Mia Sheridan does it again! This queen of writing never disappoints. I truly believe she would be able to write an instant hit in any genre you throw at her. Jak and Harper are characters you can instantly connect with and the intertwining of their past and present is unlike any other.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bloom Books for providing me with an e-book of this story. I will definitely be picking up a physical copy asap.

Whew this was a. wild, emotional ride that’s anything but predictable. With a mix of romance, suspense, and some seriously jaw-dropping twists, this story had me hooked from start to finish. Jak and Harper's journey is a compelling blend of survival and love, and the way their pasts intertwine kept me on edge. If you're into stories with depth and a bit of mystery, definitely check this one out!
Romance with a splash of survival of the fittest.
The spice was spicey, and the suspense was giving. The ending was not my favorite, but I still enjoyed the reach overall.
The male and female main characters both have endured their fair share of trauma. They are brought together by fate if you will.
Multiple POVs and different timelines made this a little complicated at first to know when and where we were, but it was well written, and I was able to get the hang of the timelines. Without the perspectives of them all you would not fully understand or enjoy the story.
The very start of this one made me pause to question if this was the book for me. But a couple chapters in I was hooked, more than hooked I was invested! This is a must read. A combined love story with the most brutal parts of humanity. Some of this was sad and horrific and some was so light and warm. The resilience of human nature and the innocence of children combined into a terrifying tale. I was sad when I hit the end of this one. The last surprise twist with lives crossing was so well done! This book was absolutely amazing! Five enthusiastic stars
If you like Tarzan then this is for you. It’s a polished version of an previously self-published book. I went into this thinking it was a new book but alas.
5/5⭐️ and I’m not even surprised I loved it this much! The beginning had me captivated the middle had me absolutely in awe and anxiety, and that end? Omfg! That was so much more than I was hoping for 🥹🥹
Now the real question book 2?👀
While this was different than the typical romance read I gravitate toward I really enjoyed this. I thought Jak's story was absolutely heart breaking because of everything he faced, and Harper's upbringing was just as rough having lost her parents. Being told in three different pov's I feel like I really got so much more detail in the story, Harper and Jak mainly focused on their story but the sheriff's pov was all about unraveling the two murders he was tasked to solve. All three also wove together to tell the story perfectly.
I'd totally recommend picking this up if you're looking for a romance read with a mystery behind it.
Mia Sheridan can pull a storyline together better than anyone! 🤯
I’ve lost count of how many of her books I’ve read, but I was really impressed by how creative this story was. It could be compared to to Archer’s Voice, but they’re each their own unique story!
I went in blind and was assuming this would be focused more on romance all the way through. I was pleasantly surprised by the suspenseful plot, the danger lurking in the setting, and complexity of the main characters. I thoroughly enjoyed how Sheridan ties in the mystery of the past with the current day.
Unwanted is a slow burn suspenseful romance that had me hooked from page one.
We learn of the tragic events that shaped the lives of the two main characters, Jak and Harper, and their display of perseverance to survive.
Their lives have been unknowingly intertwined since childhood and their mutual instincts to protect one another stem from their individual experiences of loneliness and suffering.
Be ready to feel all the feels, this story elicits an array of emotions!
This was fantastic. I really enjoyed reading it. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC!
This book just wasn't for me. Though I enjoyed parts of the story, it was just a bit too predictable for a romantic suspense. I didn't really enjoy the over sweet characters, and there were parts of the story that just dragged on for far too long. I'm not saying this book isn't worth the read, I'm sure there is a person out there who would love it, that person was just not me.
Woa, what a wild ride. This is not my typical read, and I had never read this author before and what a great opportunity to try it out. This was a white the journey and I really did enjoy. Kept me on the edge of my seat and wanting more. Thank you so much for this ARC
This was not the typical Mia Sheridan romance I was expecting, this had more of a romance/mystery vibe to it. While I enjoyed it and thought the idea behind was interesting, I never connected to the characters as much as I would have liked. I of course will still be recommending it because I recommend all her books and I know there is an audience that will love this book. For me it was a 3 /3.5 star rating I want to thank NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for the arc in exchange for an honest review.
(Belated)ARC Review-
A modern day Tarzan retelling full of found family, heartbreak, thrill, spice, and plot twists. I knew I was going to love this book as soon as I saw that it was written by Mia Sheridan. Archer’s Voice is one of my favorite books, and this re-release (previously published under Savaged) did not disappoint! The twists at the end I had not seen coming and they had my jaw on the floor. Jak and Harper were such interesting characters to follow and I truly loved their reading about journey. I also appreciate a good ‘full circle’ moment, and when everything came together towards the end of the book I was speechless.
I don’t have the words to describe this book without giving away spoilers, and I definitely do not want to spoil anything for any future readers. I will say, if you are a fan of murder mystery, romance, plot twist, and want to feel a full range of emotions while reading, definitely pick up this book, now available.
Thank you to Bloom Books and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
This book was amazing! I was kept on the edge of my seat and needing more! It was so intense and I felt all the feels and thrill of the story while reading through it.
5⭐️ 2🌶️
This story was fantastic! This book had it all! A baddie FMC who followed her heart, and a gentle mountain man who was obsessed with her from the start. Add in murder mysteries, kidnappings, and rogue social programs and I was hooked! There were so many twists to this book. I thought I knew where it was going and then Mia would throw me a curve ball that completely blindsided me.
I loved Harper. She was so kind and strong. She has been through so much after the loss of her parents and yet never let it jade her. She found her perfect partner in her mountain man who had survived trials so brutal they were inconceivable.
I’m going to be thinking about this book for a while. It was absolutely amazing!
Thank you NetGalley, Mia Sheridan, and Bloom Books for early access to this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
This book was a bit of a trip! I loved the characters and what they both had to overcome and work through to strengthen relationships with themselves and other people. There were some parts of the story that got a little weird in my opinion and I could have done without. Some dystopian bit and pieces intermixed and this isn’t a go to for me. But if you like physiological books and love stories, a good fast read!
What a story! This gave me chills and had me in tears for Jak and Harper these two humans who feel unwanted. Jak was taken and dropped off in the woods with 2 other kids to try and survive kind of like Hunger Games though they are told a story about why they are there being due to a war. Jak is a survivor and even though he almost died a few times he just keeps going and is now a man. A man who may have killed the neighbor who has helped him from time to time. This is really where our story picks up expands into this whole other thing that I was not at all expecting. I am excited to see where this story goes from here and Mia you did such an amazing job with this one!
This book is gripping from start to finish. The deeper meanings of love and faith are woven in all of the characters lives. I like how Mia writes about both the past and the present to culminate in a shocking climax. The story is well written and the characters are strong and vulnerable too. The imagery that Mia uses to describe the forest and all that Jak goes through while living there is fascinating and raw. Harper, the female main character, makes strides to heal the pains of her parents' deaths. I think the title change was appropriate and fits these characters really well and what they discover. I received this advanced reader copy from NetGalley. All the opinions are my own.
