As an OG Mia Sheridan stan, I was SO excited to dive into this book as an arc! Sheridan (in my opinion) writes about relationships in such a unique and emotional way that it’s almost impossible for me not to wipe away tears at some point during her books, which is why she quickly became one of my favorite authors.

‘Unwanted’ started out as a book that I was completely enthralled with. The man vs wild aspect, the mysteries surrounding multiple characters, and the emotional baggage all around drew me in. However, I was turned away from some details and questioning why others were left out. I imagine it’s hard to write about topics such as those explored in this book and writing a character that walks the line of wild and civilized can’t be easy, but I felt that it was inconsistent. Lucas (mmc) sometimes felt too unique to be believable and Harper (mfc) going along with it made her less relatable.

The premise of the story - a boy left to fend for himself in the wild while there’s more going on than he can imagine, and a girl caught in a web of drama she too couldn’t anticipate - was SO intriguing, which is why I kept reading. I simply wanted to know what would happen! It’s the characters, though, that threw me off. I couldn’t connect with them or sometimes even believe them.

don't even know what else to say. I am so blown away. I feel like I've been waiting for this story. I've been yearning for something to set itself apart from the pack. Something different from anything else I've been reading. And y'all - Mia Sheridan delivered.

Savaged carries the same heart, emotional impact, and beautiful love story that I've come to expect from this author, but it was...different. A little darker. A little edgier. A little more twisted. My heart came out of this one a little battered, but so, so satisfied.

This is a long book, and it's dense. That is, every bit of it is important and all of it was fascinating, compelling and interesting to me. The lovely and original romance is situated right in the middle of of a mystery and my mind raced to put the puzzle pieces together even as my heart fell so easily in love with these amazing, unique, and completely wonderful characters.

I didn't get the puzzle pieces right, by the way. Nothing played out the way I expected to and there was a moment, near the end, where my head nearly exploded. Literally I had an "Oh, my god. OhMyGod. OHMYGOD" moment - my pulse pounding, my heart bubbling over with all kinds of crazy emotions, and my mind...well, completely blown.

Savaged was absolutely one of the best books I've read so far this year. It was thrilling. It was horrifying. It was heartwarming. It was simply fantastic. This book was an experience, and one I cannot recommend highly enough. Read this book!!!

This was one of the first books that got me back into reading and I still think about it years later. Now published under a new name “Unwanted”, Mia Sheridan weaves together a wonderful story.

I originally picked this book up because it was set in Montana (although a fictional town), I was immediately immersed in small towns and the rugged landscape.

Our main character Harper is a wilderness guide and brought to Helena Springs to consult on a double murder With a mountain man seen roaming the town with bows and arrows , the cops think he looks good for the crime. But after meeting the primitive man, named Lucas, Harper finds him to be a lot gentler and kind than people are making him out to me. With both of them having more in common with each other than you’d originally think, a love story blossoms.

Equal parts suspense and romance, this book had me on the edge of my seat! Lots of trigger warnings but an amazing book.

4.5 stars. Thank you NetGalley for the eARC. All opinions are my own.

This was interesting. Two murders lead to man living in & off of the wilderness., Jak/Lucas. Harper is an orphan who is helping the police. When they meet they find that they have a lot more in common then then think.
I kinda liked that this was a genre bending book. A little romance. A little police procedure. A little suspense. I kinda wished it was little bit more of each of those. No spoilers but there was parts of the ending that I did not like. Although the very end was lovely.
Over all this was an okay read. I kinda just wished there was a little more from the genres presented.

I adore Mia Sheridan. Whenever she has a new book I immediately need to pick it up. This one did not disappoint I love how she weaves these absolutely heartbreaking but yet extremely romantic stories together. You get so swept away in her characters and the small towns they live in

Mia Sheridan has a gift for writing beautiful romances and stories that just suck you in. the crime/suspense element of the story added so much depth to the book. i love how Harper and Lucas were immediately drawn to each other. both of their stories are so tragic, but seeing them heal together was so beautiful🥹 MS can do no wrong 👏🏻

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an early copy of this novel.

I read the original version when it was previously independently published. I loved that story. The author has stated that this version has been retitled and lovingly polished, and I have to completely agree. I absolutely devoured and adored Unwanted! The FMC has a quiet strength and is compassionate, and the FMC is perceptive and capable of survival. This is one of my favorite reads of the year!

I really enjoyed the main storyline that was unraveling, but for some reason did not click with the love story and ended up feeling it was distracting to the story. I also didn’t know going into this that it has similar themes to Tarzan, which admittedly has always been a weird movie to me - so that skews my pov a little bit. I would have loved more of the story to be focused on the experiment!

Like all of Mia Sheridan's works this is not a lighthearted romance, rather, it's a tale of survival, destiny, and self-discovery.
It featured every wonderful aspect of her usual book, including character growth, a slow-burning love tale, a personal tragedy, overcoming obstacles, suspense, mystery, and a little twist. And contrary to my expectations, this was a far darker and heavier read.

