This is such a wildly intense story - brutal murders, kidnapping, a tale of survival and a love story all wrapped into one. I was hooked from the start, and enjoyed all of the many twists and turns this book took! I'll be seeking out more from Mia Sheridan - as this was a page-turner!
What an interesting story line this book told. Imagine being left in the wilderness at age 7... how would you survive? Would you? Then fast forward to 15 "winters" later to find out the lies that you were told... to find out you've been watched. This is a little suspence with a great love story woven within.

Unwanted is book one of Men and Monsters and I thoroughly enjoyed this. This read was medium paced mysterious as well and emotional. The characters and world building was well done, very well developed and I loved the direction the book went. If you love multiple POV as well as some great twists, this book will definitely be for you. Will surely be looking out for more coming out from Mia Sheridan.
Thank you @netgalley , @sourcebloombooks and author for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
I love how Mia writes her romance books and this one reminded me of the feels I had reading one of my all-time favorites, Archer's Voice. It's emotional and beautiful and the storyline is compelling.
I enjoyed the main characters, Jak and Harper, and their journey.
The murder mystery was ok, I enjoyed the romance more so I wish it took more of a backseat.
This was a great emotional read that gave me a wholesome vibe.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mia Sheridan just raised the bar with "Unwanted"! I'm speechless after this out-of-this-world read. Lucas (Jak) and Harper are unforgettable. Lucas's struggle between man and wolf, and Harper's love and trust in him, are beautifully portrayed.
The passion between them is scorching hot and chair-squirming good. One scene had me in tears, it was that powerful. This story blends tragedy and beauty, hope and survival, with Mia's vivid narration bringing everything to life.
The plot is filled with twists and turns, keeping you guessing. Lucas's primitive life and Harper's modern world collide in a unique, compelling way. "Unwanted" is a magnificent love story that had me crying one minute and gasping the next. A truly wonderful reading experience!
This is literally one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It had me hooked from the beginning with a child kidnapping and double homicide starting off with a bang. I’ve read a lot of this authors books and this takes #2 ranking of my faves in all of her books I’ve read.
This book is written in third person and I love seeing all the perspectives of the characters. Usually I’m not a 3rd person POV, but this book was done just right.
Jak is having to survive in the wilderness of Montana at just 7 years old by himself and his story unfolds over the book of why he was kidnapped and made to survive in such harsh conditions all alone. There are so many twists and turns in this book and little Easter eggs that you pick up in throughout the book that have you seriously gasping. I had chills at one point in the book because of how well written and all of the hidden messages.
Highly recommend this book if you like romantic suspense, a mystery to solve, Tarzan inspired MMC, a secret program to train kids, and a happy ever after! Such a good freaking book!!
Helena Springs wilderness guide, Harper Ward, has been summoned to assist Agent Mark Gallagher solve two murders that occurred within the small town. The only person of interest in the homicides is a man that is described as savage. As Harper assists Agent Gallagher and gets to know Lucas, she finds that there is more to Lucas than meets the eye. He is smart and kind, yet he’s been living in the wilderness since he was a child. Harper is put in the middle of something more than just a homicide case, pieces from Harper’s own parent’s death start to get put together. However, Lucas is in the middle of it all. Is he a murderer, innocent victim, or a combination of the two?
This was a five-star read for me. I love the combination of murder mystery and romance. The chemistry between Harper and Lucas is palpable and every intense moment is felt by the reader. This story is told in multiple perspectives and the story captures the readers from the prologue. This was my first Mia Sheridan book, and it definitely will not be the last. The relationship between Harper and Lucas is a slow burn but it’s a beautiful development of intense love that is full of heart and soul. I cannot wait until I get my friends to read this book so I can talk about it with them. This is definitely a book that will live with me forever and is at the top of my recommendation list!

This book was so good and the plot unlike any book I have ever read before. I don’t want to give any spoilers but you need to read this romantic suspense.
Wow!! I read this book in one sitting, I couldn't put it down!
When two survivors meet accidentally 15 years after each one experienced a traumatic experience at the age of 7, they both realize that they were involved in a sinister, sick plan.
