4 stars = Great!

I enjoyed this second trip to the Woofmore. The story is a bit richer than in book one where things are just getting introduced. It's lovely that Rufus doesn't have to fake loving scary things, but he faces them bravely in order to do a good job for his friends and for the Woofmore. This is a darling chapter book series!

This book is precious. The artwork is stunning. The characters are fun and quirky. This book delivers laughs and chills at the same time. This book is everything an early reader could possibly want from a graphic novel. I am so looking forward to recommending it soon.
Thank you so much to Abrams Kids and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this book.

I have a soft spot in my heart for chaper books. My favorites have lots of humor and sometimes a bit of mystery or magic. I do like animal characters, but I can't exactly explain why some hit the right note with me and why others fall flat. The dog characters in Donna Gephart and Lori Haskins Houran's Welcome to the Woofmore series ring true for me and I am hooked. I got the first book from a local library and when I saw the second one available on Netgalley, I requested it. The Woofmore in Not Haunted takes on the plight of the scaredy cat quite nicely. Woofmore employee Rufus doesn't understand why everyone seems to like the scarey books their celebrity guest, Silas Fang likes. But fortunately, Silas is on vacation and wants a break from spooky things. Instead he asks Rufus for unicorns, bubbles and rainbows. He wants everything bright and cheery for a change. Unfortunately, the hotel has some guests who have mistakenly heard that the Woofmore is a haunted destination and spotting Silas Fang has them convinced they will get a good scare as part of their stay. Can the Woofmore Staff deliver up bright and cheery while also providing scares and screams? You'll have to read the book to find out. Illustrations by Josh Cleland add to the appeal of the series. I love the way he draws the dutiful Rufus and Coco, his chihuahua boss. This is a great series for animal loving, newly independent readers.

Cute early chapter book. A little heavy on the paw and fur jokes but not to bad. zxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

This is a cute semi-scary book for those kids wanting to get into horror without going too far. I love that the main characters are dogs. There is a good amount of text and pictures for those kids who are working their way into chapter books. Great transition book.