This story is so dramatic because it combines horrible murders, kidnapping, a survivor story, and a love story all at once. A tragic tale of two individuals compelled to follow the laws of others, who are eventually reunited after many years apart. It reminded me a little bit of Tarzan mixed with The Hunger Games.

I had a lot of questions during this entire book. As you're trying to figure things out, the plot pulls you from the moment Harper meets Lucas. This takes you on a really interesting journey with a hint of romance sprinkled in. Both Lucas and Harper were people I adored on their own and in their relationship. It's engrossing in a really strange and thrilling way. I was itching to find out more. I just didn't see how everything came together in the second half.

This is a great story to read if you enjoy mysteries and deep storytelling. Highly recommended!

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Unwanted is reminiscent of Archer’s Voice in that our male main character has spent his entire adult life in extreme isolation. In this book, Mia Sheridan introduces us to Harper Ward, an independent wilderness guide tasked with helping local police solve a murder. The main suspect, she is told, is a savage. Lucas’s feral appearance and isolated upbringing paint him as a dangerous outcast, but Harper senses a depth and vulnerability beneath the surface.

As Harper delves deeper into the investigation she finds herself increasingly drawn to the enigmatic Lucas. As she unravels the layers of deception and danger, she must also confront her growing attraction to the man at the center of it all. Before long, the unprecedented double homicide isn’t the only mystery that Harper is desperate to unravel. As the investigation progresses, Harper’s broader question becomes: what happened to Lucas?

I really enjoyed this book. It’s sexy, suspenseful, and beautifully plot-driven. Together with Archer’s Voice, Mia Sheridan has crafted a romance trope that is uniquely her own. So, yeah. If you love a hot virgin with minimal social skills and a rudimentary understanding of sex, this one’s for you.

This whole story line was both engrossing and entirely horrifying. Once you put together what is happening, you wonder about the future of humanity. However, even though it's fiction, some of it was quite far fetched. But overall, a very good book and I'm excited for the next one!!

Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebooks BloomBooks for an ARC copy. I am rating this book a 3.5 Star rating.
While I enjoyed this story and it was very heartwarming, I felt it was a bit to long. The twist were very fulfilling and fun to read.
It is crazy to think if this kind of situation is really happening in the real world.

My favorite Mia Sheridan! When I first read this title under its previously published as "Savaged," I added it to my favorites and I will add this re-publishing once again!

"What do I look like to you? I was human once, but now I’m part animal.
Which one do you see?
And why aren’t you afraid?
He’d crawled.
He’d cried.
He’d eaten mud and bugs and dead grass when he was so starved he thought he’d die.
He’d begged.
He’d killed. Could she tell? Could she see in his eyes how low he’d gone to survive? To live?"

This was an intriguing storyline that was beautifully written. Perhaps a little too descriptive at times, leading the reader to wonder when the story was going to take off but overall I looked forward to picking it up

I really liked both of Mia Sheridan’s previous romantic suspense/thriller books, but this one just didn’t hit the same for me. I wasn’t as enthralled by either of the main love interests and the story moved slower than what I prefer. I still liked the book and the plot was solid, just not a favorite for me!

4.25 stars ⭐️ I went into this book blind and I’m so glad I did.

Unwanted took me through an array of emotions. It was suspenseful, heartbreaking and beautifully crafted. It begins with a mysterious double murder in small town Montana, and quickly unravels into so much more.

The bond between Harper and Jak was so intense and multilayered. They are soulmates and Mia writes their connection at such a beautiful, primal level. Jak deserves the world, and I’m so happy he got his HEA. I love him with all my soul.

I will admit the multiple (4) POVs in 3rd person were hard to get used to but I’m glad it didn’t deter me.

I’m hoping with the rerelease we get another book in this world (and get more Harper + Jak).

This was an emotional story of survival, love, wisdom and hope. Mia Sheridan writes magical books and this romantic suspense proves it.

I received this book as an ARC and wish my honest opinion was a bit higher.

Positives:
- The book did hold my interest overall. The story weaved in and had me wanting answers, so the pages kept turning
- The author was good at being descriptive. I could imagine the setting well.

Not-so-positives:
- There is child abuse/torture, child death(s), animal death and that was really hard to then find the book enjoyable
- Believe-ability. I struggled to believe that a child who lived alone for that majority of his life could become an adult that didn't seem to have severe mental health and physical issues/traumas. Just able to assimilate into normal society and be in a physical and emotional relationship just fine.

2.6/5 Stars

This is a beautifully written story of Jak, who grown up in the wilderness to in a world that has been created based on lies, and Harper, a wilderness guide brought in to assist the police with a murder investigation.

Unwanted has a little bit of everything - suspense, romance, a dystopian feel and plot twists that you never saw coming. Mia Sheridan thoughtfully created a environment was capable of drawing out the readers emotions. There were tears, slight anger toward the people who did this to Jak and even some laughing as he learned and adjusted to his new world.

Don’t pass this book up. It’s so worth the read.