Harper was in a car accident with her parents and was the only survivor, but her memory of the accident is gone. Jak was taken from his bed in the middle of the night and had to fight for his survival in the wilderness of Montana. When two murders happen back to back with the same weapon, the police bring in Harper, a wilderness guide, to help the police with the area.
Jak had survived on his own in the wilderness brutal, alone. He was told that there was a war going on in the world and that children were being kidnapped. His young mind believed a stranger and he never left the woods. When Jak is brought in for questioning, he meets Harper and they form a bond. Only to figure out that he helped her survive her accident, because it wasn't an accident.
A must read!

Unwanted was so different than anything I’ve ever read- for the most part, I had no idea what would happen. Though the story had notes of Tarzan and The Hunger Games, it still felt unique. It was mysterious, heartbreaking, and suspenseful.
It did take me some time to get into the story, but once I did, I was hooked. Harper was a great FMC, and I loved the sweet romance that bloomed between her and Lucas.
Jak had my whole heart! It was so hard reading about the things he’d endured, but his strength of spirit was truly remarkable. All throughout the story, I wanted to reach inside the pages and give him a big hug!
The found family in this story was so touching, and felt like a balm to my soul after all of the heartbreak I experienced while reading this story.
This story was initially published under the title Savaged- a book I’ve let sit unread on my bookshelf for years. While I wish I had read it sooner, I’m so grateful I read it when I did. Sometimes stories come to us when we need them.
Unwanted is out now. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this title.
This is definitely my favorite Mia Sheridan book. Not only do we get an active murder mystery, but a two cold cases. The story immediately pulled me in, especially with Jak’a story. As a whole I did feel that the story was a bit predictable but I enjoyed the twists I didn’t see coming . Harper’ and Jaks romance was a bit quick, so if you are hoping for a slower burn, that is not this book.
All I gotta say is Mia Sheridan is once again a genius. This book wasn’t my typical go to read but the cover enticed me and I wanted to find out more. I did not read the bio or about me of the book going in so imagine my surprise whenever all the plots/twists took place. Seriously, such a good read and I loved every minute of it.
this book was so different from other Mia Sheridan books I’ve read & I really enjoyed it! a romantic suspense filled with unanswered questions, merging story lines and a LOT of mysteries being revealed.
Harper, a wilderness tour guide, and someone who had lost her parents as a child, is called to help with a police investigation involving two murders. when she arrives at the police station, she locks eyes with “a mountain man” being called into questioning that captures her attention. She can’t seem look away and has an immediate need to help him. As she spends more time with this wild man named Jak, she soon finds how much their pasts are intertwined and discover secrets from her own past that threaten her relationship with Jak, and her life.
this book starts off real strong and you’re immediately thrown into the midst of this mystery from the first chapter. I could not stop reading for the thriller component alone. I found it super well done & not very predictable which i loved! Jak has lived a majority of his life in the wild, surviving off the land and not knowing anything else. He gave me Tarzan vibes sometimes. Harper grew up in the foster system after her parents were killed in a tragic accident and now runs her own company giving nature tours. They instantly connect and their forced proximity being involved in the same murder investigation in some way has them spending lots of time together.
Mia knows how to write an innocent, sheltered hero and Jak was exactly that. Harper and Jak give me Archer and Bree vibes in their mannerisms and the way they view the world. I really enjoyed both their characters!
This is a story of survival shown in different ways. Jak and Harper are two characters who show what it’s like to survive against all odds and make it out on the other side. I absolutely loved the mystery component but the romance wasn’t my favourite. I will say I felt like this was more mystery than romance, which made the book more enjoyable for me to read. I would recommend this book if you’re looking for a romantic suspense with an insane murder mystery!
Thank you Sourcebooks Bloom Books, NetGalley, and Mia Sheridan for an ARC in exchange for an honest review ❤️
This book was kinda all over the place for me. The story of a boy who basically grew up in the woods. There is a murder to be solved and a “love” story going on as well. Too much going on for me. And the ending after so much trauma for the 2 main characters was just odd to me.
