Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an early copy of this book.
The book is a travel guide of where to go, stay, and eat in a city along with travel tips to the destination.
I can imagine this would make a great physical edition, especially with the chapter dividers.
By the end, I was unsure why some places were included.
So this book isn't scary at all. For me, it's actually better, because I am always looking for someplace interesting to travel. I'm not a beach person; instead, I want to go somewhere so that I can experience something interesting. What makes this book so fantastic is that it describes the place and the relevant history, and then you get to learn about the modern landmarks, attractions, and stores that you can visit now. This is so much fun, and I hope the authors continue to collect these kinds of data about interesting places so I can learn about more. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this.
Well-written guide book to visiting spooky US cities with personal experiences from the authors who are podcasters. I enjoyed this because it was a true travel guide complete with restaurant recommendations, hotels near the mentioned sites, and places to shop. Surrounding areas are also mentioned so you won’t miss out on any good locations nearby. Can’t wait to visit some of the places they describe.
This was a fun and entertaining read! I like the stories and tidbits. I would love to do a road trip to these places! Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley.
Travels of Terror was such a fun read! I love creepy lore and fun trivia about different places, especially if it’s a place I’ve been to or plan on visiting. This book holds a wealth of information about each destination, including the spookiest things to happen there, hidden gems, movies and books set there, where to do various things, and a woman you should know. I had so much fun learning about (or at least refreshing my memory on) different locations!
If you love horror, traveling, or you just like having fun bits of trivia to pull out at random times, check this book out!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the free ARC in exchange for my honest review!
I cannot review this as it is not compatible with kindle and I was not able to read this. Please in the future make books available to read on kindle as I cannot properly read and review a book on my phone, thank you.
UM. Hi. I'm obsessed with this. I am so thankful to Sourcebooks, Kelly Florence, Meg Hafdahl, and Netgalley for granting me advanced access to this spooky encyclopedia of sorts before it hits shelves on August 27, 2024. I am an avid ghost hunting show watcher and love all things supernatural, whether they happen to be real or not. This book is the perfect resource for locating ghostly beings, and I'll definitely have it on hand for all of our travels going forward.
Excuse me but this book is f’n amazing! To quote Jack Torrance, I’m a “confirmed ghost story and horror film addict” making this book right up my alley. I appreciate the hotel, food, and shopping recommendations, because finding a good place to eat is challenging and requires research!
My favorite thing about this book however is the book and film recommendations. I love to read books based on what city I’m traveling in to immerse myself further. You can tell the authors put a lot of thought and care into what recommendations they provided in this book.
I am hoping the authors will put out a part two of this in the future as there are so many amazing spooky places in the US!
Thank you to NetGalley & Sourcebooks for the e-ARC of this book.
I received a free copy of, Travels of Terror, by Kelly Florence: Meg Hafdahl, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This book has places to stay, where to eat, books to read, travel tips, on scary places to visit in the US. I really enjoyed this book, it gave me lots of ideas on places to visit and books to read.
thank you netgalley and sourcebooks for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review
I enjoyed the true crime and woman you should know portions of each section but I was disappointed about the rest. there wasn’t enough about the haunting places and scary stories. it was mostly what to do, where to eat and where to stay. I skimmed most of it
Generally speaking, travel guides aren’t something i want to read. So, this is a first! I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It’s a great blend of real, detailed travel guidance for potential visitors and great writing. The format is super interesting. I love the spooky, true crime stories. But, I liked the Women You Should Know sections a lot, too. The bookstore recommendations are awesome. This one is going to be a hit with a lot of people, whether you visit the places highlighted or not!
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Travels of Terror.
I love all things horror so this was right up my alley.
I don't listen to podcasts so I'm not familiar with the authors but I loved Travels of Terror.
I would love to hang out with the authors who must be my horror soulmates.
They traveled around the US to spotlight the scariest spots for horror, history, and true crime.
There was so much I didn't know! Some states really go all out for Halloween and all things horror!
My favorite parts were the spotlights on women we should know.
I wish the photos of the people and buildings were available so I could put a name to the face and see what these spooky places looked like; maybe those didn't come through on my Kindle.
Travels of Terror is a great book to gift any horror fan with!
