioning how Sheridan even conceived the atrocity behind this story but I just had to focus on getting to the happy ending which was so satisfying.

One of my reading goals for 2024 was to read more romantic suspense since it is one category of the romance genre that I haven’t really dabbled much in so this one totally fit the bill.

It had me hooked from the very beginning where I was just petrified and sickened by the events that kick off this story and wondering how someone could survive in the woods alone for as long as the hero did.

But he was not in just any woods – the woods of Montana where the winters are harsh and LONG. My heart broke for “Lucas” so many times in this story and yet his strength and beautiful heart were everything.

Sheridan alternates between the present with people trying to solve two crimes while also trying to figure out who this man from the woods is with chapters that take you back to the past to give you greater depth to Lucas’ character and history. This was a genius way to write this story, to keep things moving, and to give you some relief from the shock value that would accompany the past chapters so often.

Lucas was the main focus of the story for me (how could he not?!) and yet I also felt for Harper and her story too. She was a woman who had to overcome her own atrocities and hardships and the way they found each other was beautiful, unexpected and so unique.

I love books where secondary characters are just as wonderful and the detective and his wife were great additions and people who needed to heal just as much as Harper and Lucas.

I will say that anyone who cannot read books that deal with violence against children will want to heed the trigger warnings because this one was difficult to read at times. I can only imagine the people who believe the end justifies the means for behavior that is uncomprehensible and horrible.

If you enjoy romantic suspense, a virgin hero who will steal your heart and a love story so deserving, then you’ll want to add this to your TBR list.