Thanks to Netgalley for this eArc for my review
When Harper is asked by sheriffs office to help out on a murder case as a wilderness expert, her life takes an unexpected turn.
The suspect is an 'uncivilized' man that captures her attention ... and her heart ... as she finds how much their past is woven together.
Follow Harper as she tries to help this 'savage man' but also unravel the discoveries from her own past.
When I started this book, I was a little thrown off. I didn’t expect such a gritty thriller. It took me a minute to get into it, took me another minute to understand the characters. The author jumps immediately into the action with absolutely no backstory. Which is not a negative thing, for me. I enjoy the splash into cold water, jumping straight into the action and just go with the flow trusting that the author will reveal what needs to be revealed when the time is right.
Where I’m left a little confused is the question constantly going around and round in my head, is this a thriller or some creepy romance? Or are we making a some sort of statement?
You can't talk about this book without talking about all the spicy scenes. The spice in this book is absolutely niche. Some might love it, for me, it made me uncomfortable. Actually the entire romance made me uncomfortable. Yes, he lived in the woods and you could assume has a fit body due to his lifestyle. Yes, nobody knows how they are going to grow up and some people are just blessed with great genetics. Yes, the logic that somebody has a nice body and a nice face, does not mean that we should all have sex with them. Maybe this will come off judgey but I feel my initial reaction to someone with an eighth grade level intelligence would not be to rip their clothes off and have animal style sex with them. I felt very uncomfortable that anytime he didn’t know a word for something that Harper was getting all hot and bothered.
What is really sad about it, is there are some really great aspects of this book. This book could have been about a boy getting thrust into the wilderness as a child and having to survive in the cold/the wild. A kind woman gets involved in his discovery and helps him assimilate to society. Would’ve been a really great book. A lot of unique situations happened. That is also what the synopsis is making this book's genre fall under.
The author went multiple different directions.
I could forgive the first spicey scene, maybe. After the second and third, I was pushed over the edge. I was left too uncomfortable.
Honestly, this was a three star book already as I was reading.
I will leave you with this, call it a “trigger warning” or a yellow flag … If you are uncomfortable with extremely descriptive words about sex, this book isn’t for you. If you are uncomfortable with Tarzan style sexual fetishes, this book isn’t for you.

Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
A new heart-pounding, suspenseful, and supremely romantic novel from New York Times bestseller Mia Sheridan, author of Archer's Voice.
This was told in third person, but with a specific character's view in each chapter. We got Harper's, Lucas's, Agent Mark's, and a mysterious character.
I was actually surprised that I liked it because I read it, or more like forced myself to because of the reading slump.
I was more interested in the mystery and the suspense aspect of the story because the romance was a little off, but as I was reading it, I realized that it's actually quite a complicated story to relate, as with Lucas and Harper's situation.
I really enjoyed it; there were some sick, twisted things that happened that made me so sad for them. The mystery and suspense kept me going; I kept reading, wanting to know what really happened.
Mia Sheridan's brain must be the most warped amazing place and we are lucky we get to get lost in it for 300 pages! She's written some of my favorite books ever! I liked this but it's not making my top list of hers; I struggled to connect with the characters and especially Jax's character. I wanted to love him but something was a bit off for me.
And maybe it's fixed in the not advanced copy but I though the chapters needed a subtitle or way to distinguish between past/present and POV. I found that a bit clunky when reading. It took a few minutes to get into where we were in the story each chapter and it broke up my flow.
I love this book and the new version is just as great as the original. The cover is stunning and it really has the best vibes.
I really liked the idea of this book. The story had such potential and I enjoyed parts of the story. I felt like towards the end, a lot was rushed and I wanted more of Jak’s story in the wild. It would have been cool to get the perspective of the other “animals” too.
This was my first book by Mia Sheridan and what an absolute treat it was.
The story of Harper, a wilderness tour guide who lost her parents at a young age who is called into help with a police investigation and Jak, a young man who has spent the majority of his life living in the wild.
Unwanted is story of family, survival and the ways the human spirit carries us through.
